I tried to get my 2 year old Terripoo in for a groom on a Friday afternoon, we were told the appointments remaining could accommodate a bath, so I took the slot. The Currycomb was recommended by a stranger on the street when we met her and her exact twin of our dog and asked where she takes her dog for grooming - great word of mouth praise, Currycomb must be good. I have to agree with the other reviews that the communication is void as we tried to get in a lunch while the bath was going on, we didn't know if we had 1 hour or 4. Our dog looked great when we picked him up, no complaints. The first oddity about the visit, they only accept cash. The second oddity is that they do not keep any cash on hand to make change when you pay. So if you just have $20 bills, and the service is just over $40, you end up tipping MORE than you usually would just so you can get on with your day. read more

Good experience - would recommend! FYI: they accept cash/check ONLY - no card! We took our anxious 2 year old dog here for the first time for a full grooming service, which included a wash, nail trim, and hair cut, and also some other extra services we didn't even know were things (anal gland expression, ear flush, etc.), and had a positive experience overall! Pros: - great looking, cute haircut, he smelled great - locally owned business, always good to support - they seemed great with him, he seemed comfortable and relatively happy when we went to pick him up (despite his usual anxiety with strangers) - great COVID precautions: call to schedule, call when you're outside to drop your dog off, no entry into the business, and call to pick up / pay outside. Everyone was masked too. Awesome!! - price reasonable: for full service for our 18 lb cocker spaniel mix, it was $50 before tip. - staff/owner friendly and kind Cons: - the amount of time it took. We called to schedule an appointment and were told they don't schedule by time slots, just by the day. So we scheduled him for Saturday (likely a busy day, retrospectively) and were told to bring him in any time after 9:30 am. We brought him in Saturday at 10 am and he wasn't done until about 4:15 pm. This is the only reason I took off one star, just because we didn't know / expect to leave him there for so long. Not a dealbreaker of course, but would've been helpful to know in advanced in order to plan the day around it! We will definitely be back again, and now that I know to expect longer waits on busier days, I anticipate it being 5 stars in the future! read more

I am continuously impressed with the quality of Curry Comb's services. They always do such a fabulous job with my fur babies. To top it off, Penny Lane is a spit fire and has been kicked out of other groomer's shops for biting. But Curry Comb keeps taking her, without complaint, lol. I soooo appreciate them!!! read more

I will not be going back. Their communication is horrible! I dropped my dog off and after 5 hours I called and they said they were starting him, with an initial quoted price of 50 dollars. So after another hour I show up and they still have not completed his grooming. I wait an additional 20 mins. Then when it is time, I go to pay and they said "Oh it will be 70 dollars and we don't accept credit cards, only cash" First off, if the price is more than quoted it is professional curtesy to inform the person before you start, AND let them know that you only take cash. My dog needed a haircut really badly after the Covid lockdown and most of other locations are booked out in a month. So glad I was able find this grooming place very close to my house! it's the first come first serve basis but I still put my name down for the date. We took our Australian Shepherd who's 8 months old here yesterday 10/10/18 her white chest wasn't so white anymore and she had some lattes going behind her ears and on her butt fluff. When dropping her off I was very nervous because 1. She hates being brushed 2. She's never been to the groomers and 3. She's never been left alone with anyone she doesn't know as she's weary of strangers. But the ladies here at Currycomb assured me she would be okay. We took our almost 17 year old ragdoll cat ZuZu in to see Kathy and her daughter last Friday (3/9) for bathing, grooming and nail trimming. We brought in a cat that had numerous mats. She was a becoming a messy old girl. Well, what we got back was a princess! She's as soft as a baby's bottom, no more mats and she's glowing! I can't say enough good things about The Curry Comb! This is a great groomer! I tried for hours to get the eye gunk out of my little mixed breed dog's eyes, and I just couldn't do it. I usually trim him myself, but he was well-overdo for a haircut. After giving up myself, I went to the Currycomb, and they did an amazing job! His eyes are gunk-free, and they did a great job trimming his coat for summer. I always keep it short when it gets hot, but they cut it very evenly and I've never seen his fur so soft! They prices are the same or better as big commercial groomers, and they do a much better job. This is a wonderful place to get dogs groomed. It is a family owned small business in Del Mar that is very accommodating. I pick the dogs up and she lets me know when anything is out of the ordinary with the dogs (ear infection starting up, removal of hidden weeds in the coat/feet). This time our little guy came back looking great overall. Thing was that I specifically asked them to trim his ears instead of plucking, and they ended up skipping that and surprisingly skipped trimming the fur between his toes and pads. That's the best part of having a pro groomer so I don't have to try doing that myself haha. Oh well. They were pretty busy. Guess I should've checked before we took him home?
