How can something that feels so right, be so wrong?! I don't care if I'm a 22 year old graduate, with absolutely no real reason to visit the Disney Store except to indulge in my childhood fantasies, and marvel at the wonder that is everything Disney. I flippin' love this place!
I simply had to fill the entire Yelp world in on the Disney Store Belfast's recent revamp, hence my review. Having been closed several months, and shafted down a few doors to the corner of Castle Street / Donegall Place, the Disney Store is back and better than ever. Sure, it's got most of the same stock, the same insanely scary children (I do love them really), and the same bleary-eyed parents...but it is truly, truly fabulous. And every child's dream. Darn it, why wasn't I born 2 decades later?!
Stepping into this new Disney emporium, my first reaction was a flabbergasted "wow!". I had just spotted a little yellow castle, with tunnels and doors and windows (and mirrors I think...despite being short, I couldn't see that low down), and lots of little girls running round in complete captivation. I so wanted to be one of them right then.
The sparkly blue path that leads right through the shop is very reminiscent of the yellow brick road, and made me want to do a hop, skip and a jump...except there wasn't any room. The place was absolutely buzzing, and the kids weren't the only ones loving it...
Situated at the back is a cinema-style area, with a fairly big screen, film options, soft seating and room for the little 'uns to run around. I spotted this big bear of a daddy (that's really the only way to describe him), enjoying his viewing of 'Cars', whilst holding his little son (who must have been a couple of months old, and hadn't a notion what was happening). You can't tell me he wasn't absolutely loving it, so totally engrossed was he.
Getting out of the shop was another thing altogether, but battling our way through the crowds, my sister and I shared a final look - yes, we needed an excuse to go back. Think my friends will all be getting Disney pressies this Christmas... read more
