It sounds crazy, but this place changed my life. Seriously. I was going back and forth trying to make a huge decision and I felt completely lost. I decided I needed a way to leave it up to the universe, so, I ditched my pros and cons list and booked an appointment for a psychic reading. When it was time for my appointment I was ushered into a back room to meet my tarot specialist and she was amazing. I can't imagine a better introduction to tarot. When we started the reading I wasn't sure how much information I wanted to provide about my situation (skeptic behavior). As the reading progressed I realized it was spot on about my energy and weirdly specific about timelines. Eventually, I remembered I was on a mission so I got serious, embraced the process, and decided to believe in whatever the reading was going to tell me. My tarot person spent extra time pulling cards specific to my situation and explaining them. She showed me two paths - and I chose. Since then I followed my path and the reading did not lie. I always appreciate stores like this and like to support them when I travel. I stopped in to check it out the the last time I was visiting Minneapolis. It's a small shop with an assortment of stones (mostly tumbled), figurines, incense, books, jewelry, sprays, oils, and tarot decks. They also seemed to have a reader on-site available for walk-ins. I found a variety of things I liked, including their Palo Santo/Cedar/Sage smudge spray which surprised me by how excellent of a blend it is. It's something I would specifically stop to pick up in the store when I visit Minneapolis, or order to have it mailed to me. The customer service was pleasant but it seems their employees aren't all on the same page. When I checked out, I was told about their discount program. It was explained to me that if I spent $250 (if I remember correctly) that I would get a gift certificate for $25 back. I was told I was within like $25 of that amount. I decided that I would try to come back before I left and see if I could pick something else out. I went back a couple days later when I realized I needed a gift for a friend and thought that the smudge spray would be a great option. I picked up a few more things as well. I thought I would be well over the amount. When I checked out the different sales person totaled it up and announced that was like $10 away from my reward. How is that possible, I asked? I'm buying like $50 worth of stuff? She explained that the maybe $40 of incense I purchased a couple of days before was not included in the frequent buyer program. When I told her that the other sales person did not say that and had included it in my total, she just apologized and shrugged. So, I had to buy more to get the gift certificate. I had spent over $250 in the store in like 48 hours and suddenly the incense was not included. That didn't sit well with me. If this were my business, I'd have honored it on behalf of the employee who made the mistake. I'd go back to the store, but probably only for the spray. read more

As far as I'm concerned, this is the best place in the Twin Cities to get herbs and a sage stick. Although I don't get here as often as I'd like, the trip to Minneapolis Uptown neighborhood are some of my favs, despite the area dramatically changing over the years. However, once a year I do a ritual cleaning of my house and make my way here to purchase safe and other delicious smelling herbs to cleanse and purify my creative art studio. I find the staff to be knowledgeable and informative. They answer questions with pretentious attitudes and make me feel safe to explore and ask questions. This is a great quality to have when your business is centered around ethereal and magikal practices. Nevertheless, I always learn something new and come out smelling refreshed from what ever incense they were burning. I love the diversity and the energy this store gives. Let me say first that the reason I'm posting this yelp review is because the staff at the Eye deleted my review through their online tarot reading service, GenBook. So when you go to their website and click on "book now" and see that there are 179 "verified" reviews, know that they hide all the reviews that aren't 5 stars (as you will see after about 15 seconds of investigation). They limit the # of characters you can use in your GenBook review so I used abbreviations, but here is, verbatim, my original GenBook review of my tarot card reading with Zack on May 8, 2015 - the review that they chose not to display with their other verified reviews. "Zack's tone,not the unpleasant content of reading,is reason for2stars.(Thracie gave me unpleasant news1year ago-still5star read)Zack certainly enjoys hearing sound of his own voice,went on&on abt how he disagrees w/me that people have1soulmate,then insulted me:[referring to 7cups]'u're a beautiful woman but I wouldn't want to be in a relationship w/u either.'Took 35min to give me 15min reading,interrupted me,told me there's nothing I can do to bring my soulmate2me (HangedMan/5ofCups).Total waste." I want to be clear here that the shop space itself is pleasant, so no complaints there, and my previous experiences with a Reiki session from Allison and a tarot reading from Thracie were 5 stars both. No complaints. But my experience with Zack made me feel so gross and insulted that I will never go back to that shop for anything - ever. His tone is that of a pedantic college professor who believes that the words coming out of his mouth are pearls of wisdom that are unmatched in value and in fact are so valuable that not only will he take your money, he will steal your time, precious minutes that you can never have back. I wanted and asked for a 15 minute reading. He couldn't shut up for 35 minutes. Right off the bat, he corrected me. Yes, you read that right - he explained to me that I am in fact wrong in my belief that people have one soulmate and then he overshared that he thought he had met his soulmate in the past and she turned out not to be. In his inability to realize that he is simply human and misinterpreted feelings of attraction for soulmate love, he falsely concluded there is no such thing as a soulmate at all. Now, to give us both the benefit of the doubt, he could be right and so could I. But for him to tell me that I am wrong is totally unprofessional and flat-out rude. If he couldn't give me a reading based on the question I asked, then he should have said so and ended it there rather than saying, "I'll ask the cards for the future based on this person you are thinking of." He gave me conflicting information - the soulmate won't come into my life *and* it's a professional person I should already know. Either way, he said, I'll be disappointed. He also very strangely interpreted the 7 of cups (Thoth tarot) to mean that I have a ton of baggage (I read the cards myself for others - even within the context of shadow and nuance inherent to the Thoth deck, this makes little sense) and actually said to me, based on this card, that though I'm physically attractive, he wouldn't want to be in a relationship with me either. What a weak self-centered aspect of his own shadow he revealed. He has nothing to do with it. He has nothing to do with my question about my future. And his personal assessment of the quality of my appearance should have nothing to do with how he interprets the cards. Also, he couldn't stop stroking his beard! It was so embarrassing. But the fact that someone there made the decision to hide my review on GenBook is unacceptable. The truth is that the 179 reviews aren't all positive. Avoid Zack for a reading. I had an incredible reading over Skype with a reader who goes by Madame Pamita if you're looking for the real thing. I just remembered the part where Zack told me that he didn't want to be crude, but I would need to satisfy myself other ways - "'you know what I mean," he said. Ha! What an idiot. read more

I've been going to this store for years and absolutely love it. Since the first time I wandered in when they were just north of Lake on Lyndale, to my visit today and all the visits in between.. This is a metaphysical book store. They sell lots of books, tarot cards, calenders and meditation and spiritual guides. Looking for something particular? The staff has always been eager to help. Maybe someone you know is interested in the paranormal? They have a smaller selection of books about ghost hunters, haunted homes, etc.. The tarot selection is fantastic, and I love looking over them all when I visit. They have many guide books on how to interpret tarot cards, but maybe that isn't your kind of thing! Never worry, you can schedule an appointment to have your tarot cards read by going on their website, or setting it up in person. I come here to check out their fantastic incense collection.. They carry many of the other Nag Champa varieties that other places don't sell, and lots of loose incense blends that you can't find anywhere else! I really enjoyed this metaphysical store in the Lyn Lake neighborhood. The owner and employee were friendly and helpful without crowding my space. I found several beautiful crystals and some awesome van van oil. The van van oil was only $9.99! I purchased the same oil at a different shop for $45. They had a great selection of books and divination cards. Lots of candles, candle holders, incense and sage. Each crystal has a nice little educational print out that you can take along with you. There was someone there doing tarot readings in the back. They pretty much have everything. The vibe in the store was relaxing. I would definitely go back. read more

Zack's personality really clicked with me--a little bit snarky and a blend of skeptical and open to what's in the cards. I had a particular interest in the Thoth Tarot deck and he answered whatever questions I had about the cards themselves. They're gorgeous, if you haven't seen them! For the first half of our reading, I didn't disclose information about myself and the reading was dead on. Eye of Horus is not just a store - to me it is something of a community center. Why? Because of the great classes and meet-ups they sponsor, at very reasonable cost. I've learned a lot there and met some great folks. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful. They know their stock and they know how to help you. They can help you find and order just about anything. The current location is smaller than previously, but it is cozier and nicely decorated. I've had tarot and psychic readings from several readers there over the years. They are always professional, sensitive, and helpful. While I wish they had a larger selection, I really loved this place. I bought an altar tile, a Miss Cleo tarot deck, and a magazine. The Miss Cleo deck came highly recommended and with good reason -- I bought it for its novelty value but it's honestly one of the best decks I've ever owned. *And* it was only $8.95, which is a great price for a deck (as frequent Tarot & oracle card buyers know it can get expensive). So I was looking around. The woman behind the counter was friendly, although not very open. The main proprietor came in, stood at the counter, and just blasted me with hostility and hate. Zach was AMAZING!!! I had never done tarot card reading so I was a little skeptical. I went with my friend and we sat in on each others readings. We went once and left and liked it SO much we went back a hour later to see him again. He let me ask as many questions as I wanted and let me decide where the reading would go. I told him nothing before the reading besides my name. Everything he said was spot on and specific. He really knew what he was doing. Zach was super cool and easy to work with, he's a great guy. Went here for my first ever tarot card reading and it was incredible!The employee at the desk was wonderful and very friendly and personable. They helped me pick a reading that would work for what I was looking for, basic 15 minute reading and could add time later on if I felt the urge to. My reader was Zack; he was very comfortable and I immediately felt at ease with him. He was absolutely brilliant, the way he read...he knew so much!! He explained the symbolism and meanings very clearly and i felt very connected to what he was saying! It was scary accurate, the very first thing he said was that I am about to move far away, geographically pick up and move...and I am in a few months! Highly recommend this place and Zack! read more

I went for a reading with Thracie. It cost me 20 dollars and I had a question about a specific job issue and how it would turn out. She advised that it would all be fine and that I would remain at my employ. I said at the time, due to my skepticism, that I would want a refund if it didn't work out the way she claimed. I went back with my letter of separation a week later and asked for my money back. She was dead wrong and is definitely no psychic. She responded by saying that she never wanted to see me again and that she would call the police if I didn't leave. With my 20 dollars in hand, I beg you not to waste your time and money at this establishment. read more

I have been looking for a shop that can meet all of my needs (readings, candles, etc...). I found it at the Eye of Horus. The staff was great - truly helpful. I had a reading from Brian - both tarot and palm - and it was revealing. He uses a deck that I had not seen and took the time to ensure that I knew what the cards were and that I was connected to the deck. My palm reading was also very instructive. Brian communicated information in a manner that I appreciated. I asked him if he could make me a candle and he suggested Zack. Luckily, Zack was coming into the store shortly and I was able to get my candle done the same day. Zack spent some time on what I was looking for and then magicked up a candle for me. It burned great and I am very satisfied with his work. I recommend the Eye of Horus for both the casual and the spiritual. There is something for everyone, on all levels here!
