I find the selection of plants top quality and a fantastic choice and the pots on offer also great value for money and a very wide and good selection of shapes and sizes. The staff are also always friendly. It is one of my favourite Nurseries. read more

I have to say I have just had a truly unpleasant experience at the hands of the staff at Dawn Nurseries. I have been patronising that particular establishment and extolling its virtues for many years, so I took a Canadian friend who has recently moved here to see the lovely Dawn Nurseries. It was a lovely day so we took our dogs, suggesting we take them for a walk along the lane and then leave them in the car whilst we went in to choose our plants!! Oh no, a bulldog of a woman appeared to inform us this was a car park for customers, i explained I was a customer and would be back for the 5 plants i needed. She lay in wait for us, there is no other word for it. On our return she sprang out, accosting us, saying she had not liked my attitude [this said with both her hands on her ample hips and very aggressive tone]. I was informed that next time we would be clamped. Needless to say i explained we would now take our business elsewhere. Such a shame, the car park was virtually empty, we were customers, I have been going for 15 years and they were about to get a new customer..Not the case now and I shall never give them my custom again, nor recommend them.. All this to prove some kind of point.on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I do appreciate that the car park is for paying customers, but I was one Very very bad customer service, I would strongly suggest that Dawn Nurseries considers changing its staff, or if that was the owner, then a nice little training course in customer care might be in order. read more

Did I go to the same garden centre as the previous reviewers? I went on 6 May 2014 and was totally gobsmacked! This is a well ordered nursery. Ample signage to take you to what you want, be it hanging basket plants, bedding, trees, climbers, herbs, etc, etc, etc. All the plants were healthy. Some were not ready for sale yet and were well marked as such. Those that were ready were lush and well advanced. I just wish I had a bigger garden as there were things I would have loved to have, but not enough space. There is a good sized carpark, where the bigger things, compost, containers, etc are next to it - not far to take it to your car. The main centre is just across the lane (look out for the bargains outside the door). On the good side - prices are reasonable, not cheap but not rip off. Quality is high, choice is almost endless. On the down side? only one thing - the aisles between the plant trays are small, and sometimes blocked halfway with piping and such. DON'T take your trolley with you in the various houses. Leave it at the entrance to the house, and bring your plants to it. Checkout was nice and quick - and had a laugh with the cashier (who knew that this was my first visit). First visit maybe. last visit, definitely not. read more

I have recently had an encounter with the owner of this Garden Centre on the Shurdington Road, south a Cheltenham. It is a big, well-run operation though we had previously noticed that most of the staff seem to know little about plants. In March, we bought a plant that was described as having red flowers (even with a picture to show it) which we rer-planted in a pot and tended for - it has just come out in white flowers! When we took it back to complain, we had a curious 'Dead Parrot' scene in which two members of staff tried to prove it was red. Then the owner, who was clearly irritated that we should be there complaining at all, told us they had no red ones left in stock (fair enough) and if we wanted our money back (£6.99) we had to return the white plant. When we protested that we had hoped she would just refund as a gesture of good will, she lent over, yanked the plant from our pot, threw it on the ground and virtually threw the money at us. My advice: buy your plants here if you like, but don't expect any customer care from the owner and her staff. read more

I had a really frustrating experience here yesterday 19/02/12. I had intentions of purchasing some new basil pots to replace my dead herbs on the windowsill, however wanted to take a stroll up crickley hill first and return to the centre afterwards. We merely tried to ASK the question if we were allowed to park there, the lady cut off my question in such an abrupt manner with a formal no, that the property was private land and they were sick of such requests and that they get hundreds of people asking. When I explained I wished to come back down and buy my basil herb she laughed at me saying they didn't sell herbs, which I definitely did not know having just moved to the area. She was so terribly rude, and the rest of the staff were all stood around watching the conversation. I felt embarrassed and frustrated. I had not asked a huge favour, and in return politeness would have been much more appropriate, and saying No was absolutely no problem if she had been pleasant about the whole thing. read more
