It was a little chewier than I was hoping for. I've had very tender pulpo and even massaged octopus at other restaurants, so I had high expectations. Melide is marketed as the place to have pulpo a feira, and I was looking forward to it prior to our hike. A Garnacha is a good lunch stop on the Camino. The menu is varied, so if you are not into pulpo, you can have other items.

It was very spacious, brightly lighted, and offered a lot of variety in their ice cream flavors. It's about 1/2 mile from where we had dinner since it's located on the other side of town. We have walked close to 50 miles the past three days, so who is to complain when there's ice cream at the end of the trek. We were the only customers when we arrived and the server was very patient with our party of seven. We each had two flavors in a cone; I had pistachio and coffee. Just like the other locations, the ice cream was rich, creamy, and delicious! We stayed a bit to enjoy our dessert then it was time to head back and rest our weary legs. O Pedrouzo will be a more manageable 12-mile trot and we better get ready...

We've been to Xeou! the night before at their Portomarín location and we were very happy to know there's also one here at Palas de Rei. It was time for some fruit varieties this time so I had the fresa (strawberry) and limón (lemon) flavors. Being a citrus person, I totally enjoyed the latter for its excellent tart-to-sweetness ratio. Rich, creamy, and very refreshing! This branch was smaller than the one at Portomarín but offered more flavors to choose from. There were a couple of tables inside and outside. We all left with a sweet treat in our hands, made even sweeter by our friend who generously paid for everything. Tomorrow will be a gruelling 18-mile march to Arzúa, and there's another Xeou! shop waiting for us on the other side...
