The crossing was a pleasant surprise found on a quiet drive in the country - after going stir crazy from home isolation due to covid. found near an intersection of two highways in a town out in the middle of no where, this restaurant took me back to simpler times. The menu had a wide selection of breakfast and lunch items, all reasonably priced. Service was attentive, but not over bearing, and the food came out of the kitchen in a reasonable amount of time. There several locals in getting their meals, but not over crowded. in the back of the restaurant is a small souvenir shop, and a full bar (closed due to covid restrictions) on the other side of the dining room partition. if you are out on your travels, definitely worth a shot when your bellingham starts running on empty. read more

This is a great place to grab a burger and fries after a day of fishing, hiking, etc. My standby is the Fetty burger which adds ham and American cheese to the 1/3 pound patty. Not much to improve on with this classic. read more

Wisdom is a tiny town in a beautiful area. We parked our RV nearby and ate at the restaurant 3 times in 3 days! The ribeye steaks are fabulous, perfectly seasoned and cooked. The owner and staff work their butts off to produce a fine meal. Even the salads had an extra-special touch: what tasted like homemade ranch and blue cheese dressings on nice (not iceberg) lettuces. Did not have room for dessert! Breakfasts were great too. If in Wisdom, be wise and go here! Prices are more than reasonable too! Service was great, and friendly. read more

We stop here every time I'm in Wisdom so shocked I haven't left a review before. The buttermilk pie is the best I've ever had. I took off a star because the waitress was clueless and acted like she had no idea what she was doing. I asked for cream cheese on my bacon cheeseburger and it also came with yellow processed cheese. She seemed bothered when we asked for more water. The food was great. The service was terrible. read more

Eight of us stopped in for lunch on a trip to the big hole. The restaurant is very pleasant inside and, quite nicely decorated with local pictures, both old and new, some antiques, etc. The lunch menu was pretty extensive for being in the middle of nowhere, with burgers, either beef or Buffalo, salads, several soups, fish and chips, and sandwiches. Everyone agreed the food was good, decent size positions, fairly priced and appealing. Or service was fast and very friendly. We had a great time and recommend to all. read more

If you find yourself in Wisdom, fret not. There is indeed a decent place to eat. We stopped in for lunch and had two great sandwiches. They were fresh and very tasty. My son got a piece of apple pie ala mode. Service is good, but not exceptional. They were two nice ladies who could sell you on a piece of pie. Quiet soft spoken folk who just get down to business. I doubt I'll find myself here again. But if you find yourself in the area, now you know where to go. read more

Loved being here at this charming, cozy restaurant. They even have vegetarian options and my friend's bison burger was wonderful. Sweet potato fries are terrific and they have an extensive dessert menu with all offerings baked by the owner. She is Smart and lovely. This is the only restaurant in Wisdom, MT unless you count the Antler Saloon where you can get the worlds best pizza. We had breakfast at The Crossing. I had a two egg omelet with sausage and veggies. It came with hashbrowns (cubed) and toast. Hubbs had an egg and biscuits with gravy. The food was good. Nothing amazing but nothing to complain about. The restaurant is small. The service is friendly albeit very, very slow. If you are in a hurry, you're better off packing some food. Next time we are in Wisdom we will have to stop here for lunch or dinner. read more

We came here after a morning at the Big Hole monument. Service was fast and friendly, the menu was varied, and the food was quite decent. Be sure to try the pies. I really enjoyed my lunch at The Crossing and would strongly disagree with the reviewer who found it just "serviceable." I came in with a group of about 20 on an already busy Sunday and was quite impressed by both the service and the food. Everyone in our group remarked at how well the staff handled the the sudden influx of patrons. I had the Greek chicken salad with Greek ranch and it was excellent. The chicken was seasoned well and clearly cooked fresh, not some pre-cooked rubbery mess. And the dressing was also clearly made in-house. The Crossing is pretty much the only "restaurant" in Wisdom (Antlers Saloon is just pizza & sandwiches) so it doesn't have any real competition. As such, it seems to have no aspiration to rise above the level of mediocrity. In other words, I could describe the place as "serviceable" at best. What other reviewers have claimed regarding the slow service is unfortunately true. Now this isn't a rare trait among rural MT restaurants, so one goes out expecting to take it slow. However, the hope is that the wait will be worth it. We tend to accept a lower quality of food for the sake of fast service, and therefore expect that slow service will yield higher quality food. That said, there's nothing more disappointing than waiting a long time for your food, only to be totally underwhelmed by it. Having sampled items from all three of their menus, all I can say is that it's nothing special; it simply get's the job done - that's all. So imagine waiting an hour for it, only to be told by your server that what you ordered an hour ago is unavailable. If not before they order, shouldn't the customer be informed of this at least *while* they're ordering, and not an hour later? That's pretty poor form for any restaurant, and you'd think a reconciliatory offer, or alternative order would be suggested - this was not the case. Ultimately, the food that did arrive was unappealing. The french dip sandwich was very small and much of the beef was chewy and tough. The chicken malibu sandwich wasn't bad for portion or quality, but it was uninspired; no seasonings, spices, or special sauces. This is typical of all the food I've ordered here. It's just the bare minimum, exhibiting neither care nor character. On another occasion we went for dessert and one of us ordered the brownie sundae. It was a pleasant surprise how good it was. We returned again and ordered the same thing and it was tiny - nothing like what we received before. We asked a waitress about this discrepancy later on, and she admitted that the server we had that night does it her own way (as in worse). So this restaurant allows its employees to simply alter the menu items at will, without repercussions? This would be totally unacceptable at a real restaurant. I should say that their breakfast menu is probably their best, but it's still the same story here, so that's not saying much. It's maybe a notch above Denny's, and offers nothing memorable. "Ok" french toast and pancakes with average meat sides. The scrambled eggs were overcooked both times I ordered them. That's one of the easiest style of egg to cook too. Despite this, I'd maybe go back for breakfast out of convenience, but then again it'd probably be faster, cheaper, and better to just stay home and make my own. I honestly doubt I'll return for any other meal. If you want something to eat in Wisdom, you're better off just getting pizza at the Antlers Saloon. It's not any more exciting, but it's at least consistently good and headache-free. read more

This is a great place to eat at. We had a cheese burger and fries. Home made local beef patties and home cut fries! Great Taste. A little on the pricey side. The reason for the 4 star rating though. Is the service was not great, Are waitress dropped off menu's, came back 10 minutes later to take our orders. Never came back to refill our coffee either. My family and I had just visited the Big Hole Battlefield and drove into Wisdom to get something to eat. Saw "The Crossing" and thought we would give it a try because it was getting late and we still had 85 miles to go to get to my mother's home. The prices on the menu were reasonable. Very nice waitress, and the food was really good. I highly recommend the Reuben Soup. Hope to visit "The Crossing" again the next time we are in their neighborhood. read more

The whole family stopped for lunch today at The Crossing. The food was excellent and the prices were reasonable. The desserts were incredible, to include the homemade hot fudge they pour on their brownie sundae. The service wasn't bad, but it did take a little while to be served. However, the food was worth the wait. I would recommend The Crossing to other Yelp users. read more
