But Rhonda, the manager, has decided that children running through the store flailing cat toys is Acceptable behavior and that a well controlled, obedient dog who barks at such visual stimulation is not welcome in such a farm store. Prioritizing unruly children while asking a dog barking and wagging his tail was enough but for Rhonda to continue to label my long time customer pup as aggressive to the shock of her staff was enough to lose me as a customer forever. If they wants kids to scream and dogs to be silent, maybe don't allow pets in the store. Rhonda is a dark spot on this business and will surely cause other customers to see what homesteaders truly stands for. I have supported them through the pandemic and supply shortages and huge price inflation to support local. But no more. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere where they care about you, your farm, your dollar, and most of all, your loyalty.

Not only do they cater to all you animal needs, food, containers, bowls, cages, heat lamps etc etc etc and I mean there's a huge selection of every animal feed imaginable. Chickens are our main reason we go here, not only for chicks but for everything they'll need EVER!! They also have a nice tool department with many name brand tools. There is a wonderful clothing and footwear department that sells many name brands that really appeal to the masses. Hunting apparel, jeans, coats, shirts and accessories. There is usually a really good selection on their clearance rack that I've found amazing deals for bothering me and my husband. But our favorite department is the gun department. They are helpful, knowledgeable and eager to show you anything that you might want to touch. We've been known to go in for chicken food and leave with a gun or two!! Ammo is always stocked and they carry many accessories too. Along with a huge selection of safes. Watch for their sales because they have some pretty awesome deals. But most of all after a big shopping haul right at the check out is a vast array of candy and snacks!! Also hard to resist!! One thing about Murdoch's is their customer service is awesome, always someone takes out our coop shavings and food and insists on loading it all up for us. Regardless of heat, rain or snow.

One of the owners waited on us and he was super friendly and helpful. They were on the pricier side but sometimes shopping local is good. But my second visit wasn't as good. I guess the other owner isn't as friendly or acted like we were a bother. I was with one of my friends who is in her 80's and we wanted baby chicks. But didn't want them till the next week and we wanted to make sure they had what we wanted. He acted so rude. But when I went to pick them up Mike was there again and he's so nice friendly and helpful I would go back because of him. If it was the other guy I'd steer clear. I always like giving my business to the local guys but I want to feel like I'm appreciated as a customer.

A number of tanks have non-functioning lighting so it's impossible to see the fish. Not uncommon to see betta cups stacked one on top of the other...which covers the hole in the top of the cup that allows for air circulation. The poor condition of the fish department makes the whole place look bad. Sad.
