The Bealy - Loved the styling of the rooms

We wanted to hike in the Arthur's Pass area and this was the place we chose to stay. The scenery…read moresurrounding the hotel is stunning. It truly feels 'in the middle of nowhere'. The Scandinavian designed rooms are cozy and stylish. We were in a villa which was spacious including hot tub, tv area, kingsided bed and bathroom. Decking allowed you outside viewing. Hospitality was outstanding. All that said, we were there during a major storm so we didn't get to hike not enjoy much of the outside except from the safety of our room. Crazy weather to be sure. It was sunny upon our arrival so I can definitely say I am very glad we made the trip here.

The group sat down to a beautiful view and ordered burgers, blue cod, venison salad, soup, flat whites, and lollie cakes. Burger was incredible and came topped with an egg. Blue cod fish and chips was excellent. Venison salad actually came out on rice noodles which surprised us. The venison was good but the rice noodles lacked flavor. Flat whites were better than expected! Syrup flavors were available to add to flat whites. We loved the tastes, presentation, and views during our lunch! Portions were very generous. Fortunately, we were planning to do more hiking after lunch. It was a beautiful experience with excellent service. I would love to come back someday!

Though I have experienced better hotels overall, it is definitely worth the price it is. I demoted one star due to the lack of vegetarian dishes at the downstairs restaurant, as they offered only two dishes: the flatbread (delicious, might I add) and the soup of the day, tomato and capsicum. However, they do provide gluten-free dishes, and what we ate for dinner was simply fantastic. The fish was fresh and excellently-cooked, the steak (medium-rare is what I order) could have been cooked a tiny bit better but was near-perfect combined with the fries, egg, gravy, and pepper sauce. The pasta was deliciously creamy and filling, definitely worth the price. The flatbread, pesto and Parmesan, as well as the chili and mozzarella, was divine, would definitely recommend buying a couple for the table. Excellent, highly-commended service at the restaurant and reception, very friendly and willing to help. As for the rooms, they are spacious, cleanly: not the most modern of rooms but the fantastic beds make up for it: may be the most comfortable mattress I've slept on. The bathroom was definitely a show-stopper, with a spacious shower, clean, modern, fresh feel and complimentary goodies along with the room. The coffee and tea selection was fantastic, and the milk was very appreciated. I would recommend this hotel to families: we booked twin rooms and were very impressed and pleased, to say the least.
