His friend Ian was absolutely the best choice as our MC as well. He was hilarious (made funny, yet still appropriate comments). I was very busy during cocktail hour, but I heard a lot of the songs we requested and other great choices they added. I've been to many weddings, where the music and DJ were definitely subpar. The Grey Orange (Joey Tang) and Kate Leung were recommended to us for DJ and emcee services by our wedding planner, Dee Lee Designs. We specifically wanted an emcee that could speak Cantonese for the bride's parents, aunties, and uncles to fully enjoy our Filipino-Chinese wedding reception. From the first meeting, Kate (emcee) and Joey (DJ), we knew that they would be a great fit for our wedding. They reassured us that we would be in good hands and shared their experiences with wedding receptions and the flow-of-events with a 10-course banquet. We got homework a month before our wedding, did one final run-through of the schedule, and they were set. They also joked that they work together so often that they developed signals or looks to communicate with one another seamlessly; it's true. Joey handled the music and he did outstanding! He was able to pick up on our musical tastes from the shortlist of songs we wanted, he made sure our first dance and surprise choreo went off without a hitch without us having to provide a custom audio file, and he kept the vibe of our reception going from cocktail hour to the last dance. The ambient music during dinner and then the party music were all done very tastefully and the transitions were spot on. We got a lot of song requests from our RSVPs and Joey definitely delivered!! It was a wide-variety of songs he had to play- from Canto to K-Pop, Bad Bunny to Classics, Top Charts Pop to West Coast Rap. It was super awesome and the guests all had something to dance to. The audio system at the Sheraton was great- no random bouts with feedback or overly done or poor EQ. Kate did an outstanding job at our wedding!! Our guests were not only impressed with her Cantonese, they also loved her charming, engaging personality! She was also able to explain some of the Cantonese elements to the non-Cantonese audience. One of our guests said that it was like being at Disneyland, where the language transition from English to Cantonese was seamless and almost surgical. We loved her enthusiasm and she even surprised our audience with a rendition of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love" - again with the same surgical precision from English to Cantonese and back again. read more

There was a little bit of everything for everyone: Chinese, K-Pop, Oldies, Hip Hop, EDM, ratchet music. We of course did communicate what genres and styles we liked, and he DELIVERED. Was recommended by our mc Kate leung. My husband was pretty impressed by the dj's equipment and he even listened to his mixes on YouTube or SoundCloud I forget which haha. Joey seemed very chill but when we asked him about things he was professional and seemed like he definitely knew what he was doing. The Grey Orange team was a hit at our wedding! We met DJ Joey through our wedding emcee, Kate Leung. Weeks before our event, they provided sheets for us to fill out our music. We met up with them and they answered all our questions. We gave the DJ a list of music we liked but we wanted him to be able to do his own thing too. On the day of our wedding, every song we selected was played accordingly but the best part was the reception and dancing! We were referred to The Grey Orange by a friend who uses their service for his company galas. We're originally from Los Angeles and was expecting a large guest count (580 Guests) at the San Gabriel Hilton. We utilized the entire ballroom, which is pretty huge. Our main concern was sound. We've attended quite a few weddings where the DJ only brings out a pair of speakers on sticks and speech audibility became an issue. After a few communications with Joey we knew we've found the right guy for the Job. He took time to explain to us the importance of adding side fill speakers for our large space and we couldn't have been happier with our decision to do so. We caught a glimpse of their load in and it looked like they were loading in for a concert! It's really reassuring to see your wedding team with professional equipment. DJ, Lighting, Gobo patterns Review- Joey came highly recommended to me by a lot of people. I researched and looked into his work. I fell in love with it. I knew I had to have him at my wedding. Everyone said he was fun and great at what he does. They were right. From the first time I met him, to now after the wedding, he is so pleasant and patient. He really tries to work with you. He tried so many times to accommodate us. My husband and I live in S.F, we came to L.A to run errands and Joey came out of his way to meet us to pick up a CD my mother in law made to add for cocktail hour. We had our wedding in a huge ballroom at Pechanga down in Temecula with over 400+ guests and he made that ballroom turn from a standard conference room look to a wedding wonderland! This post is long over due!! At the time, there was no yelp account. We hired The Grey Orange for our wedding after a fallout with another vendor. Joey, the DJ, was awesome in making our wedding come true. Our wedding was in July 2017 at Capital Seafood Restaurant. Other services we requested from The Grey Orange included draping, pin spots, lighting, and gobo. We were nervous about how the draping would look like since we wanted to drape all 4 walls of the restaurant to make it a more "modern" feel. We met Joey at the restaurant so he can inspect if he would be able to drape the walls. He told us it would be his first time draping this restaurant. We loved that Joey was very honest and easy to talk too. We told Joey what we wanted and he tried to work with us and he made it happen!! I was blow away on our wedding day. The draping and lighting completely changed the atmosphere and it was everything we had hope it would be and more!! Joey and our Mcee Kate were also a great team throughout the night. Joey was a lifesaver! He swooped right in when I was extremely overwhelmed with all the wedding planning and took care of a huge chunk of the "to-do"s for me! He did the lighting for my wedding and created the perfect and most romantic ambiance in an otherwise very rustic, woodsy venue.
