I mentioned to my sister that I thought it was affiliated with Federal in Manchester. She asked one of the staff who told her they're totally independent of each other but that the owner of Tamper helped the guys from Federal set up. This really shows in the decor, atmosphere and menu of both places. We each ordered a flat white. When they arrived they were lovely to look at, and delicious too. My sister ordered the Big Ozzie breakfast, and I ordered the smashed avocado on sourdough with poached eggs and halloumi. My dish was really beautifully presented. It came with a sweet chilli cucumber salsa, which is not necessarily something I would have chosen to go with the dish, but worked really well. My sister really enjoyed her breakfast as well. I tried a bit of the sausage patty and the hash brown and they were both delicious, really nicely seasoned. I'd argue the baristas here are even more skilled than those at the Monmouth at the Borough Market in London. I've been several times and can't seem to get enough. It'll take a few minutes for your drink, but it's absolutely worth the wait. As if that weren't enough, they actually make some pretty delicious sandwiches as well. I had a free-range chicken with lemon mayo that was something special, and my better half had an equally tasty egg and watercress. It seems that Box Brownie can do no wrong!

We spent hours here, working our way through all of the sarnies, cakes and biscuity treats on the stand, accompanied by tea, silver service style, and a rather excellent camp crocodile joke that I am ashamed to say I can't remember. It was also very inviting as it was a nice sunny day, and they had tables outside. It's a shame as they are for smokers. What about non-smokers who want to enjoy the sun and warm weather outside? Unfortunately, we were also subjected to the smoking. I do not drink coffee for medical reasons, and so settled for the hot chocolate. Here, it is a shame again, as most coffee shops, the "hot" is missing, and often I have to ask for extra hot if ever I go again. It was very well presented, but it also was quite powdery, so not the best hot chocolate that I have tasted. Perhaps, it does coffee better but I shall never know. The decor is nice, clean and relaxing and uncluttered with wooden tables. Friendly service. Closes at 6pm, and they starting packing up the outside tables and chairs around 5.50pm, which suited us, as we were just leaving! They also get another star for very nice and clean, modern and pleasant toilet facilities.
