Needless to say it's good we didn't because we didn't last and probably would have thrown the rings out the window. However, the owner of Abracadabra helped us out and was such a sweetheart. He was patient and sat with us even though we probably looked crazy -- we both would dress in all black and a trench coat. He told us he would make a wax replica of the rings to make sure we liked them. Another time I went there was when I was going to get my mother a cross pendant, and the woman who helped me pored over catalogs with me, again, very patiently. One of my favorite reasons to go in here, however, is their doggie. Their dog hangs out from time to time and it gives the place a really chill, welcoming vibe. I think it's awesome when businesses have a well-loved pet hanging out, it puts everyone in a good mood.

When I walked into McGivern, I was immediately greeted and treated so kindly. Staff went the extra mile to help me and explain the timing, cost and options. My resizing and appraisals were completed in about 7 days which I thought was remarkable. My next trip in, I decided to resize a bracelet and reset a ring. Mike personally helped me and was incredibly helpful. Once my jewelry updates were complete- within the stated timeframe, by the way- I picked them up and I was absolutely floored at how beautifully they turned out. I would recommend McGivern to everyone and anyone and I plan to use them, exclusively, for any future jewelry needs.

My 12 year old son and I had such a nice experience with Sergio last evening that I wanted to write…read moresomething, as much to thank him as to write a review. For starters, Sergio is quick, fairly priced, knowledgeable and incredibly polite. But he is also a throwback to the days of craftsmen/craftspersons who take their work seriously and also take great pride in their workmanship. My son inherited a watch from my recently deceased father. After carefully sizing it for my son's smaller wrist and removing a few metal watchband links, Sergio looked my son in the eye, shook his hand, and told him to treasure the watch because he knew the significance of the timepiece to us. It isn't the monetary value, but Sergio and his wife understood instinctively the real value of the watch to us, and the ritual of handing down a family keepsake. It helped my son learn a lesson and I know he will value the watch more because of the way Sergio treated it. I just love this guy. He will have my jewelry repair business for as long as he is in the community.

To their credit, the business was friendly, upfront and honest throughout the entire encounter…read more I'm writing this more as a heads up to people who, similar to me, are not at all experienced in selling gold or silver. I was able to watch the gentleman who helped me weigh what I brought in, he showed me the entire calculation of what they were offering, including the rates. This was refreshing as some other store hid their scales and were shady about the numbers they relayed to me. My one recommendation coming out of this is to get multiple offers for what you are selling. I'm not naming names of any competitors or anything like that in this review, you have to do your own due dillegence and drive around a bit when you sell. I'm sure there are many other factors including recent purchases, refiner's cuts, etc. for each store to consider when they make an offer. I will say that for silver, at the time of my visit, this store was not offering a competitive rate compared to every other store that I visited. This may change from time to time due to the factors I listed above (and others), but at the time of my visit, it simply was not close to market rate. I will still give the store a 5 star rating, particularly for their honesty. I'm putting it out there yet again for inexperienced sellers who are going through an estate similar to myself, take the time to GET MULTIPLE OFFERS from different stores. The final price I sold my items for was significantly higher than what I was offered here. Having said all of that, I would not hesitate to return to this store in the future. The most professional and nicest people I met on my journey to sell.

It was a big deal for me--an emotional, vulnerable step toward feeling like myself again. Instead of kindness or professionalism, I was met with open mockery. The stylist made fun of my hair--mocked me for how it looked growing in, laughed, and acted like I was a joke. She didn't even try to hide her attitude. There was no compassion, no care, no listening. She made me feel disgusting, like I didn't belong in that chair. She didn't offer any real service or support--just cruelty. I left feeling humiliated and honestly shattered. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. If you value empathy, dignity, or basic human decency, stay far away from this place.
