There are wild…read moreponies, free range cows and plenty of other wildlife you can spot at various times of the year. There are frequent ice cream vans dotted about near the scouts jamboree stone and lots of pay2ride bike docks around the edge of the park including e-bikes (run by beryl) in my experience the normal bikes are well maintained and not very expensive if you use them properly and dock them after each use - you get charged an extra fee if you leave it non-docked and another fee if you leave it outside the beryl zone but this is clearly demarcated in the beryl app. It's a beautiful place to go especially with family. The only detraction is that some of the paths and tracks are a bit muddy and unstable so if you're really having a hike like I do it's best to go in strong sturdy boots with good grip. There is an information centre located near the Sutton Coldfield town centre entrance of the park and a gym and swimming pool called wyndley right near the park. Fishing is allowed within certain seasons but you will need a licence and I'm not sure if there are any other requirements as I've not done it yet in this park. You will enjoy coming here, even in winter. Just bring appropriate clothing and shoes!

It's bigger than most urban parks, and spans both further than you would expect, and less, as it goes on so much further than most city/town parks (you do genuinely get to points where you can here no traffic nor see no houses quite quickly), it almost makes it feel more like an estate park- which of course it is smaller than, but I'd probably say not by much for many. There are quite a few little pockets of the park, so you can take in as little or as much of it as you like. There is plenty of wildlife, pools, paths and impressive large trees in ancient woodlands. It tends to get quite busy, but it's large enough for you to never feel cramped, and people tend to cheerfully be saying good morning.

I used to trot around here as part of my training when I competed in the London Marathon - highly recommend, gets you in a great head space as you take in all the different views of the water. Walking, cycling & dog walking are other activities you can do,to name just a few, there is also *depending on the seasons a Rutland Water Aqua Park - but make sure you pre book as this is very popular. Normanton Park Church is a tourist hot spot as well as a Zoo! & a man made beach. There are plenty of cafes & children's play areas, with rock climbing (Rock Block). Hambleton peninsula is worth a visit with local pubs dotted around Rutland Water. We live near here & I think most Rutlanders will admit that they don't use the area as much as they should. Although we will be taking a wander to take a look at the new Sea Dragon which has just been unearthed

Great place for canoing and other water Sports. Many people hire cycles out or bring there own to go around the water, it quite a ride but makes a nice day out. Also great for walks, feeding the ducks, there is also a marina area and in the summer there are boat trips. Food is expensive so better to bring a picnic or packed lunch

I love swimming outdoors. On the last three occasions I've been in a sea (The Irish), a British…read moreriver, (The Lug), and a Bavarian River (The Isar). Outdoor swimming is fun, and it feels right. As I live in Birmingham though, it means that I have to travel a distance to get near swimmable water that's outdoors. After countless searches on Google for the closest wild-swim spot I was surprised to find a lido just down the road in Droitwich. (It makes sense; Droitwich is after all a spa town!) The lido has only just recently been restored and re-opened. At 44 yards by 22 yards, the pool is huge. On the day that we went, the weather was mixed, but that was fine as the pool is heated to 21 degrees. Although it feels a little cool when you first get it, your body soon adjusts. Once in, its an absolute joy to swim big long lengths in a sheltered area with daylight shining on the surface of the pool and the tiles, with bright blue beneath you and all around. For young ones there's a 'beach area' at one end of the pool with fountains, water gun turrets and a wet-play area. After an hour, we drank some reasonable and frothy instant coffee and munched on toasted teacakes from the on-site cafe. Then we were back in the water. If you enjoy outdoor swimming then its worth traveling to this fantastic facility. If you live in Droitwich, then I envy you! A word on the lifeguards-These ones are at the top of their game. As the lido wasn't very busy, (there were passing showers, sun, showers, repeat!), we were offered free deck chair hire, and the lifeguard even bought them out to us. The duty lifeguard watching from his tower did what a lifeguard should do, (look out for swimmers in difficulty), and he didn't blow his whistle once over the two hours we were there, as is often the draconian way of the lifeguard. He SMILED, even. The lido is open 2nd June-4th September. (Check website for opening times as they change depending on high-season or low-season.)

The full size heated pool has an integrated fountain at one end and there's another that the kids can run through. It also has a cafe so is a great family day out on a sunny summer's day. The only downside is that it's really popular so can get very crowded.
