We also discussed the fact that my ex purchased a brand new house as well as a BMW after testifying in court that he wasn't working and didn't have any money. Mr. Spinks suggested I save money by doing the lien on his house myself, and gave me very detailed information on how to do that. I TRULY appreciate his honesty after being screwed over by prior attorneys who did all they could to run up their billable hours. Now we just need to get going on the garnishment and I'll update my review after that.

My attorney, Tom Buckle, and the entire firm was extremely knowledgable, organized, and professional from start to finish. Tom has been practicing real estate law for over 40 years, so he knows the Texas real estate inside and out. He has dealt with every imaginable situation when it comes to real estate. I was very grateful for his experience, knowledge and honesty in his assessment of the case and how he conducted himself. Tom was extremely efficient with his time over the six months that I used him. He avoided getting into lengthy meetings and other things that rack up large legal bills. I was impressed with Tom's ability to handle the opposing law firm's attorney who was clearly straight out of law school and had little to no experience practicing law. I would absolutely recommend Scanlan, Buckle & Young to anyone looking for an excellent law firm to represent them.

We had a consultation, I sent every piece of paperwork they asked for, and we did a follow up call to close out questions. Michael repeatedly said my case was simple, fewer than five creditors, nothing complicated. Then it all stopped... Two months went by and the only work product I ever saw was a single paragraph drafting a settlement with my biggest creditor. It had typos and unfilled placeholders in it. I wrote back inside an hour. That was the last I heard from either Michael or Renee. They quit answering me, and they quit answering the creditors who were trying to reach them. Eventually I had no choice but to move to a different attorney and request a refund of the $6,000 I had already paid. We will see if it shows up. I would not hold my breath. My take is that Michael seems to be heading toward retirement and is not focused on new clients. Read through the other reviews and you will see the same story over and over, followed by apologies and requests to change the rating. Save your money and your time.

Every ounce of praise you hear of David Todd is deserved. In my particular case, he was patient and understanding with me as I struggled with the decision I needed to make. He knows that the most important thing he can do is to represent you to the best of his ability, and in so doing at least unburden you of some of the work for what is possibly the most emotionally challenging event in a person's life. He anticipated my needs and was available when I needed counseling, but otherwise was highly effective at representing my case, both in mediation and in court.
