I was terrified…read morebecause he had never been in a daycare before and I had been a stay at home mom, nervous to let anyone watch him because I knew no one would care for him like I do. I looked at a bunch of daycares where all the teachers seemed tired and miserable and lethargic. Some of them wouldn't even respond to me when I said hello. I've seen playgrounds with broken toys that could hurt the children. I've seen classrooms full of kids with snot all over their faces that led me to believe the teachers refused to wipe their noses and in turn giving way to a vicious cycle of sick children. Then I found the Sunshine House in Mount Pleasant. Everyone was warm and welcoming, the kids were happy, the toys were unbroken and age appropriate, and Ms. Jane Anne had a kid in her lap and was wiping his nose! My son who is very clingy was anxious to squirm out of my arms and play on the playground and I instantly felt that he would be safe and cared for here. It's not conveniently located for me, but it's worth the extra drive for a daycare that exceeded my expectations. They even provide free diapers and wipes as well as breakfast, lunch, and snack. They also have flexible schedules so I can gradually increase his time there until I find a job. So happy I found the sunshine house!

We LOVE CDC Park West. When we moved to Mount Pleasant in Dec 2024, our son joined the toddler…read moreroom. This is his third daycare in 3 years. We loved the two before this one BUT CDC is by far the best. The administration and leadership team are warm, welcoming, and so engaged. They know the kids and the families. At each interaction you can feel that they love what they do and they truly care. The staff are patient, kind, and invested in each student's happiness and growth. Beyond the curriculum, there are frequent events that involve families (muffins with mom, donuts with dad, holiday get togethers), and lots of great activities like music days, water days in the summer, stretch and grow, soccer, Spanish language learning (when students are a bit older). The facility is new, clean, and stunning including an indoor play area and age appropriate playgrounds outside. Most importantly, our son loves to go to CDC. He frequently talks about his teachers and friends when he's home and asks to go to school on the weekends (we try not to take offense lol). Couldn't recommend CDC more!

She had a bump on her head which nobody even knew about. When I addressed all of the above, they put her in a less advanced classroom. I'm interested in my child advancing, not being dumbed down because I complain about the lack of supervision! I was told, "she will have more attention in a younger room." So rather than figuring out how to better staff the rooms, they just cram babies together. She was sick constantly! It was the first time she was sick ever at 14 mos thanks to this school. On a side note, when a mom came to pick up her kid, she asked the assistant director about the antibiotics the school was supposed to be timely administering . The assistant director said she "completely forgot!" The mom was so upset. I left within the first month. Horrible experience!

To the parents that are overwhelmed with the daycare choices in Mount Pleasant, Chesterbrook is by…read morefar the best choice I have made for my daughter. I am a teacher for CCSD and have experience at other daycares in the area, none compare to Chesterbrook! Ms. Tiffany is a principal that truly cares for every child that walks in the door and knows how to run a school for the well-being of children. She is frequently in the various classrooms helping where she can, setting a visible standard for all teachers and can aid in tantrum/boundaries like a pro. It is obvious she is knowledgeable in childhood development and knows that doing HER job of supporting the teachers, will allow them to be the best they can be for our kids. This then leads me to say that the teachers at this school are also outstanding! If you want your toddler to be able learn age-appropriate boundaries but still have an environment where adults show grace, teach coping skills and allow kids to explore, then this is your daycare. My daughter comes home covered in dirt and paint but has also learned to wait her turn, say "excuse me" to adults, share with peers and now has the social emotional skills to calm herself down in a tantrum. I owe it all to the LOVE, the PATIENCE and the EVIDENCE-BASED educational skills this school enforces!

My son literally cried and physically pulled away from me every time I dropped him off. The teacher was cold and not comforting to my son who was crying and obviously upset. Every day I picked him up and he was sitting alone in the corner. The staff was not very friendly or personable. Not the best experience. I've heard several similar stories from other people, as well. I've read its changed since my son went, so hopefully, that is true and they made some major changes.
