Since 2013, The Decksmith has been the premier choice for custom decking installation in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Growing up in my father’s South African hardware stores, I didn't just learn to build; I learned the "language" of timber and craftsmanship. After a decade in the corporate boardroom, I traded my desk for the sun to return to what I love: building.
The name "The Decksmith" reflects a mastery of craft—the same precision found in a blacksmith or goldsmith. With over 500 projects personally completed, I specialize in hardwood timber decks, composite decking (Trex/ModWood), pergolas, and alfresco renovations.

I don’t just build decks; I craft them. My journey began in my father’s hardware stores in South Africa, where I received an industrial lathe for my 11th birthday. After a successful career running medium-to-large corporate businesses, I realized my true "boardroom" was the great outdoors. In 2013, I traded the suit for a tool belt and founded The Decksmith.
Since then, I’ve personally built over 500 projects across Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Whether it’s a sustainable composite deck in Bronte or a bespoke hardwood timber entertaining area in Double Bay, I am on-site for every cut and every screw. I believe in the "smith" tradition—mastery earned through thousands of hours of exacting work.
