Where do i start??
Lets me start from the entrance: The keypads stick when you type the numbers in making it difficult for members to enter.
Moving on to the inside of the gym (I will have to bullet point the problems as there are so many)
- The foam rollers in either the class or upstairs are dirty and old... very hygienic.
- None of the equipments ever looks like it is cleaned as i could run my finger across many parts and my finger is instantly dirty... Lovely.
- Walking past the managers office, they look really happy & seem like they enjoy their job (Sarcasm)
- Into the changing rooms, the woman's hand dryer has not been working for 4 days now and it has only just had a sign put on it saying 'out of order' with no replacement object to dry our hands with, so i assume the wet hands go onto the equipment.
- The calf press machine feels like it has not been oiled and has rust in the lower joint, which has not been noticed from the last 5 months, showing the quality control is below standard.
- Closed for three days, i assume for painting and not cleaning as when I returned there was still dirt on the pull up bar attached to the squat rack.
- The dumbbells are always greasy & need to weigh more from some of the comments I've overheard in the gym. The company should develop with the time and listen to the feedback rather than using the 'what we think is best' approach.
- The gym has WAY to many members for it to facilitate. This is definitely a health and safety issue when there is 50 people in the free weight area all being super close to each other.
- The bench press is the worst I've ever encountered. The lower pin will never be used by anyone and i assume taller people will struggle when the pin in by their chest already.
- The mirrors by both squat racks are cracked and have been covered by tape for months.
- The mirrors have a slit in the middle (inside the squat racks) making them pointless for anyone who looks in them when doing any exercise as it distorts the middle of your body ruining form. Might as well not have any mirrors in front of them.
- There are not enough olympic bars or weight disks to facilitate for the amount of members there, so when you arrive you might as well have a waiting area before you have a turn.
- Benches in the weight area have missing 'yellow pins' to be able to move the height of the seat or bench angle. Again been like this for weeks.
- Clips are broken on machines
- There needs to be weight trees to put the weight disks on, as it is impossible to grab any disks when people are working out on any of the olympic bar stations.
- The floor in the free weight area is breaking apart making it a trip hazard.
- The floor is so spongy that when you squat or deadlift you sink into the floor, ruining the lift... where are the olympic lifting floors in the correct places?
- In the evening it is boiling within the gym, leaving us thinking 'is there any temperature regulation' & in the day time it is freezing.... consistency please.
- The shoulder press machine (by the vending machines) still has a broken seat adjuster, again been like this for a month now.
- The benchpress and squat rack (not the power cage) needs to be swapped over, so it is possible to do over head press without hitting the supporting beam above.
- I would suggest a 'suggestions box' so the company will listen to customer complaints.
- Seen many people trip over the step up to the free weight area... marked with no tape or warning sign.... healthy and safety yet again.
Overall, the company needs to focus more on: health & safety, quality control, customers and improvements. I understand that the quality matches the price as most things do in life nowadays. It wouldn't take millions to improve, but it could be SO much better.
If you are looking for a gym to go for a run and 'stay healthy' - (which is not done through endless hours of cardio) - then this is the place for you.
Hopefully the company is able to read this and act upon it.
