Wow - Great Experience! Moved into a new condo, After a few weeks, we had primarily cosmetic changes and needing someone who was skillful, reliable at a good price. Hired someone else initially, who was over his head and was let go. Googled and came across The Handyman's Man who had good reviews, Called on a Friday and set up an appt for the following week. That night, garbage disposal got clogged and the next morning I called and Gilbert is at my house at 9:30am. An hour later, sink is fixed and I'm off to beach. Following week comes, he returns and knocks off a list including the installation of a dimmer switch, installed soft close cabinet hardware, moved an 8 ft curtain rod and patched and repainted holes, replaced bulbs in my 15ft vaulted ceilings, fix toilet, caulked kitchen sink, fixed squeaky bed frame, installed shelving in closet ..... I was frustrated after the first guy didn't pan out, but would have never found these guys. Gilbert was excellent - masked up and wearing foot booties, he was very pleasant, he showed me once he completed each task to make sure to me liking - very professional and reasonably priced at only $59.99/hour. We had an a/c unit installed by Gilbert. The installation process itself went pretty smoothly and I was happy with the way they finished the install. Fast forward several months and we discovered that it wasn't installed correctly. The unit was tilted in the opposite direction from what the instructions specified. It should have been tilted away from the house, so that the drainage of the unit escapes the back of the unit instead of entering the house. Well, after months of water entering and being trapped in our walls and finally showing itself by coming out from under the baseboards, we realized we had a problem. We reached back out to Handyman's Man and Gilbert on May 13th, they finally come to look at it on May 19th. Gilbert asked for the unit to be plugged in so they could see the leak, so that's what we did. We confirmed the source and cause, and now they don't want to fix their installation because it's been longer than 90 days since install. Regarless of the fact the install was done incorrectly. They said they'd be happy to come fix their own mistake if we want to pay them. Ha! I'd rather have someone who's going to stand by their work. If this had been a failure of the a/c unit itself, I'd completely understand. But it was their initial installation that was done incorrectly that they won't stand behind. So there's no way I can recommend them. read more
