Nothing wrong with that, and the staff do make an impact on the atmosphere, but last time I was in there, the kids were running riot and there was not much peace in the back section. Maybe it's changed very recently, but I'd rather have some peace with my Sunday Lunch, as well as the peas! It's easy to find, being right off of the Houghton Regis roundabout - enough car parking space and always people both in the sports bar and the family bar. They have a big event tent in the back that they use for either extra restaurant seating or to rent out. Our family hosted a wedding celebration for us back there and they let us bring our own food, cake, and decorations, but had a bar window open so everyone could still order drinks from them. We were told the pub is 500 years old, which is kind of amazing. We only had a limited selection of entrees since we were on a tight schedule. The fish & chips and the burger were the popular choices. I ended up ordering the burger, which was really good, but I must say the fish really looked yummy too. The burger was perfectly cooked, with cheese and bacon with fries on the side. Of course we also had to have a nice cold beer with our food, so we got a big one :-) This is definitely a place I would like to come back to and try something else from their menu, and I'm guessing it's a really nice place in the summer as well, as they have a lot of outdoor seating as well.
