We had two great meals at The Garlic. Our server, Taylor, was fantastic. She was very helpful when talking about each dish, made great suggestions and also took some extra time to briefly chat with us during the service. We sat behind live entertainment and was a bit nervous about that BUT, it was perfect. The music was mellow and helped create a wonderful dining atmosphere. Ordered an appetizer of calamari and two separate dinners of seafood Italiano and Spuntitori Italian. The calamari was very good. The seafood Italiano was good and the spuntitori italiano was good aside from the fact that the pasta was much chewier than aldente. The meatballs were just ok. The house salad was atrocious considering what was paid for each dish. It was as simple a salad as a salad can be. The Garlic has been long known for the place to eat in NSB so we gave it a try. They have a hand written noodle with the specials for the day that is a small detail showing how much they care. The food all comes out hot and quick. The atmosphere is splendid with live music and chatter from guests not overly loud. I've come here a handful of times. Each meal was splendid. The appetizers are always a hit. Fresh hot bread with a whole garlic that has been roasted for hours to be soft and flavorful. The Harlots cheese was fantastic to pair with this. The bruschetta, and caprese is very well done and neither is soggy. The bread is toasty the cheese flavorful and the toppings add the perfect blend of fresh flavors to compliment the dressing and mozzarella. The Chicken parm is a large order and good size like many items on their menu. The sauce is fantastic and cheese is very cheesy. The Quattro Cheese Manicotti is absolutely one of the best stuffed manicotti dishes I have tried. Very memorable and very good. It's another large dish with plenty of sauce and it holds together well. Ravioli Bolognaise was another dish I enjoyed! Very good and has a bit of heat to it. The meat sauce is fiery chunky in the best way possible. They do not hesitate to put flavor into their food and each bite had plenty of ground fillet to go with the ravioli. The spice was not overly hot and added a nice touch to the plate that did not have me reaching for a drink. The bar mixed drinks are good but they are not the reason I come here and I have skipped them on occasion. I'm here for great dishes and excellent service! And I am happy to say every time I have gone I have received both, and each time I have left, I took hope a large to go order with left overs that heat up amazingly well! Riding out and about on our motorcycle and started to get hungry... we were in the area and thought we'd see what the wait was... not long at 4:00 p.m. on a Sunday, so we went in... If you know about this restaurant, there are no reservations and it's first come, first served. And, your entire party must be there or you won't get seated. Started off with their smashed garlic on their crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside bread. We tried the artichoke dip and it was fabulous. So much so that we thought we'd be full before our main course even arrived. Hubby ordered his usual seafood cannelloni which he said was just as good as before. This time I tried the chicken parmigiano, which was a generous portion of two large flattened chicken breasts over linguini and their red sauce. Extra parmesan cheese on top? Yes, please! Service was amazing. We barely finished one plate and the next was being set down. Water always filled and plenty of napkins. Our server even found us special packaging for our leftovers as we were on a motorcycle with saddle bags which do not accommodate flat containers. Decided to finally try out this famous NSB staple and I'm so glad we did. This place gets insanely packed, we literally showed up around 4:20 and they open at 4pm we waited for about 30 minutes for a table for two. The parking was all over the place like literally just shove your car anywhere you can where there is no signs for no parking, that on its own was a bit overwhelming. The food was absolutely delicious so it truly was worth the situation with parking! Service was great and very fast, even with how busy it all was, everything came out super timely. I think the only disappointment that we had was not being able to check out the entire restaurant! In our 12 years of living in Florida, we have driven by here many times, but have not actually ate here. We came on a Wednesday around 4:50 PM and it was already incredibly busy. This establishment does walk ups only, there are no reservations. We were sat quickly. Our waiter brought out warm bread with two garlic bulbs that he put oil and balsamic on then mashed with a fork. It was so delicious! My mom ordered the eggplant Parmesan with their special red sauce that has olives in it. I ordered the chicken Parmesan. My husband ordered the crazy alfredo, which was a special that day. By the way, they put their specials on a lasagna noodle! The chicken cutlet was as big as the bowl. I finally made it out to the coast to try the Garlic, and it was so worth the wait! I see why there's a line every night - the ambiance is whimsical and tons of fun, the food is fantastic, and the staff are delightful. We showed up right before they opened at 4pm and didn't have a wait, so I'd recommend that for sure! It was still packed when we left. Our server was attentive, so helpful with the menu, and never rushed us. Of course, we started with their complimentary bread and whole head of roasted garlic for dipping - delish! The bread is so fresh. We went all out on apps, with mussels, calamari, and bruschetta. The bruschetta was the standout for us - the flavor was incredible and the quality really stuck out to us! The mussels were in a white wine sauce with some sweetness to it, which was both different and really nice. Calamari was up to par as well! The garlic is a truly unique and amazing experience. From the garlic bread starter and red sangria, to their amazing pastas and dessert, we love every part of the experience here. The staff is extremely friendly and warm, and anytime their specials include vodka sauce it's a must try. I love their red sangria because it's more red wine based instead of artificial like other places. This was my first visit and all I kept hearing was, "you gotta go"!! So, I went with 3 other people and it was, unfortunately, uneventful in the way of flavors. Everyone truly enjoyed their meals except for me. I had the Caesar salad and rigatoni. The rigatoni was great. I got to take some home and 2nd day pasta is always better. My gripe was with the salad and the bread served w/smashed garlic. The dressing on the salad was so bland and they topped it with crispy Parmesan chips that really didn't taste good. Too greasy. The bread was served table side and the server smashed the grilled garlic and added olive oil and balsamic vinegar and it should have just been left alone. The balsamic was too much and overtook the flavor. Ask them to go light on the dressings. To be fair, my friends did enjoy theirs. Not pictured, I tried the Zuppa de Garlic, which is a garlic and potato soup as my appetizer. Let me tell you; get this soup. I will keep this slightly secretive. Trust me. We had the Caesar salad for our table and I will say, it was good but compared to other caesers I have had, it was t my favorite but you get a salad with any entree (the Caesar is a slight upcharge so take that into account). But my showstopper was the Char-grilled Filet Mignon. Medium Rare, served with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. NOTHING was left on my plate. The balance is absolutely perfect and the facesmack of garlic is AMAZING. I paired the steak with a Pinot Noir (Kings End Inscription) than was *chefs kiss* MUAH... As soon as you walk in the aroma of garlic hits you. And it smells absolutely fantastic . It is a treehouse of sorts with various rooms. To start, no, they do not take reservations or call aheads, it is first come first serve and your entire party needs to arrive before they will seat you. On a Friday arrived a few minutes before they opened and people were already parking and getting sat. I love that they have ample seating if you are waiting and a bar you can order drinks from while your party waits. We were sat in a beautiful enclosed section off the restrooms and felt like we were our own private party. The garlic bread is complimentary and an entire roasted clove of garlic is served to you at the table. After reading some reviews I wanted to read the history about the chicken and our waitress gave us a menu which was quite interesting. There is no happy hour or early dining specials. The food was good but not the best. You really do come for the atmosphere not the quality of food. We had a fantastic time celebrating my mother's birthday at this New Smyrna gem. The Garlic does not take reservations, which can be good and bad at the same time. He did a great job making our first visit memorable. He started us off with warm bread and a large oven-roasted garlic which he made in front of us by smashing the garlic and mixing it with crushed black pepper, virgin olive oil and 12 year aged balsamic vinaigrette. The white sangria was very watered down due to tons of ice, not enough fruit, and tasted virgin. Would definitely not order again. However, all of our entrees were amazing. They each came with a houses salad, so Jimmy brought it out family style in one large bowl to share. The salad was fresh and went well with the olive oil and vinaigrette. I ordered the "Seafood Cannelloni" which contained an array of scallops, shrimp, and mahi mahi wrapped in fresh pasta baked with a newburg sauce. It was absolutely amazing! My mother ordered the "Pollo Marsala" which was sautéed chicken with shallots and mushrooms in a classic marsala wine sauce served with garlic mashed potatoes. She enjoyed it but it wasn't as amazing as my dish. My wife ordered the "Shrimp And Scallop Scampi" which obviously cones with sea scallops and shrimp sauteed in a light white wine and garlic herb butter sauce served over linguini. It was really busy and they told us it would be a 2hr wait, we agreed since we drove 45mins to eat here and I was already committed to eating here at that point. The place is a maze, so many different sections I had no idea where I was going when I walked inside to "the bar" well, there are so many bars we just chose one. Ordered a drink and after about 49mins a couple left and we sat at the bar, thank God didn't have to wait 2hrs like we originally thought. I ordered: Pasta Pomodoro fresh chopped tomatoes, basil, and shallots sautéed with garlic, fresh herbs and parmesan cheese tossed with linguini and meatballs. I also ordered a Margarita. They bought us fresh bread with roasted Garlic, to start with and it was so good, didn't take a picture because there are so many on here already, you don't need another bread pic! We had the best time at The Garlic! We were celebrating my mother-n-laws birthday. I have a food sensitivity to garlic (presently resolved with medication) so I had never been. Boy! Was I missing out! Alan M. Was our server. He was fantastic! He was so chill and easy going. The restaurant is huge! It's mostly outdoor with fans and such but even in 90 degrees it was comfortable. We ordered so much and everything just kept getting better. The bread and spreadable garlic were so amazing! I came here on a Monday night and it was packed. The wait was around 35 minutes so we put our names on the waitlist and headed to the Blue Bar. The restaurant is like this huge maze with so many things to see. You could definitely get lost coming back from the bathroom. At the bar, we ordered a round of drinks while we waited. I got a martini which I would have liked to be a little sweeter. The bartenders were really nice and friendly. Finally, we were called and headed to our table. We sat right by the live music. The musician Joey did it all. He was so talented and really set the mood. We met our server and he was good. The restaurant is called the Garlic because they bring out fresh bread and mash up garlic and put oil and vinegar for you to dip the bread in. The bread was so hot and crisp. We got an appetizer and ordered our meals. Meals come with salad and you can get a soup for an upcharge. I got the Bocce Ball which is a Filet Mignon meatball the weight of a bocce ball over linguine. I had no idea it would be so big. I was stuffed. Unfortunately, no one had room for dessert. Many people shy away from this place because usually there's at least an hour wait. But so worth it. Not only is the food worth waiting for but honestly, the ambience is so unique. For drinks, we couldn't resist "The Big Chicken" (a pitcher of wine), which not only has a great name but paired perfectly with everything we ordered. First timers here and it won't be our last. I've lived in Florida for almost six years now and as a Yelp Elite - all my friends and family said to try this place! We parked with ease and our wait was about less than 10 minutes on a Sunday night. They have an outdoor bar which we took advantage of! Two cold beers to start the night. After a couple of minutes, we got the text to check in and we were sat at the live music section. We were greeted immediately by Daniel, and he served our salads and wine in a timely manner. We got the house salad, Ceasar salad, and Underrated wine (Cabernet Sauvignon). So delicious that we bought a bottle to bring home! After the famous roasted garlic and bread, he offered to wait for our pastas to come out which was so courtesy. We've never had that option before and it's a really smart move to wait for our entrees to arrive after having a huge salad and bread. After we downed our glasses, we were ready for our pastas. We shared the Pasta Pomodoro and Shrimp and Scallop Scampi. Just the perfect size and heaps of garlic! We ended the night with desserts - chocolate cannolis. We are so impressed with this place. I've been to many unique places in Florida, and this dining experience exceeded expectations. We woke up the next morning still talking about how great our evening was at The Garlic. It's an expensive place to bring your whole family, so just keep it between you and your partner. The vibes are for couples. Thank you, Daniel for such a wonderful night! We love The Garlic! We had our rehearsal dinner here years ago, and ever since, it's been a must-visit every time we're in NSB. There are no reservations and it's definitely a popular spot, so be prepared to wait--but it's always worth it! The food comes out quickly, always hot and delicious, and the service is consistently excellent. The staff really knows how to read the room--whether you're out for a long, relaxed dinner or dining with kids (like we were this time), they time everything perfectly. Highly recommend the Osso Buco--it's incredible--and honestly, all the pastas are great. Such a special place with amazing food and atmosphere! read more
