Best preschool in Raleigh-bar none! We have been with this…read morepreschool for 6 years now. All four of our children have attended and now only our youngest child is left as the older siblings have moved on to elementary school! So only 2 more years left of GSLP! Bittersweet! As a newer mother when I was researching all the local preschools I was directed to GSLP by a dear friend whom I admired. I visited them all, asked lots of questions and by far, GSLP was the most prepared, most cost efficient and most qualified. I personally really like the schedule and the times the preschool runs. 9:30am is after the early morning rush so it is the PERFECT starting time. And the fact that the children get to have lunch there-what a blessing! So many other preschools end around lunchtime-and they cost the same if not more for having children there for less hours! (Why? Hmmmm...I dunno!) 1:20pm is a great endidng time because it is after lunch so you don't have to deal with the hurry to get the kids fed right after picking them up, yet it is still before afternoon quiet times (which all younger children, in my humble opinion, should have. Saves mom from going insane and gives them some time to themselves. THAT in and of itself can be talked about for hours....Ok, I digress....) All of the teachers are certified and have extensive backgrounds in teaching. Their curriculum is superb and all of our children have fond memories of GSLP. The parents are very involved and frankly, as each year passes the school improves even when I think it can't improve any more! The Director, Deanna Klimek, is very hands on. Her staff responds well with her and you can tell they all really enjoy working together. Their biggest love, and rightfully so-is the children! Oh how they all love those precious children! We have never doubted our decision to send our children to Good Shepherd. I encourage every parent who is wondering where to send his/her children-to just register those little one/s! You will be so glad you did!!

All the teachers have a background in child development or education and follow a curriculum that prepares children for entering kindergarten. The children stay very busy and engaged. We love coming into school each day and are always greeted by the Director, Deanna, and Mr. Mike.

When we moved to Raleigh, we put our child in the care of Primrose School of Hilburn and never…read moreregretted it once. This is an exceptionally caring, diligent, and clean daycare. Sonia and Janae are responsive and each of our child's teachers were exceptional. We recently had to move daycares because we ended up not buying a home near Primrose School of Hilburn. We were very sad to leave them, and we wish them the best! If there are any negatives, the 'carpool lane' is not always treated as a quick in and out, and you can often get stuck behind cars of parents that go inside and take their time getting out. The hours (7 AM to 6 PM) are a little shorter than other daycares we looked at. And, the holiday schedule seems to provide a few additional days off than we were accustomed to. We viewed each of these items as being very minor, and overall, we were very happy with our Primrose experience!

But the teachers and administrators worked so hard to ensure a smooth transition. They kept us up-to-date on his progress (and even called throughout the day to let us know that even with a rough drop off in the morning, he was having so much fun with his new friends shortly afterwards), and gave us tips to make the change easier. We have loved the teachers in every classroom that he has progressed to. With our youngest, there was no doubt he would also be joining his big brother. Dropping off an infant is always rough the first few weeks, but it was such natural experience at that point and the teachers are so caring with the babies, that I don't think a tear was shed (so different from my firstborn!). We love being able to follow their daily activities on their secure app, and they send us pictures throughout the day and summaries of what they learned and how we can continue with the lessons at home (ex. 'Toddlers did rhyming today, what kind of rhymes can you two come up with for the word xyz'). I had always thought that I would transfer our kids to preschool when the time came, but I see how much they learn every day at Primrose and know that we'll just make the switch to Kindergarten when the time comes. It's a great, involved school, where your kids are really cared for. All of the teachers, administrators, chef, etc know both of my kids by name and my toddler is always excited to give them hugs or run up for a high five. Extra bonus: It's close to Target so when we're in a rush to grab something on the way to pickup, we can always swing by Target for more diapers, etc.

We set up several tours, and decided on TLE, because we were impressed with the cleanliness, a clearly stated curriculum that involved both sign language and spanish, the bright, open, and colorful rooms, and loved how the owner took her time to explain how they worked, and what to expect so that we felt very comfortable leaving our son in their care. The staff is CPR certified, SIDS certified and have an Early Childhood Education background. They have indoor and outdoor areas for play. The outside area is covered and has plenty of equipment. Inside, they have a play room that looks like a little town with a slide for rainy days. We've been beyond thrilled with our decision. Each time you go to pick up your child, you have a key fab to open the secured doors, safety is big here. When you see your child in the classroom, the teachers always seem to be very involved. They don't sit back and just let your child play. Numerous times I walked in to the teacher holding my son, with his head on her shoulder, as happy as can be. This showed me she truly loved her job, and that he felt safe and secure in her arms. I also walked in to find her singing the wheels on the bus, as they danced and did hand signals, art time, and outdoor play. At the end of the day, you get a sheet that explains what your child did for the day. This includes the food they ate, and amount, their potty breaks, nap time, what they were learning that day, sign language for the week, anything needed from the parent to bring in like diapers or wipes, and their mood for the day. The learning section was always impressive to me. It is very detailed and my son seems to be ahead of the curve learning wise, which I can thank TLE for. As far as the price goes, it falls in line with others in the area, and the location is conveniently off of Glenwood Avenue, or the back way, Leesville Road. The owner, Ms. Jane has made this place what it is with love and heart. Jane knows every child and parents name, and has an open door policy. She can be seen in the classrooms, outside, and in the hallways. Having a visible owner who is involved is important to us. Being at TLE has made me feel like a part of a big family. Ms. Jane and the teachers very much love their children as if they are their own. Parents and staff are all a team, and the relationships built here are genuine. Obviously, I cannot say enough great things about this daycare. I have very high expectations when it comes to care for my son, which is why I felt the need to express my happiness here. Thank you to TLE for meeting and surpassing my expectations!

The shopping center is anchored by a Food Lion, so there is usually plenty of parking. It is to the right of Two Roosters Ice Cream and to the left of Greystone Recreation Center. The non-profit community theatre opened in 2002. I'm not sure exactly when I found this gem, but boy, has it changed since I started attending shows here. Seating was once all floor seats and has taken on many transformations since then. It currently has 8 rows of 12 seats, with row A being floor level and B-H as stadium seating, with an aisle in the middle. It has always been an intimate theatre, and you are never far from the stage. Besides the seating, professional-grade updates were made to both the lighting and technical side of things because of Liz Droessler. Ticket prices are reasonable, and there are reduced rates for educators, seniors and veterans. Seats are assigned, and the website makes it easy to select the seat you wish to sit in. Some of the seats are accessible. Tim Locklear became the managing artistic director in 2014. He welcomed me as well as those I introduced to this theatre. He strove to create an inclusive community and brought shows to venues I hadn't always heard of. He wasn't afraid to tackle the hot-topic shows and brought these issues to the forefront. These shows tackled alzheimer's, mental illness, PTSD, eugenics, abortion, race relations, and LGBTQ+ stories. Some of these shows were uncomfortable to watch, but the stories needed to be heard, and I left with a much better perspective. In 2022, NRACT won the NCTC Community Theatre Award for belonging, inclusion, and diversity. Tim retired in September 2025 but is still directing shows, most recently Boys in the Band. It is playing for a few more weeks if you want to see a deep show. The performances here are always high quality, from the talented performers to the sets and costumes. They've had Parade; Don't Bother Me, I can't Cope, Dot: Grown-Ups; Church and State; Next to Normal, Calendar Girls; Dogfight; Equus; Roe; Always Patsy Cline and Young Frankenstein are a few. If you want a story that stays with you, NRACT is where to go for meaningful theatre. It's the kind of place where you aren't just an anonymous seat number but a valued part of a community. Lormarev Jones recently took the helm as Managing Director, with Jess Barbour as Artistic Director, so I am excited to see what their energy brings to NRACT.
