From enjoying a late night cap during the weekdays to watching this place come alive on the weekends, each time was even better than the last. The service is fast and efficient. One of the stops while having a few on vacation and this had to have been the most punk dive bar in fernandina. Band space, writing on the walls, no menu to be spoken of. A couple walked in and asked for a drink menu and bartender said one doesn't exist. Was he a little rude, yeah, but you take one look at this place and you know it's a two ingredient drink type of place. Cool outdoor space. Apparently they have burgers at some points and shows. This place is either exactly what you are looking for or somewhere you don't want to be. Lots of outside area and live music. It is really a party space, writing on the walls, drunk folks doing their thing. Again this is either exactly where you want to be, or not depending on what you're looking for. It was just a little too much for my wife and I, but if you are hitting the bars you might roll through here and have a good time. Service was prompt and accommodating. read more

While we didn't hang out here long, the place is pretty large, has great energy, is very close to everything on Centre St., and had friendly employees. Live music is the main draw; at least it was for us. Being here on a Thursday, the music had to stop at 10:00pm due to a noise ordinance (boo!). The drinks were poured decently but fairly pricey, relative to other places. But, free live music, so it's fair! If we lived here or were in the area longer, we'd be back! read more

So... this place is called THE GREEN TURTLE TAVERN....NOT to be confused with THE GREEN TURTLE (located in Maryland). I got it confused because that is what came up on my search. This place has it's own personal Southern vibe. It's like visiting the neighborhood's s party house, finding any ol' spot to sit (after you've walked to the grill to see and buy what's cooking' n going inside to buy a beverage of some kind) and just relax alone or with friends listening to great Music and enjoying the evenings cool air. I gave It 4 stars only cuz it's a little confusing when you walk up. No one seems to be there to give you the lowdown. -like showing up at a party where you know no one lol. It was a little bewildering for me who did arrive alone and I had to stumble around trying to find someone who actually worked there to see where I eat, sit etc. The music was great tho. Everyone was super friendly and at the time seating was pretty abundant. I just did not get the hippy memo for this place. -thankfullyDOGS are very welcome so I was happy with that! This place was so fun! I didn't eat so can't speak on the food, but went for the live music and and drinks and had a blast. Two bands were alternating playing outside, one was more classic rock while the other was reggae/punk. Good vibes and everyone was having a fun time. We love coming here whenever we get down to Amelia Island. The music and the atmosphere is great. People having fun and dancing all night. Great times. The only drawback is that sometime the outside bartenders seem to have an attitude like they hate working there. This past Saturday 11/11 the outside bartender horrible. I visited this place while taking a road trip from Fort Lauderdale. It's a busy slice of beach night life with a casual atmosphere. Walking from across the street, you can already hear the bustling crowd and echoing music. At the entrance the bouncer will check your ID and slap a wrist band on you to signify you can drink alcohol. Once you make your way inside, you'll find the bar surrounded by eager drinkers. Drinks are priced very well and relatively cheaper than bars you'll find in South Florida. This goes for both beer and liquor. Outside you'll find a few casual games such as table tennis and corn hole. The place was pretty packed with a wide array of ages. There's an area for live music and as you can imagine, the speakers were booming. Awesome little bar! Really good live music, lots of outdoor seating, ping pong and cold drinks served by attentive bartenders. Only downside is they only have ONE bathroom. Literally just one toilet in the whole place! It's was clean though! My bf and I came here because it's right next to the b&b we were staying at. We sat inside at the bar and got some beers which were pretty averagely priced. Not a massive beer selection but plenty to choose from and all the usual liquor suspects. We never had to wait long for our drinks and didn't have to flag the bartender down ever. He was pretty attentive even though it was busy. The crowd was a bit older than us (think mid-40's +) but as the clock ticked a younger crowd started infiltrating and was pretty packed by 9. There was an amazing acoustic band playing everything from Sublime to Otis Redding. We headed outside to the patio where there were people playing ping pong and they had a little outdoor drink set up so you didn't have to go inside to order. The one bathroom thing kinda sucked but luckily our room was close by so we'd just run back and forth for bathroom breaks. Overall a really great, kinda divey bar!
