The Harvest wagon is a little farm stand right on the side on Pleasant Hill Road in Scarborough. I'm not sure if it is the exact same wagon but a little veggie place has been located on or very near this location for many decades. I remember buying corn and rutabaga here half a century ago.
Just a wagon with various veggies and things that happen to be in season. Most if not all of the stuff is grown on one of the many farms nearby. You get what they happen to have, not necessarily what you happen to want.
Potatoes, corn, beans, rutabaga, pumpkins, squash, tomatoes, cucumbers and even lovely flowers can be bought here depending on the time of the year and time of the day. We got here very late this last time and most of the produce was gone.
They is usually nobody around to take your money and you just shove it in an "honesty box". This might not be a good idea is some parts of the country but this is Maine. Honesty is a way of life up here.
The parking is iffy at best, Just kind of squeeze in off the road as far as you can. However it is difficult at times to find a spot that isn't leaving your car and butt exposed to the dangers, chaos and ghosts of Pleasant Hill Road.
Don't be fooled by the pleasant name for this road and be really careful going in and back out into the road from this small veggie stand. Pleasant Hill Road is an absolute killer and many beautiful and wonderful people have died here. Be very cautious, reflective and thoughtful when driving this road. Don't end up just another statistic. read more
