I ordered some middle earth style tobacco for my pipe on their website and it was shipped immediately and well packaged and a hand written message saying thank you for purchasing our tobacco. It doesn't get more personable then that. Great quality and service and plan to visit your B&M soon. read more

The country squire is Jackson's only place you need to know for everything pipe related. They easily have the best selection of new and estate pipes in the city. They also have a walk in humidor with a great selection of cigars. 40+ years in business tells you these guys know a thing or two about what they are doing. I've been a customer for several years, hell I even have a tobacco blend I helped create (it's called Indian Outlaw and you should buy some). Jon David, the store manager, is incredibly knowledgeable about pipes and tobacco. Whether you are a novice in the pipe world or have been smoking for years the country squire will feel like home. So go by and buy some Indian Outlaw, or something else I guess. read more

I have been dreaming of going to the Country Squire since I started pipe smoking in March of this year and I finally got the chance to come in and buy some tobacco and smoke my pipe in their shop. Dominique was an amazing associate and helped me thoroughly and made sure I was completely satisfied. I will definitely make it a point to come by more often and take that 2.5 hour drive to visit. Great store with a long history in Jackson. I shopped here for a long-time for pipe tobacco with Mrs. Reeves. The changes that have been made including expansion of the store, major expansion of the cigar line and expansion of the smoking area are fantastic. I attended an Ashton event there on 10-12 and it was packed, service was great and it's just a great atmosphere. If you are in town this is a worthwhile stop for the atmosphere, selection and service. read more

History

Established in 1970.

Founded by Jim and Gwen Reeves in August of 1970, The Country Squire has been a Mississippi fixture and tradition for 46 years. Mr. and Mrs. Reeves, along with their daughters Kit and Kim, worked to bring the Deep South a pipe and cigar experience like no other. In the 1980s The Country Squire had four locations in and around Jackson, all specializing in premium tobacco products. In 1981 after the death of Jim, Mrs. Reeves faithfully ran the business for another 31 years, eventually consolidating the brand to the original location on Lakeland Drive. Today, The Squire is owned and operated by Jon David Cole, who works to continue the tradition of hand blending high-quality tobaccos and carrying the latest and best premium tobacco products. Trained by Mrs. Reeves herself, Jon David is devoted to carrying on the legacy and tradition of this Southern institution.

I sent an email to the listed people on the website (http://www.habanasmokes.com/) inquiring about information posted on the website. I did not get a reply so it made me wonder about the place. I was in Jackson MS about 3 days before I GPS'ed the place and drove over. The shop is located on I55 off the side of the freeway. You can see it from the freeway for sure. I stepped in and a gentlemen at the front cash register said hello. He was pretty engaged in a conversation with what was obviously one of the regulars. Now the good part -- the place is filled with great quality stogies at comparable prices. I would actually say that they are not overpriced from what I have shopped at previously. Brand names include Gurkha, Rocky Patel, CAO, Davidoff, Nubs, Oliva, Fuentes, Romeo and Julieta, Drew Estates -- too many to list but for sure something for everybody. There is a small seating area towards the back as well as 2 seats in front of the doors before you go in. In general a nice place to get your smokes. Check the website to see general information.

They took the time to educate us about proper care for it, helped us cure the wood and prepare it, and expected nothing in return. In fact, they almost looked shocked when we purchased more products from their store! Their "man cave" is comfy with large plush couches and chairs to relax on while smoking your pipe, cigar, or even cigarette. We will keep this shop on our radar for future travels! Oh, and for those of you who are military: they do give a discount. Good to see that we aren't forgotten!

As Jacksons oldest, and possibly Mississippis oldest serving tobacco shop, there's probably a good reason for such an achievement. The answer is blatantly obvious as soon as you walk through the doors and are welcomed in, and you breathe in the smell of fine tobacco. It's warm, inviting, and a bit rustic with brick and mortar flooring, hardwood and glass display counters, and Pipe-smoking memorabilia on display for all to see. It also has a gigantic selection of various blends of Tobacco(Of which I highly suggest the Rivendell blend.) and Cigars, with a new display window to the Humidifier! It also has a very comfortable smoking area located in the back of the shop, with cushy leather seats and a TV that usually has some sort of Sports channel on. read more

What a great place. They have a great selection of tobaccos but don't overlook their House Blends. This has been the Jackson Area's pipe and tobacco shop for more than 40 years and first my father and later I became a loyal customer of one of the best true tobacco shops in the country. Our family has been with them from the beginning and still going strong. Hint: try the Cherokee blend, it will be your everyday "special" tobacco. read more
