This used to be my favorite stop, practically every weekend. I feel their prices have gone too high for used clothes/items. My biggest peeve is I have tried to drop items off multiple times and I have sat there for hours, for them to stop taking items. They think their time is more valuable. I found that donating clothes/items at the Moultonborough Food Panty was more rewarding. Sorry ETC. read more

Let me say that this thrift store is extremely overpriced. There are used j crew, Talbots clothes that were priced 30 dollars. I'm not sure how they price their items. I picked up a couple items and as soon as I saw their tags - mostly 20+ I put them back. Jewelry was also about 10 dollars each. Basic wooden kitchen stools that were painted white and blue were priced at 30 each. read more

This place is amazing and I can always end up with something every time I go! You can spend hours here and still not see everything. There is so much stuff in here and with such variety too that I have gotten something for almost every occasion. I have bought instruments, clothes (both formal and casual), mugs, trinkets, rings, pieces to costumes, and more! I end up here probably once a month because I love it so much and my friends do too. I have gone to this place many times over the years and find that not only are they extremely over priced, the staff is consistently rude whenever I go in, whether it's to shop or to consign. After going in today and being treated (again) in a very rude manner by the staff, I will never set foot in the place again. read more

This thrift shop has a variety of items. I it's a very large building and it is certainly filled with a lot of things. A LOT. This is probably due to the fact that this second hand store is ridiculously overpriced. I've seen items there I've gotten on clearance for cheaper, and it was new. The owners of the store really need to get with the program. I'm surprised they are still in business. Lots of nice things but not worth the price tag. You might as well just get something buy it new. It's a shame because they'd probably get more revenue if they did a nice sale. They could put some signs outside and post it on face book! read more

I like this place, it has tons of stuff including shoes in good condition, furniture, handbags, jewelry, clothes of all kinds, small appliances....a great place to bring good things that you just can't use anymore and you never know what you might find! The downsides are that the place is stuffed full so it is a bit hard to navigate and see everything. I wonder if they ever clear things out. Also the staff is limited and the wait to check out or to consign stuff (especially the latter) can be annoying. But definitely worth a look now and then! read more

I live in Gilford, NH and for some reason don't head to the Etcetera Shoppe nearly often enough. I guess I am traffic-averse. It is a great consignment shop, with lots of variety and very well organized (books are arranged by category and author; there is a section for Asian pieces, Native American pieces, etc. Hey, maybe that's where they got the name!) I especially love going there for art (the selection runs from mass-produced, reproductions and "wall decor" art to original watercolors, oils and acrylics) and pottery. Prices are very comparable for other consignment shops in the Meredith area (I do not consider them a "thrift" shop) and the mark-down method is easily understood. I always ask when arriving: what month are you marking down today? Unlike in many thrift shops I frequent, the Etcetera Shoppe seems to only sell items that are clean and in good order, without an abundance of chips and cracks, missing glass from frames, etc. You get what you pay for, people! I'm surprised by the couple of negative reviews regarding the employees/owner. I have had nothing but good to great experiences with the staff, who I have always found friendly and helpful. On a couple of occasions, I have hesitated to purchase an item, then called from home asking them to hold it aside from me. They are always willing to step away from the desk and hunt something down; I find that the opposite of bad customer service. Definitely, give them a try! You are bound to find something. And there are plenty of other consignment/antique/gallery type shops in the area to justify making the trip to the area. read more

This consignment shop is 2 floors full of over priced second hand merchandise. There is so much stuff in this place you cant move clothes on racks, found nurmerous clothes with stains on them. I looked at a comforter that was over priced and stained {gross}. Looks like a horders paradise, not impressed. read more

I love going to different shops and this one is packed full. I ended up with a few things as many were just about at retail where I could have bought them new. For instance a woman asked about a preowned pair of men's non branded sweatpants and was told they were $10! I can buy a whole outfit at Walmart for that! Anyway. The owner is very pleasant. Her helper was nice but needs to make eye contact and engage in some kind of small chat. This is a tourist area and it should seem welcoming and friendly. We visit Meredith almost on a monthly basis so we stay loyal to the "little guy" businesses when we go providing we are happy with the business. So getting back to my purchases...I ended up spending about $70 after finding a few little treasures. One being a statuette of a particular theme I like to collect. The statuette was in very good shape, had original maker's label on bottom and was very reasonable in price. The shop uses price tags and scotch tapes them to most items like this. Thankfully the price tag nor the tape was put over the original maker's label. At checkout I failed to realize that the clerk not only removed the price tag but scraped off the original label as well!! I unfortunately didn't realize this until I got home and unpackaged it. I even double checked the wrapper to make sure it didn't just fall off. But nope and upon further inspection you could see where she used her nail to scratch at it. Needless to say I was (and still am) VERY unhappy. I bought something based on the condition I picked it up in and it was altered without my knowledge upon purchase. If you are a collector or even a re-saler, if you do purchase here and find original labels or tags (that in my opinion and many others make the collectible desirable) I highly suggest you watch your item like a hawk at checkout and maybe even before you hand them over give your instructions on your expectations. Fun store to browse in. Make sure you check the backs of the price tags..., there is a date on it from when the item came in...if it is from 3 months ago, you get 30% off. Sometimes the employees forget to check or tell you about that. Also, they don't accept any returns so make sure you really want the item or that it fits before you purchase! read more

I have never written a poor review of anyone or any business before. I always use this opportunity to help boost our local business' in NH as it can be very difficult to maintain a business here, especially once the summer has passed. However, I cannot believe how rude a woman was to me at the Etcetera Shop. I will spare you the details of the whole conversation but I can say I have NEVER been talked to by an employee, or this case maybe owner, in my life. She was unbelievably condescending and so UNBELIEVABLY rude! I have shopped at the Etcetera shopped for years, this woman claims to have worked there for 39 years and therefore I am hypothesizing she is the owner, because of this I will never set foot and the store again because this is not the type of person I want to support. read more

I have been a regular at the Etcetera Shoppe for more than 10 years. The prices are good and it is family owned. The per cent given back to those who bring in goods is far better than other consignment stores. We recently moved to Concord and I still make regular trips to this business. Never miss a visit to this place while on vacation in the Lakes region of NH. Well organized thrift / consignment store. Two stories with multiple rooms. Can easily spend hours in here. Always seem to find something useful for a good price. read more

This is a large place, 2 floors with several rooms. Tons of stuff! Upstairs has vintage and bridal sections that are very good. I'm giving it only 2 stars because there is an overpowering chemical fragrance throughout the store that gave me a splitting headache within 5 minutes. My companion had an asthma attack and couldn't breathe. Needless to say, we are not going back. read more
