My son has attended since February 2019 when he was just barely 3. It is an exceptional learning environment that keeps little minds engaged and on fire. It is much different than traditional daycare. Night and day actually. They teach reading, writing, math, geography, cultures, and history and so so much more. They continually are exposing the children to new foods and such creatively planned and exciting learning experiences. Just recently they completed a couple weeks trek on the trans Siberian railway (a train made from refrigerator boxes) where they learned about trains and made stops along the way where they studied the culture, climate, geography and history. This week they are studying Africa. Making drums and talking about the different animals native to different regions. They do two plays a year with costumes and rehearsals and my son has been able to memorize his lines and perform and be part of the productions with his classmates. What the Garden School has provided my family is immeasurable!! If traditional preschool is sterile with Naptime and goldfish crackers, the Garden School is non traditional in the best possible way!!! They have dances, field trips, class elections, water days, bouncy house fridays and more. But most of all, they are truly family. Anyone seeking an exceptional learning environment that will no doubt spark a quest for learning that will set them up for success for entering "big school", should inquire for enrollment. Oh and they by far have the best food ever. All healthy and homemade. You will not find another place like The Garden School!! This is such a special place!! read more

This is the best preschool in Evansville hands down! Both of my children attended this school and they both loved it. My son attended 2 years and my daughter attended 3 years.They both still talk about the Garden School days. Some of the things that make this school exceptional is they make learning fun for the kids and the kids learn so much. My children started at the top of their class when they entered the public school system because of how well they were taught by Miss Judy and her staff. They also learned to have good self esteem. They were able to participate in plays and perform for us parents. And I wish the public school system fed the kids like the Garden School did. Healthy, home made foods that made the kids interested in trying new things and eating well. They work off a reward system to help the children stay on course. My son was a very "high spirited" child and they handled him better than any other facility I had tried. He thrived there and that made us both feel good! They also were able to experience so many wonderful activities such as visiting The Feline Rescue Center, Mammoth Cave, the Zoo, Garden of the Gods, the list goes on and on. I cannot say enough about how much of a positive impact this school had on both of my children's lives. Take it from a parent that has YEARS of experience with this fine school. This place is wonderful. They build the kids up and encourage them to try new things, new foods, new experiences. The meals are nutritious and delicious. These kids have art shows, put on plays, learn to care for and respect animals, learn to be kind to each other, and learn respect for others as well as self respect. They also learn reading, math, science, health, art, history, civics, ...you name it. They are encouraged to play,and are expected to dress accordingly. Yes! They get dirty. They are encouraged to learn to swim on their field trips. And what fantastic field trips. Many parents go along on these trips every time. And parents are able to visit, as I frequently did. My grandkids have gone to the Garden School for many years. They started because it was recommended to me by a Social Worker friend whose daughter went there. This is my family's business. We have taken care of children for over 25 years. We now get to delight in graduates bringing their littles back to us for care. It hurts my heart to read the negative, and inflammatory comments from people that weren't satisfied with our program. We've even received reviews from people that weren't ever clients!!! We are a transparent program with family involved activities frequently throughout the year. Our program boasts two plays, a special visit with grandparents, a trip to trick or treat with residents of nursing homes, a summer program to die for, and a holiday party with a gift for EVERY child (older siblings included). We sing, and teach music, language, and art every day. This program cares about early childhood. Choose us! This is the most unique and impressive early childhood program in the area. Kids have the ability to play all day in between classes like math, reading, writing, circle time. French, art, and singing classes are offered. They have a pet room with small critters for kiddos to go and see and pet. And the backyard is almost as good a city park. Feel trips are frequent and the meals are all nutritious and homemade. My son loves it there and compared to places he went in the past, he never wants to leave and never cries at drop off. He always wants to be at school. The teachers are oldschool but also employ new ideas. They helped my kid who wasn't well behaved when he started, to become a totally different child. Through kindness, discipline and effort the staff at the Garden School helped improve my son's behavior. We are so happy there !!! read more

The Garden School is shocked that a company like Yelp would allow someone to slander a place that has been an asset to the community for over twenty years by using a totally fictitious police report. I am guessing you can get on this site and slander anyone you want any way you want which ultimately makes this site worthless. There are seventeen good reviews that are located in the "Not recommended" part of this page. The Garden School is an academic based program that teaches reading, writing and arithmetic along with the liberal arts. We teach along side parents, but parents have to be willing to do some of the work. It's not a program for every family because the program is geared for parents who are willing to work with their children, read the materials sent home, and take an interest in the hundreds of extras we offer. read more

My daughter got her educational start at the garden school. I firmly believe that is why she has never missed an honor roll in her charter school. She was given a firm base with which to grow on and has kept her thirst for knowledge strong. Instead of over extended play times she was learning geography and language arts at three years old. She would come home so excited to show us on the map what she learned. The staff always kept her engaged and interested and made learning fun. Something she uses to this day. My daughter is nine years old now and I can't express enough gratitude to the staff at the Garden School for helping her enjoy learning. My only regret is moving across the country because I would want my son to go here as well. You will not find a better place for you preschooler to go to. Period, end of story. read more

We love The Garden School! Between my two oldest daughters, they have been going there for over 3 years. They have learned so much in their time at the school. My youngest is very timid and shy and has really come out of her shell since starting there. She just turned 4 and is writing her name. She even asks to go to school on weekends. I've never once had a negative experience and the teachers have my utmost trust that they will take care of my children like they are their own. All of the food they serve is made by the teachers and my kids love it! They go on amazing field trips and help teach the kids to swim if they attend their summer program (they take them swimming twice a week all summer). If you're curious about the school, I encourage you to check it out for yourself; you will not be disappointed. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school. My son started attending when he turned three years old. The staff is caring and devoted to teaching the kiddos with all their hearts. He comes home every day and can tell me about his classes, their outside time, and the delicious foods they eat. The food choices are one of the main reasons I appreciate the school so much. Every meal is made from scratch without processed ingredients. They eat like little adults. No kid food. He is a leader at our home dinner table, encouraging my two year old to eat well, too. He is starting to read (he is now four) and is incredibly proud of his achievements. Very happy to have this wonderful school as part of my son's life. This school is amazing... With parents and siblings who have taught for years, I have seen a wide range of schools and teaching styles, and I know superior quality when I see it. I heard about Garden School through a chance meeting, visited it, and knew it was the place my daughter HAD to be. Very rarely do you find a place where they know how to teach the whole child - good manners, appreciation of healthy food, love of learning, striving to do your best, being respectful of others, and much more. The many opportunities the children are offered here are matched nowhere else. They truly love the children they work with, and the children's whole families as well. It's a precious, rare find - I wish there was a similar place for elementary age children! read more

It's a great little school with loving teachers! My son adores the friends he's made there. He brags about the food and achievements he's done. In his year and half there he has learned to read, uses sign language, some French, can do basic math, and gained confidence in himself. They do things other places don't! The field trips are awesome. They encourage the kids to try new foods and activities. There are multiple plays each year and homework assignments throughout the week. This is so much more than a daycare! Parent involvement isn't only encouraged it's required. They encourage play and tolerance. Their animal room is amazing! We've sent our whole family there and hope to send the next generation as well! read more

My son and nephew went to the garden school for several years. They continued to go through summers through 2nd grade. Both loved the school! So many activities. Both were reading, writing and speaking french when entering public school. The field trips are amazing. and the summer program is so fun. Both boys learned to swim during their weekly swim field trips. Food is home made and healthy. I loved the open door policy where I could stop by on my lunch and say hi to my son as well. Teachers communicated very well with curriculum and behavior each day. I recommend The Garden School all the time to families looking for a structured environment where kids will not only have fun but actually learn as well. read more

There is absolutely no other place I would send my children! They provided my daughter with so many amazing experiences. They are simply too numerous to list them all. They not only opened her eyes to different cultures and styles of learning, they taught her about respect, responsibility and leadership. They taught her to read, write, speak in public and introduced her all sorts of food and nutrition. They even taught her to swim! They put 100% of their love and care into everything they do and it shows on these kiddos faces! My daughter still talks about being class president, quiche queen, participating in plays and all the amazing field trips! read more

I cannot express our gratitude towards The Garden School. My son went there for two and a half years, and when we were going to put him into kindergarten in the public system because the tuition was becoming difficult, due to a job change, they worked with our family to make sure he continued to get the outstanding education they provide. All of the ladies were amazing and to this day 5 years later he still gets a birthday card and looks forward to that every year. My son wouldn't be the student he is today without his early education at the garden school! read more

I highly recommend this school. I cannot say enough good things. My children STILL get a birthday card every year and they haven't attended this school since 2008. My youngest daughter was born in 2011 and they include her in the birthday well wishes too!! Talk about customer service and genuine interest in children and their families!! Both of my children attended The Garden School, and it was a truly wonderful experience. Every day brought a new and exciting challenge, as they learned how to navigate school, make friends and try new things. The teachers are very warm and caring, and I always marveled at their creativity. This is an environment that will make your children think, feel, and experience life. My son attended this school for 3 years and 4 summers. He was reading fluently and writing before entering kindergarten thanks to GS and its staff. He's 8 now and still wants to go there. Yes it is a strict place but I believe that's exactly what kids need today. My son learned respect and appropriate school behavior in addition to academics. We can't wait for our 8 mo old to be able attend and reap all of the benefits this one of a kind, amazing place has to offer! read more

My daughter attended this school 1 1/2 years. We really enjoyed it. There was plenty of unique social interaction and I feel it prepped her for Kindergarten. I attended field trips myself quite a few times and saw firsthand how the teachers interacted with student. They provide a diverse menu with food made on site. They learned lines to a play and performed it for the parents. I was always pleased with the positive reinforcement. I would recommend the school. read more

This is a wonderful school that teaches everything from reading to French to ASL ,this school tries to help the children understand that kindness and respect should be shown to everyone,it may not be for everyone because The Garden School's expectations are high for the children and parent participation is a must! So if your looking for a babysitter, it's probably not for you but if your looking for a well rounded educational preschool for your child this is it. read more
