I took a chance and booked Le Palacete on Expedia as a bundled package with my airline tickets. It…read morewas "taking a chance" because I generally book either a brand name hotel or one with hundreds of reviews solely because I like to know what I'm getting before hand, but it was a chance that I'm glad I took! Le Palacete is located in the Gracia neighborhood of Barcelona and is a perfect choice if you want a slower pace and taste of how locals live. Yes, it's a little farther away from many of the popular tourist attractions like La Boqueria, the Gothic Quarter, and La Rambla (which I would AVOID like the plague, btw) but also it's a short walk to other attractions like Parc Guell, La Sagrada Familia, as well as both Casa Batllo and La Pedrera. Additionally, Joanic station is less than a five minute walk away so you'll be able to easily access the entire city with little effort or time. The hotel is small-10 rooms total, I believe, but it packs a punch! First, the service was excellent. Since the hotel was small the staff was small and we didn't see them very often but everyone we interacted with was incredibly and authentically friendly. Also, the housekeeping staff kept our room spotless and well stocked with fresh towels and toiletries. We were in a Junior comfort suite which was large enough for a king bed, a love seat, a table and two chairs and still had enough room for my husband to do his workouts without having to move anything around. The shower was average sized with good water pressure and the toilet was conveniently place in its own room. I'm not sure about the other suites but the shower is pretty much visible as soon as you walk in the room and without a ton of privacy depending on where in the living area you're sitting- not a big deal since it was just my husband and I, but if you're shy or you're sharing the room with people who don't regularly see you naked you might want to take note. I'm pretty sure that they have onsite dining in the picturesque courtyard beyond the check-in area as well as room service but we didn't take advantage of this since there were SO many places we wanted to try in Barcelona. A few other details to note: -There isn't a traditional always-manned front desk. When you arrive to check in you buzz the button near the front door and someone will arrive to let you into the small but cozy lobby then check you in. It might take a few minutes for someone to get there but chill out, you're in Spain and the pace is slower there! -The elevator is small and quite slow. Not a big deal since the building is a few stories tall but worth noting if you are impatient and have mobility issues. -There isn't an on-site gym. Again, not a big deal especially since you're likely going to be doing a ton of walking while you're in Barcelona you might want to have a backup plan for exercise if you're as consistent with your workout as my husband (the neighborhood is perfect for a good run). -Our room didn't have a stand to put your luggage on. Not sure if it was just our room or if this is the norm. Again, nbd since the room was large. -When we got our room keycard we failed to check whether or not they opened the front door to he hotel or not. We learned that they didn't when we strolled back to the hotel our first night after several hours of drinking and eating. Check that your keycard works in the front door before you leave the first time. In summary, we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to rebook the next time we're in Barcelona!

TLDR: Come for the rooftop views of Barcelona, not so much for the stay…read more While Barceló Raval's rooftop offers one of the best panoramic views of Barcelona, the hotel itself is giving knockoff of the W. They try to give off that sexy, mysterious vibe, but as soon as you step into the room, the green ceiling, cheap fixtures and damask wallpaper give it away. The hotel is reasonably "affordable" for its location (near the Gothic Quarter and La Barceloneta), but definitely in a sketchy area. I highly advise walking outside the hotel at night, as you'll find the rough crowds your parents warned you about. The nearest metro station is about a 10-minute walk, and to get there, you have to cut through some of the sketchiest alleys. I booked through Expedia and was upgraded to a room with a view, a bottle of mini wine & an extra bottle of water. My amenities weren't so great from the moment I opened the door. Since my room was pretty high up, the room was stifling & those views were blocked by a stainless steel mesh. FYI: your room requires a key card at all times if you're trying to use electricity, which includes air conditioning. The shower initially felt luxurious--spacious with a giant waterfall head and solid water pressure--followed by lush bath towels, but that impression faded once I noticed the pockets of mold and grime in the corners. Sleeping was also a challenge since walls are thin and anytime the guests next to me entered their room, it sounded like someone was entering mine, which kept me paranoid and on high alert. Rooftop: the rooftop not only offers panoramic views of Barcelona, but also has a bar and pool, though hard to even suggest the pool is an amenity since it's more so for aesthetic than functionality. On the roof, it's not an open floor plan, so you'll have to walk around the building to get a full 360 view. For those who are height deficient such as myself: prepare for obstructed views because of the high railings (great for safety, but not so much for those under 5'3).

At the entrance/front desk area there is a small but very clean and modern lobby with modest but nice decorations. There are only two seats but they move pretty quick so there isn't much need to sit unless you're waiting for a ride. Several times a day the staff was cleaning, dusting and mopping the floor. We came back and went back out a lot. Our rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels were left. The rooms are European standard small but more than enough for two. Surprisingly the bathroom was a good size and the shower is bigger than most. We were on the first floor by the elevator but the hotel guest were respectfully quiet. The only disturbance was the running water that could be clearly heard when our neighbor took a shower. Our room was sparse but modern and clean. The mattress was firm but comfortable not top of the line just what you need for a good nights sleep. The room has a refrigerator and a kettle stocked with tea and coffee. This hotel is an excellent location for traveling around Barcelona. The train/metro is 1 1/2 blocks away. Make GOOGLE MAPS your friend and purchase a 10 trip 'pass'. You can get almost everywhere from this hotel in 15-30 minutes. Great value, service and location.

Beautiful, well-appointed building, lobby sitting areas, restaurant, etc. Staff were friendly and very accommodating with bag storage, delivering bags to our room before we returned, restaurant recommendations and more. The rooftop is big with pool, bar and a number of seating areas for a 360 view of the city. Relaxing place to sit with a drink. Spa in basement is nice with all amenities. You have to reserve use and it's capped at 30 mins. Rooms are decent size allowing for suitcases and still moving around room. Bathroom is clean and has everything needed including heated towel rack and bidet. Although robes weren't included we found some at spa we used for the remainder of our trip. Lobby is very spacious and comfy, and there is live music in Thur-Sun. Great place to relax with a drink after exploring all day. Breakfast was extensive and a nice start to each day. Included made to order as well as plenty of ready made options for all palettes. The Not as Good We reserved both a superior and classic room but couldn't tell the difference for an additional 130 euros. The front desk said the superior had "more light." Potentially but not sure that was described as difference for what we paid. The rooms lack power outlets. Nothing by bedside. USB by desk but no USB-C or Int'l plugs. We had phones plugged in behind chairs, tea kettle sitting on floor, laptop in bathroom... The subway is underneath the hotel and even though we're on the 4th floor it was loud with lots of vibration. We had Do Not Disturb on for our entire trip but staff entered regardless and made up room. Not a big deal but surprised us and meant we had to put our belongings away every time we left not knowing who would enter when. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we would come back but many hotels we passed by looked like good options as well.

The pool is more like a cold jacuzzi (that's how small it is), but I found the food at the terrace to be surprisingly good (although slightly overpriced - but what do you expect from a hotel?) We ordered the burger and burrata (which came out purple) and it was served along this tomato savory ice cream which I absolutely loved!!!!!!! Would go back just to get the tomato ice cream and burrata. We stayed in the apartments next to Casa Fuster but you have access to all the hotel's amenities and we also enjoyed a meal at Aleia (Michelin restaurant) - separate review. It's nice having an apartment where you have access to a kitchen, dining area, washer/dryer - especially when you can't afford or handle eating out all the time, especially with a one year old child. The only reason I deduced one star is that our dryer never worked (it's a washer/dryer combo) and also the dishwasher was broken (gave an error message each time). We called the hotel and they did send someone to investigate the dishwasher (we were already warned in advance the dryer may not work and luckily the bathroom comes with a heating rack and we were able to dry our clothes that way). However, he did not know what the dishwasher error message meant, and he said he would go and look up what to do about it- and then we never heard from him the entire week we were there. Besides him, the rest of the staff was fantastic - the doorman actually gave us recommendations for places to eat at - and he was spot on. the place is located near grocery stores and pharmacies so if you forgot something to pack in your luggage you don't need to worry here. The hotel is also walking distance to lots of bakeries, eateries, and even a local charcuterie place (that's better than Boqueria market imo)

In the photos, the hotel seemed to be located very close to Sagrada Familia that you could see it up close from the terrace of the hotel. It is located in a good location in the city. I wondered why the price is lower than the other similar hotels. But this turned out to be a sweet deal! The hotel staff spoke enough English and they could not be any more courteous and pleasant! Everyone I interacted with at the front desk during my stay were just wonderful! The decor through out was modern and pleasing! The room I stayed in was on the 4th floor and it was well kept. It was a bit small, but for one person, it was perfect! WiFi worked well and the room had all the basic amenities. Breakfast is not included, it is additional $14 for a buffet. They have fresh fruit, chia pudding, croissants, pastries, hazelnuts and walnuts, boiled eggs, omelette, fresh fruit smoothie, juices and coffee. One night during my stay, I ordered room service for which they charged about 2 euros additional on the total price. The food was delicious! All guests get free water bottles on the first day of the stay. Make sure that you get them when you check-in. I have used their laundry service and it was quick and efficient. I handed them the clothes, that need to be washed , in the morning and they handed them back in the evening. Coming to the view of the Sagrada Familia from the terrace, it was wonderful! So was the terrace! The hotel is actually one block away from it, but the view was still beautiful! The metro is right around the corner from the hotel, there are plenty of food places nearby, quite a few convenience stores, an electronics store, a camera store and more. There is also a Burger King and McDonald's. Hotel is about 10 mins away from the beach. My only complaint with the room was that it didn't have a window looking outside. The window was facing inside the building. So, when it got a bit warm inside the room, I was not able to open the window to cool it down a bit. There was a thermostat in the room, but I wanted fresh air.

Since we were flying to Barcelona from the States, I requested an early check-in of 12 noon through the Marriott app. And as our travel date got closer, I received an email from the Manager of the hotel a week before our travel date welcoming us to the hotel and asking if there was anything that we needed. I responded asking for the early check-in and mentioned that I made a request on the app previously as well. The email reply was that they could not guarantee anything for an early check-in. As it turns out, my flight was delayed and we finally arrived at the hotel at 3pm, exhausted and ready for a quick snooze and shower. Unbelievably, my room was not ready at 3pm; therefore, my recommendation is to not stay at this hotel if you are traveling from abroad. When we did get our room, we had one towel in the room and that was it, no wash clothes, hand towels or anything else. We were not sure if this was a Spain thing with the towels. The next day we asked for towels and did receive some, but no wash clothes. Have you ever tried to wash yourself in the shower with the liquid soaps on the shower wall? After two days, we finally got wash clothes. I also wanted to provide other feedback of the hotel. Our room was very small, and after we checked out and boarded our cruise, we realized that our room on the cruise was actually bigger than our room at the Renaissance, go figure. We never actually felt like we had a working AC system, hot every night and we actually reported it and asked them to look at it. No feedback from the staff on this after it was reported. And as for our view from the room, we saw the top of another building adjacent to us. I would also mention that this does not have a pool, the picture of a pool is deceiving. As a Marriott Platinum Elite member I would have expected more, we made the best of what we had but the stay was disappointing to say the least.
