I just stumbled across this place, it's a local favorite, off the beaten path from the interstate but you can tell lots of history here. The waitress was a piece of work, very homey and its the kind of place that when ordering and trying to decide on what to order, adjacent table will chime in and offer their advice. I got the ribs-wet really succulent and as good as anything I've had in Memphis, very tasty and not needing much of any BBQ sauce. the sides also very good. We visited Dixie Pig while heading to Mississippi for the winter, and it was never a disappointment! The food offered there has great options to choose from - fish, barbecue, even the best pig fries! The fries and pulled pork are both in perfect portions and drizzled with house bbq sauce. It's delicious for both the fish and the fries dish! As always, the service is excellent with the staff as welcoming and friendly for a casual restaurant in NE Arkansas. I love Dixie Pig, I have been coming here since a kid when visiting family in the area. I usually indulge in the pork platter, a generous portion of chopped pork ( you can hear them in the kitchen chopping your order) doused in their homemade sauce made with vinegar and secret spices! If you're in looking for good BBQ, I would pass this place up. We were driving home from the south and wanted BBQ. I had the pulled pork sandwich, but didn't realize this didn't come with a side - so I ordered french fries and baked beans, thinking the fries came with it. I remember one of the sides being fairly expensive. He had the chopped pork plate. The pork was good, not fatty. But the sides SUCKED!! All of them. And worst of all, there was ONE sauce and it was hot and vinegar - it was not good at all. I read another review about the service sucking and I would agree with that. We were given one cup of sweet tea each and never received refills until we were leaving. This was not worth leaving the highway for. read more

Thank you Yelp for another gem! I rated it four stars because it should be at least a 3 star restaurant. I ordered the large bbq sandwich with fries. Cost- $6.75. As I was eating my sandwich with the STRONG vinegar "Original" sauce, I heard rumors of a "Rib Sauce" which is more thick. I would recommend trying the original sandwich with the RIB SAUCE. This holds par with most chopped beef sandwiches in Texas, and reminds me of the BBQ served in Baltimore. The sandwich was cooked perfectly and is served without sauce. The sauce is on the table and settles quickly. Put your thumb on the cap and give it a turn or two, it mixes the vinegar and water, and you are set. Also this place is rumored to be inspiration for the Dixie Pig referenced in Stephen King's The Dark Tower. Delta BBQ all made in house with a lot of history behind it. Good portions and prices with basic ole fashioned cooking. Loved the pecan pie. The staff was friendly and generous with us. The teens loved the crispy outside and soft inside buns. We enjoyed the pig sandwhich, BBQ plate and ham plate. All was delicious although I found the BBQ plate a little dry. But add their homemade Dixie pig sauce and problem solved. Add the BBQ or ham onto their buns and it's fabulous. Lots of quirky decor. Would go again next time we are in the area. After 18 years away from home (Southeast Missouri) and having great BBQ in Texas and other places, there was still something missing. This was like going back in time and having the first bite of the best barbecue sandwich all over again. Not to mention they make their own sauce to put on it. Fresh fries, onion rings, and okra rounded off the meal and our family was all set. Plenty of options to choose from on the menu. Service was excellent and fast. After driving past this place, I had to do a double take, having read Stephen King's Dark Tower series a few years ago. This restaurant is the original Dixie Pig, established in 1923, but not the one you get when you do a online search (that one with the downloadable menu is in Little Rock) and has nothing to do with the Dark Tower. They did not have a take out menu (online or otherwise) but they were happy to do take out orders. I ordered the large pig sandwich which is pulled pork and cabbage trimmed. They offered me samples of both their BBQ sauces - a vinegar based that was spicy and on the hot side and their rib sauce - more of a traditional tomato based sauce. I preferred the rib sauce after trying both of the sauces. They also have smoked ham sandwiches and you can order their meats by the pound. They serve ribs as a special only on the weekends. This restaurant is further into town and a little ways off the interstate. Overall, the sandwich was good, I've had better pulled pork but I also have had worse. read more

Picked Dixie Pig and,,,, we were more than pleased with this family owned restaurant. Clean, made sure we were all safe with masks and hand sanitizer. Restaurant was very clean. Wait staff was very warm and friendly. The food was fantastic, I was super impressed. I love wings, and I have tried alot of restaurants and BBQ joints. These wings had a delightful, spicy rub, wings were tender, juicy and hot, dipped in a great spicy, sweet sauce. Some of the BEST wings I have ever had. And I have tried some great wing joints. Wow, is all I can say. My wife ordered Chicken tenders. They also had a tasty, flavorful batter, tenders were fresh, and perfectly cooked. Juicy and fresh. 3 of us had the large BBQ plate and the chopped pork was somewhat dry and ice cold. From what I can guess it was cold from them chopping it up before it was sent out just from the incessant chopping sound coming from the kitchen the whole time we were eating. At least after chopping heat it up somehow. The salad that came with the plate was decent. It was mostly green and not a lot of the white part of iceberg lettuce like some restaurants like to serve. The two things that were really good were the onion rings and the vinegar BBQ sauce, the onion rings were crispy and flavorful and the sauce was spicy and pungent which made the pork palatable. My wife had the cheeseburger which the waitress said was homemade but it was way smaller than the bun and was hard as a hockey puck from the meat being over handled from what I can guess. I don't eat pork, but if I could bottle the aroma from outside the door of the Dixie Pig and dab it behind my ears, why, I KNOW my husband would never stray. Oh, and the lemon ice box pie is worth cheating on your diet. The menu says that the coffee is good, and it certainly is. Just OK. I had high expectations after some of the reviews and ordered the BBQ plate. If you are looking for "Smokey" flavored pork this is not the place. It just seemed kind of tasteless.
