Luckily for me, Emporia Fitness is here, you don't have to sign a contract, and it's all of a 5 minute drive! I've only ever been there midday, so I can't speak to how busy it is during the peak hours, but I've rarely had to wait for equipment and that is perfect to me. The staff is wonderful, the gym is clean, and it's exactly what I was looking for! 10/10, I highly recommend!

I searched around and found Emporia Fitness was within a few blocks of my hotel. They had a weekly membership available for less than $20. A price that couldn't be beat, considering what I am use to in Toronto. The cardio machines were plentiful. They even had Precor AMTs, which are handsdown one of the best cardio machines available (and not easy to find in most fitness centres). The had a great circuit set-up in the front half of the building and the back was freeweights. The free wifi was amazing, and meant I could watch Netflix on the cardio machines and listen to Spotify while doing weights. When I come back to Emporia in 2016, I will be making good use of Emporia Fitness again!

They also have stair climbers, stationary bikes and treadmills. It's really nice and modern with lots of room. It's $5 and you sign a waiver if a visitor. They also are putting in a crossfit area outside adjacent to the gym. If a member, you have access 24 hours a day. If a visitor, make sure you call and there is someone there during the day but they run errands, etc., so would be wise to make an appointment.

I have called and asked the front desk what temperature their sauna runs at and nobody knows. Twice in the same workout session I was dress coded in the middle of the workout floor. I was wearing a sports bra and they brought me a shirt and told me to put it on. While several other women were wearing the exact same thing. I understand company policy, but enforce it equally. I still see girls in skimpy sports bras everyday I workout, but none of them get humiliated on the gym floor like I did. This YMCA discriminates. And if I had the money to sue them I would. Terrible place with terrible hours, and the worst employees.

In which I've asked every one of them to keep the temperatures manageable. I have had a heat stroke, and when the club is at 80 degrees it is a health concern to have a heat stroke victim's core temperature get out of control. I would always get ignored. Recently, my husband and I had had enough after my 7 years of membership and brought it up again. We were charged $120, per person, a year for a maintenance fee on top of our monthly dues. We approached the GM and she video conferenced Dennice Young, a regional manager. Dennice proceeds to tell us that we can't have access to the ceiling fans, that my health issue really isn't a problem in their gym and they can't be sued if I fall down from heat exhaustion, refused to give us the phone number of anyone higher up, and started yawning when I was presenting my complaint. She also said it was a HIPAA violation to give that information out, yet I see right here on Yelp that it talks about Brian, the owner, and even what city he lives in. I'm not interested in being insulted and my business not valued. She also would not tell us what the additional $120 per person was used for, as there have never been any new additions to the club to warrant the fee. She basically said the owner had the discretion of doing what he wants and we don't deserve to know as members. After 7 years it is abundantly clear that anytime fitness doesn't really want my money and loyalty and won't ever have it again. The customer service is abhorrent and if I could give it less than one star I would. Anytime, do yourself a favor and get rid of Dennice, she is not doing you any favors in keeping your members around. In fact, a few others have told me they are canceling their membership because they can't get good customer service there either.
