I headed for Jessops after a bit of a camera crisis this morning. I'd been out taking photos of…read morecentral Birmingham when my main camera lens cap decided to get jammed. I needed to take more photos so posted a panicky message on Facebook. Ling, one of the other local Yelpers came to my rescue in seconds and suggested Jessops. Anyway, from the top of the Cube, I headed over to Jessops with a few diversions. There was a greeter on the door so I asked if anyone could help with my lens cap problem. The greeter then took me over to one of the counters, fiddled and prodded the lens for a while, looked perplexed then tried again giving it a huge tug and off it popped showing no signs of damage. This made me very happy as I'd only had the lens a couple of months! Top scoring for a quick and cost free service. PS I must go back to Jessops and have a look at their equipment later.

There is something here for everyone. Only the flowers are available online however. And Gift vouchers are ONLY available through Facebook. After all, we're not exactly spoilt for choice for shops in Brindleyplace! However, the flowers are stunning and they offer some amazing arrangements. I've noticed, Ethos have started an on-line service now too so you can order gifts that they will send for you. I especially love the flowers in a teacup and saucer which is unique in an arena where it must be so hard to come up with new ways of arranging flowers. Ethos are clearly very adept at organising arrangements for events too and furthermore it's great to see a business thrive after ten years!

Things like my World Atlas map. Actually, it was in the list of things to have in my new home. I just found today and it cost me £2.99. Great deal indeed. Books, books everywhere in a very special price. And people still ask me why British people read SO MUCH. Because they have places like The Works, where you can find all kind of literature. Simple as that! Love it. Another passion I have is stationary stuff. As journalist I can resist a notebook, pens, pencils, pins...whatever else make me feel in a office lol. And if you like crafting, that is the place to go. Canvas, paper craft...everything. Even souvenirs for those who are passing by Birmingham. Mugs, tea sets and etc. It`s a bit busy there but the service is so quick and the girls serving are really friendly. you won't bother stay some minutes in a queue. I am definitely popping there more frequently from now to go. I need more books, anyway. Don't I?

I went in for a Father's Day present and came out with more for myself! Currently, they have a deal for 2 audio books for £10 and 3 books for £10. The books may not be latest out but there is still a large selection which includes the classics a large crime section. The section dedicated to Birmingham is nice as not many other places have done this. There's no puzzles that I could see but there was a large collection of other toys and games on offer. Additionally, there's a large kid's section towards the back. The prices are definitely reasonable and it's totally worth a visit for those who read a lot and enjoy new games and toys.

This is a lovely new shop located within Great Western Arcade. It's probably the best thing that has happened to the little store, as it now has a permanent base in a very cool location. Everything on sale is handmade in Birmingham, which means it's full of lovely original pieces dripping with character. All of the items are priced sensibly, meaning you can grab a cute notebook for around £2, whilst the handmade children's clothes price around £22 - £25 (very reasonable when you see the quality). This is their first opening week, but they are already doing a great trade - so ensure you pop in regularly to see the swiftly changing stock (as one artist sells out and another one moves in).
