Totally satisfied. John was very particular with the deck build. It was a professional build.

Five years after installation and no other way of saying it...the deck they installed is a piece of shit. They cut corners; use substandard materials and just plain poor craftsmanship. They may give you a nice bid but you will be on them through the whole building process and will still be significantly disappointed with the final product. I wish I had a photograph to share, but after 12 weeks, no work has been performed. There has been one delay (excuse) after another. Upon talking to the owner (and his unprofessional snarky giphys) it seems his attitude sets the tone. A quick search and I can see that I am not alone and this is the experience of many with The Deck Company in Springfield and Branson and that when they are recommended it's often the owner or his friends. I hired Deck Builders in March 2020 and was told it would be 8 weeks out to start. May came and so did rain - so it was pushed, and pushed - Finally they started June 29. The Invoice stated TimberTech floor and TimberTech cable rail. We had discussed TimberTech "DrySpace" - even showed him a picture. Thought that was what we were getting - my mistake; the invoice said another company. I did not notice this until today, so that is on me - even though that is what we wanted. The crew is very pleasant, even though they don't work much 11:30 - about 3:00-4:00. They put in cement footings for the support poles; but didn't fill the hole with cement all the way - so about 3 inches of water will collect in around the wood support poles. They framed it; put the floor in, which looks great. Then - I'm wondering how do they attach the railing? They said they would be back in a week because the company for the railing had gone out of business. REALLY? (I was told back in May they had all the material). When I reached out to the guy over the crew (who has never been to the job site) and asked about the raining he said they couldn't get that railing and they have an alternative. I asked to see it. It was an alumnuim cable rail. NOT TimberTech - I called TimberTech and they said yes they still do a cable rail. So HE said oh we can get TimberTech Cable rail if that is what you want. Really? So I said yes, get that. He said they would be back to install it in a week. Well 2 weeks passed and they finally showed up at 2 pm. Was told they were going to have the railing in before he left (on Thursday). I know it is very labor intensive and wasn't surprised when he left at 4 and said he would be back by 7 am. Hahh They showed at 8:30 and then there was some rain -so they took a 2 hour lunch. Came back and were going to leave around 2:30 cause it looked like rain (then it did start to rain) I asked if they could just wait a few till it stopped and he said ok. He was back working in 10 minutes. Then come 5 pm they were gone. Not a word. They finished the railing and it is so wrong - the cables sag and the drink rail had gaps (due to not properly measuring). The underdecking is a joke - The installed it wrong - then tore it out and tried to install it correctly. I even showed them a video as to how to install it. (the panels are dented and were dirty). It does not slop so when it rains, it just gushes - so much for a "dry" space. I have contact them repeatedly and I get ignored. I do agree with the snarky comments from the owner that other reviews have said. read more

I found an article titled "Contractor Red Flags" and The Deck Company ticks just about every box. Didn't show up for initial estimate. Shows up late for subsequent appointments. Missed deadlines and many excuses - and I haven't even given you the business yet! And I won't. Bid/estimate spec'd nothing - only the price and a request for 50% up front. When I asked about timing/scheduling I was told I would have to pay the 50% before they would/could answer that. Proceed with caution. Or better yet - find someone else. Hoping the time I wasted on this process might save someone else. read more

Four star review is primarily due to how this all turned out and the two guys who actually did the job. I would have given 5 stars, but ... I have somewhat mixed emotions about this company given how much longer it took than what the proposal represented as to when my job would get started. The original time frame was "approx. 20 weeks", which should have been around September 23. The work was actually started on November 8th, and I think this date was likely prompted due to another contractor I've been working with who, unbeknownst to me, put out a good word for me because my efforts to get a definitive date had been in vain. I do understand, on the other hand, that finding quality employees in this "new world" we're living in has been problematic for many businesses. This type of work is highly specialized and you can't just have any run-of-the-mill employee doing this kind of work. I'm giving the company the benefit of the doubt that like most employers these days it is difficult (maybe close to impossible) to find good hard-working professionals who want to work as opposed to sitting on their behinds waiting for their next freebie check to come in. With that said, Bobby and Dylan were ultimately assigned to do the project at my home which involved an extension of my existing deck and installation of stairs. So happy they were chosen to handle my project because they were nothing short of amazing. Professional and quality workmanship is what these guys are all about. Not only do they produce exceptional quality in their workmanship, they are just wonderful guys to work with all around. It was truly a pleasure having them here at my home throughout this project. I now have an amazingly beautiful deck extension and absolutely gorgeous stairs leading from the upstairs balcony down to my yard. Again, so very thankful Bobby and Dylan were assigned to my job. I truly hope The Deck Company is aware of just how valuable these guys are to their team. read more

We received a bid in April 2019. We put money down at the end of April with a quote of 6-8 weeks before we could expect our job to be done. We had to call 2 times to check to see if we were on the schedule and told the yes. Then after the 10th week we call found out they didn't even have the permits pulled which according to the city could take 1-5 days to get prepared. What poor customer service. Then they said they could come out the next week. Since we had no idea if they were really going to come out, we asked for a refund. The salesman understood our issues however the owner then called us at home to find out what he could do to keep our business. He never apologized and was more concerned about his reputation than completing the project and what would be written about his company online. read more

They did an excellent job on my elevated 18x20' deck with a fully covered pergola. Took longer than expected due to the lack of buildings materials in the area (Covid-19 related), but once they got started they had the entire thing built in three days and it's extremely nice and very solid. The price was reasonable and the workers and owners were all very good to talk to and work with. Definitely recommended. read more

Install began weeks after agreed upon date. Many arguments with install crew and the owner had to get involved to get the project back on track. Failed inspection by Nixa City. I spent the time and money to install fasteners to hold the rim joists in place. Be careful, be very careful! read more

If we could use a negative number for the Deck Company of Springfield MO, we would. Very disappointed in the Deck Company to extend our existing deck. After receiving an estimate in late spring of this year, it wasn't until mid September that two men showed up in our backyard. What should have taken 3 days was extended to two weeks. The workers arrived late and left early. They also left trash, cups, cigarette butts and debris from our existing deck scattered all over our backyard (for us to clean up!) The middle of our deck has a raised board that they wanted to sand down! My husband had to explain to them how to fix it. The workers left the board on our deck for 4 days. It wasn't until we threatened to reverse the payment on our debit card that they finally sent a worker over to fix the board. Consumer beware. Look elsewhere. read more
