Overall, the structure of the camp is great. However, they frequently make last minute changes, do…read morenot communicate them, and then get frustrated when you are not following these changes. I worked here for 4 summers out of convenience, and it was one of the most hostile environments I have never been in. If you went to Camp Sewataro growing up, great, they will welcome you with open arms and you will fit in. If you did not, you will be isolated, shut out by fellow employees, and not be able to participate in events that the camp runs but chooses strictly campers-turned-employees for. If you are a college graduate, teacher, childcare professional, etc, you will still be getting supervised by an unqualified college kid, just because they grew up at camp. Pay is also terrible. I was making $11 an hour while having a Master's degree in education. There are hundreds of other camps in the area, don't work here.

Drumlin Farm is a working farm and the animals they raise make their way to the meat freezer for sale at the farm stand. If this offends you, then go buy antibiotic loaded meat from animals that were raised in cages and slaughtered at the first sign of illness. The animals are adorable to look at. They have rescued wildlife as well and some really nice trails for walking. Admission is free with an Audubon membership.

I really can't rate icode high enough - I have been very impressed as we enter our second year taking their classes. Recently, we tried the summer camps offered at icode - my son never met a summer camp that he liked, except icode. He had such a great experience, by day 3 of camp he was asking if we could drop him off 10 minutes early at the center!!

I come here mainly on weekends, when my home Y closes way the heck too early (4pm vs 7pm here)…read more I'd say that about 70-80% of their equipment is fine. Lots of free weights and strength machines. The highlight is the huge, high-ceilinged (30-40ft?) functional fitness space that features a turf area, a sled, kettlebells, plyo boxes, plyo smash balls, a do-it-all calisthenics multi-station that includes weighted pulleys, dip and pullup and monkey bars, a free hanging real boxing bag (nice angled uppercut bag that's just the right weight to make you "dance" to avoid the swing back, yet forgiving enough that you can punch it without gloves without risking a broken wrist or bruised knuckles), a pair of Assault bikes and treadmills, a Concept rower, some meh Schwinn stationary bikes (more on that later), and two full squat cages with plenty of plates and barbells. So, what about the other 20-30%, you ask? Well, their cardio machines range from so-so to unusably lousy. All the treadmills are Precor, which are a clear step down from the Life Fitness TMs most Ys have: smaller uglier fuzzy screens with spotty internet connection that can freeze up in the middle of a workout, noisier and less stable platform. The stationary bikes are a mix of Precor (typical mediocre gym bike with crap ergonomics where you feel like you're on a creaky toy bike pedaling against some barbaric pad not magnetic resistance) and Espresso (video-gaming type bike clearly designed to seduce ADD teenagers or lazy af adults) and the horrible Schwinn bikes (just as bad as most home exercise bikes, you can understand why people mostly use them as clothes hangers). Please please please can you guys get at least a few KEISER bikes? We know you can have decent taste in cardio machines because you kept your CONCEPT rowers instead of choosing some oversized gym-brand rowers which look impressive but have similarly lousy ergonomics. Oh and they have non-mechanical Assault brand treadmills which nobody uses because they are brutal on the knees, too narrow and unstable. I don't know who was in charge of choosing the cardio equipment, but that person needs to be put to work cleaning the bathrooms or something more appropriate! The other major gripe I have is their sauna --- it's spacious and new and pretty, but who in the hell decided to have only ONE row of seating? Completely idiotic, folks: did you not pass seventh grade Life Science, where they teach you that heat RISES, and that's why all real saunas have TWO levels of seating, with the 2nd one being a good 4-5 feet off the ground so that you get the full benefit of the heat in the room? Here you have to STAND on the damned low benches if you want to get a decent sweat in ... the sauna thermometer reads 170F but if you're sitting down you'd be lucky to get 140-150F, which is useless. (The sauna of the Melrose YMCA has the same idiotic mistake.) So, while I'm grateful that this Y offers me decent hours to work out on weekends making the long drive out there worthwhile, their cardio machines selection and sauna design really really need a rethink.

The rest of the staff also are great and always seem happy and involved in the activities. Everyone is welcoming and friendly and the environment feels super inclusive. We love that our child gets to run around has also been a great way for our daughter to meet other kids in town that don't go to school with her. My daughter was sat down to have her chocolate donut and i was told she couldn't eat it there because of allergies and that chocolate was one of them. I had to put it away and they asked me to play with her in the back of the center. A few hours later a girl was eating the same donut at the same table for snack. my daughter is part black, and this does NOT sit right with me at all. she was moved down to infants because she wasn't as Mobil. she's extremely Mobil let alone advanced she's the busiest girl I know. she's at the age of toddlers. I was then fired a few hours later not even given a chance to fulfill my full day. They had me pick up my daughter in front of the other teachers and leave in front of everybody. they used an excuse I was not hands on but I very much was and have worked in daycare before and was always praised for how I interacted with children. when I picked her up she was absolutely filthy. they didn't even use a bib on her white shirt. her diaper was extremely full. they did not update me on her diaper changes, time of nap when to when, or gave me access to the photos taken. very rude and discriminatory center.
