So there we were driving around on Sunday looking for somewhere to have "Fathers day" lunch…read more Looking for the usual 2 for 1 or all you can eat for a fiver deals (I'm a bloke from Yorkshire, therefore I'm tight) but to no avail....... then I just remembered this place from my youth and headed over and BINGO! Big chalk board outside said Fathers day lunch £7.50, I conned the wife into going halves (she was fed up of driving round by then) so we went in. We were greeted by friendly bar staff and a more restaurant approach but in a rural pub setting which was a bit odd but good, grabbed a couple of pints of rancid old scrotum or some other cask ale and parked at the table which the waitress helpfully showed us to. The menu had a choice of 4 meals, 5 starters and plenty of puddings (desserts if you're from that London) which were all specials for the day. I chose a steak and ale pie with new spuds etc and the wife a beef dinner with all the trimmings....... service took around 10 minutes so I bought more "Armpit sweat" or "Old bags eyeball juice" or some other beer of some strange name. Believe me when I say it was worth the driving around and having to drink beer with twigs in (I don't have a beard or corduroys or a tank top so I prefer my beer twig free) as I can honestly say it was a genuinely home made pie, in a dish with just a crust on top and filled with half a cow and some fungus pieces (mushrooms of the non magic variety) all swimming in gravy that I believe was made from the tears of an angel. The vegetables were a plenty and in bowls to share between us which gets me on to the wifes choice of roast beef dinner, she said it was the best beef she's ever had and believe me when I say she's had a lot of meat in her lifetime ;) It was melt in the mouth and enough to leave her with a smile on her face and the yorkshire pudding (no that's not the wifes nickname) was fresh made and delicious. So next time you're in the Drig area or even not but want a bally good nosh (sorry I just put my Tim Nice But Dim head on) put BD11 1LJ into your Satnav, you will not be dissapointed.

WOW, were we lucky? This is a nice pub with nice staff but doesn't look anything special. However, the food was just wonderful! Fresh veg, proper home made yorkshire pud and real puddings too. Their best bet has to be the carvery at £7.45. Three choices of meat accompanied by mega Yorkshires and loads and loads of different veg. They also have a two meals for £7.95 menu which represents very good value. I've never had a bad meal there myself. When the weather is decent they have a large play area with a brilliant climbing frame and plenty of seating for the doting parents. If you say you are going to sit out there the staff will give you your drinks in plastic 'glasses' to avoid the possibility of broken glass in this area. They also have a decent sized function room for hire. There is plenty of car parking but at busy times on warm days even that can get full. You don't book, you just turn up and wait for a free table.

I've since visited the Belah pub again since my last review and have been in with my dog the young…read moremanageress came over and had a lovely chat with me my Betsy was giving a pork sausage and a water bowl and the lady made a real fuss of her despite her been really mucky after her walk on farnley park I will be going back now I know my Betsy is welcome inside and I am glad the manageress took the time to come and see me and my poochy and make us both feel welcome on this visit I am also glad to know that now all staff will let dog owners know they are dog friendly if they sit outside cause it's a massive plus for an establishment and I am happy to confirm that as the manger said it is on the door maybe this could be moved to the window for optimum viewing thank you for my visit with Betsy this time

Half dedicated to diners, the other to drinkers, this pub is somewhere that would be perfect on a cold winters afternoon. A good sunday late lunch, followed by their weekly popularly attended quiz may be slightly out of your way if you're from another area of Leeds, but it is worth it for a special treat.

We went for Sunday lunch and had the carvery, delicious roast meats served buffet style with all the usual trimmings, Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower, peas, carrots, roast and mashed potatoes, gravy, apple sauce, cranberry sauce etc..... Selection of meats included house roasted pork with crackling, beef, turkey, honey ham and a couple of daily specials. Decent prices for food, i found the drinks expensive, especially coke/sprite, £3.50 seems a bit extreme especially as there are no "free refills", could get very expensive for families with thirsty kids...

Paid a visit to the 6 acres with 5 members of family last Sunday for Lunch. The pub has a decent…read morecar park which was full at half 2 so we parked on the street outside however other members of the family who came 5-10 minutes later were able to park easily. We got drinks at the bar and took a seat round a small table. I asked a girl in the entrance how long a wait for a table for 6 and was advised 45 minutes. After 10-15 minutes however the place seemed to have cleared out and when my auntie enquired we were then shown to a table. Food is ordered at a dual till point by a dessert counter and then the carvery served Toby Carvery style where your ticket is traded for a plate and your choice of meat is sliced. There was also a cold pulled pork in gravy on offer & mountains of Yorkshire puddings available. The veg was help yourself to a delicious sweet red cabbage then sprouts which I avoided! Carrot&swede, cauliflower cheese and then roast potatoes which looked like the frozen variety!!! I was quite disappointed in the potatoes and how cold the meat was. After our meal I opted for a hot dessert which I ordered at the counter. After a considerable wait I queued to enquire and 5 minutes later my dessert was brought. For £3.99 I was given a slab of sticky toffee cake rather than pudding with too little custard for my liking. It was overall pleasant but just missing the mark.
