They also give ID vouchers for people who are in need of an ID and don't have the funds for it, they also help pay off in court finds you may have, they connect you with a caseworker to help you with different aspects of your life whether that's in need of a job, finding a doctor, sitting up appointments whatever it is that you need help with they set you up with somebody who can help or direct you on how to do something . As far as I know there are free CDL classes, free culinary classes, and free carpentry classes. There is access to transportation and they will help you set up medical rides or bus passes daily weekly or a monthly. It really is impossible to go hungry and Providence because of this place offering their hot breakfast with juice milk and even coffee. They also offer lunch between the hours of 11 and 12:00 every day. There's help for different kinds of people, do you need help mentally? They have groups for that including substance abuse, you need help getting on methadone or Suboxone or even just a simple medications such as tylenol? It will help you set up appointments with your doctors. If you don't know how to fill out any applications they help you with that as well! They have multiple people that speak different languages so there is help for everybody here. Sometimes there are research groups that compensate you. They also have a program called hands up if you come every Tuesday at 8:30 in the morning you can sign up to work twice a week for 3 weeks and make $50 each time. They also can help you get housing or some type of shelter they will connect you directly with the resources or phone numbers or people that you need to speak with if you really want help it will help you to their fullest.

We completed an application online and left a payment. One of our close friends was then contacted as a reference. Next thing I knew we had a home visit scheduled which turned into Spike's first night at our home and a member of our family. It was an easy process and we have a kitten that is very easy going and great with our kids (but not so great with our shower curtain but that's just catnanigans!) We fully disclosed we owned two cats, a 2 year old and a 16 year old elderly cat. They gave us the dog only three days after two major surgeries, but the foster gave us very minimal details about the medications and did not tell us he had been on a previous medication. The dog ended up having a paradoxical reaction to his medications, and I had to call the vet who did the neuter and cherry eye to figure out what to do. We had to keep him in a crate a lot for his own safety, because a cherry eye surgery needs the dog to be almost entirely activity free for two weeks. When the dog was able to be calm, I allowed him on the couch with me. He attacked our elderly cat twice, and every time he laid eyes on her, it was obvious he wanted to chase her down. One of these attacks resulted in my cat being bitten. The foster then tried to say he probably just put his mouth on her, but she cried out in very obvious pain. He BIT her, full teeth on her flesh. The foster also tried to blame my cat for the dogs behavior, stating it was her fault for not fighting back. She has been around numerous dogs, and none have ever treated her this way. Its inexcusable to say it was her fault. The foster was maybe the worst part of the whole experience. She was rude and condescending and even implied it was my fault my previous dog passed away earlier this year from a silent tumor that burst on his spleen. She also picked apart every single medical decision I made for my animals in a way that felt like I was being severely judged and looked down upon. We did literally everything in our power to save that dog. My husband and I feel that we were lied to, especially by the foster. This dog was not safe with cats, was highly reactive, and should not have been given the okay to come into our home. We were told he was polite with cats. The temperament and behavioral issues were withheld in a way that felt deliberate. It took over a week with multiple phone calls and emails to finally receive our money back.

I was thrilled to see this Laundromax was being built (It was formerly a Salvation Army that went…read morevacant for nearly a decade) and that this property was being upgraded for an essential service for the community. The parking lot is midsized and recently resurfaced, the property is also handicap accessible. The doors are also automatic which is a huge help when entering/exiting the facility. They have a large variety of washing machines that are all clearly labeled for weight limits, each machine provides you touch screen directions and once acclimated are very easy to operate. All machines also require a Laundromax card (first purchase of a card costs 1$ per) that can purchased from a wall kioski. Majority of the dryers on site can accommodate 45 lbs. and they also have a few max load dryers for 80lbs. Each folding table also includes a cart and a chair. Though I didn't interact with the employees they were attentive to the dry cleaning customers as well as a few older customers that had technical difficulties. Overall this is a great affordable investment to the community and I'm thrilled to see it's addressing a lot of the pitfalls of laundromats.

On a whim, my mom and I decided to check out the Darlington Braves Bingo in Pawtucket, RI. The…read moreDarlington Braves are a youth football and cheerleading organization who run a weekly bingo to support their program. In an evening, they generally conduct 31 games of bingo (24- $100 games, 5- $500 games, and 2 - $1000 games). These payouts aren't too shabby! The doors open at 4:00pm with games starting at 6:15pm. We got there around 5:15pm, an hour early mind you... and had a great deal of difficulty finding parking, never mind a table to sit at inside! Their lot was entirely full so we searched for and found a spot on the street. Once inside, there are two floors of tables and chairs set up. The top floor is where you can buy your bingo cards (and daubers if you need them). $27 for a full package of regular and special game cards... or you can buy them individually, whichever works out to be cheaper for you. You can set up on either floor but I found myself in the basement, a.k.a. "the annex". Looking for a table was like standing in the middle of the cafeteria in grade school, with no friends in sight and no where to go. Everyone (who must have been there since 4pm when it opened) had their cards spread waaaayyyyy out with daubers, bags, and purses saving sections of tables and chairs for people who had not yet (and at times never) arrived. We eventually found people who were willing to share their table, leaving us with the task of scrounging up some chairs to sit in. It is simply a hassle to be a newbie to this bingo. I'm sure once you go often enough, you make acquaintances that will save you a spot. As the new person though, most everyone averted their eyes and vaguely fielded my requests for table space and/or chairs. This ambivalence not only applied to the guests but to the bingo workers as well. For example, when buying our cards, the worker huffed as she very quickly reviewed the prices of certain cards, offering little assistance in accommodating what it was we actually wanted to buy. In the end, we ended up paying more for the package "deal" than we would have had we purchased our cards individually. It's not fun feeling cheated before you even get started. All in all, once we were settled in and past the initial annoyances of our visit, the bingo here was "a-ok" as my 3 stars indicates. Be prepared for a crowd that is a bit more rambunctious than what I have encountered at other venues. This isn't necessarily a bad thing... just different. It's not everyday you hear f-bombs casually thrown around, cell phones ringing off the hook, and people speaking so loudly that you can hear them from across the room when you're at a bingo event... all while you are trying to hear the numbers being called. In any case, I may or may not return... there are a number of other venues which I frequent as well. At least this one goes to a good cause!
