Came by this place by accident really when passing through Brunswick. It's really just a pub but the best part isn't the drinks but the food haha. Good vibes all round. The staff were super nice and welcoming Ordered the double down vegan version and holy moly was blown away by how good it was ... Left my carnivorous roomate asking to come back everytime we pass through the area !

This isn't like most other pubs, because although they have a selection of meals on their menu that you would almost certainly find in other pubs, many of the traditional pub meals have a vegan option! This of course means quality vegan meals like my vegan parma pictured below, a vegan 'chicken' kiev served with potato gems, peas and gravy, a vegan fishless box, a vegan spiced 'duck' and 'chicken' souvlaki, awesome vegan burgers and salads - and even awesome vegan snacks such as vegan buffalo soldiers and vegan fried mac and cheese bites, as well as a vegan HSP. The atmosphere is always electric, staff are always friendly and happy to accommodate any special requests, and they have a large range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. If you're vegan and you're looking for something a bit different, definitely give this place a go! 5/5

One of the best craft pubs in Brunswick imo. The selection and quality of the beer is superb. The pub has a mix of locals staring at the TV screen and diners, plus some that fall in-between. There is a good food thing most nights (often so popular you need to book a table for the dining room), cheap parmas, burgers or my fav Wednesday $15 steak night. The selection you get with it makes it a step above many other "steak nights". My fav is the $1 addition of béarnaise sauce to my steak with chips and salad, his is chips, veg and garlic butter. I just wish they could get the fish and chips right. We've tried it several times over the year we've come here and it's never hit the mark of their other food. The staff have a lot of knowledge about their beers and I like that if you sit at the front tables you are offered table service. There are some tables out the front where in summer the windows/doors are pushed back making the front bar an indoor / outdoor area, as well as a beer garden at the back, behind the dinner area on the other side of the bar. There are also "events" such as a quiz, open mic night and music. A good local!

Love The Cornish, it's a good local!. Unpretentious and inviting. This venue is a Wednesday evening favourite of mine as they have a cheap Steak Night. There has been a few occasions when 'I forgot' to go shopping so didn't have anything in the house to eat... The Porterhouse steak for $17 with chips, veg and amazing garlic butter is great. To wash this down there's a choice of craft beers for $10 (everyday). The service is quick and friendly so all good. Have recently tried their pizza and have to say I wasn't expecting too much for $14 but it was great (had the Americana with extra mushies). There's a small beer garden out back but I covert the tables between the bar and street. You can get table service there too so don't have to bother getting up to walk the 4 steps to the bar :-)

A great pub to catch up with friends over a vegan dish even if it's a pizza atmosphere was quite nice, they had trivia night on Thursday, was packed out though found a table in beer garden which was pleasant. staff were friendly and reliable catering for all needs and delivered service promptly. Reasonably priced, pots of ciders were $5 which were cheap and staff members made us aware of this, def value for money!!! Will revisit and want to try their vegan parmigiana next time, they're known for their variety of vegan dishes, menu looked great and catered for all.

Cornish Arms is my local go-to when I'm staying at my mates just of Sydney Road. The venue is pretty verstile. I usually pop in here when they run 'Grouse Party' (every second Friday of the month), it's a big queer party that plays some wicked ghetto beats and cheap drinks! Wednesday nights see some Pizza specials, $7 a pop last time I checked. The venue is quite popular for after work drinks and it's hard to get a seat when they're running cheap drinks and food. The Cornish Arms has a pretty spacious outdoor area and the inside is quite nice, small dance floor and pool tables to play on.

I'm OK with any place that serves up live music on a regular basis and has cold beer. Really, there's nothing wrong with any place that does both those things in my book -- the Cornish Arms is all right by me. I agree with Cam E's review to an extent. They do try and be a bit everything for everybody, but I reckon they still have a decent formula. My problem with the place is the crowd. I wouldn't say the bands are an afterthought necessarily (they put them on after all, so there is some live music focus about the place), but the crowd can go either way. In pulling punters in for so many different reasons, you get this disjointed vibe and it never really feels like there's much of a community spirit about the joint. They play an important role in this town's music culture, however, in that they don't cater just for the indie or rock or hip hop or whatever crowd, and that should be congratulated. And their band bookings have improved greatly in recent times. This place is on the rise.

I have only ever come here for the $7 pizza mania nights on Tuesdays. The pizzas are pretty tasty and for $7, well, who's complaining. The communal tables in the courtyard are nice enough to enjoy the chow down with one of their ten beers on tap. My regular Tuesday evening yoga class is just around the corner from the Cornish Arms, so it's straight from meditation to margarita. Well, yoga is so much about balance.

Monday is open mic night at the Cornish. The place to be on a Monday night (sort of). Every other night is sure to have live music on, if not then it's trivia, and good trivia. Better bands will usually play weekend shows, but one of the strangest i've seen was an old 50s sot with seated folks onstage behind huge shells for music stands. If you didn't look outside the windows you could be confused enough to think you're on a cruise ship. Speaking of out the windows, to the back and though the glass is a marvelous beer garden with big sharing tables and the perfect amount of hide away from the busy street feel about it. The brews are good, and food special are on nearly every night of the week.

Nice busy bar, but the staff are always speedy.

As a vegan, this place is a treat when going out with meat-eating friends and family. A classic dirty dingy Aussie pub with daily specials, cheap craft beer and trivia nights. Vegan Parma on a Sunday is a must, and their burger options are great. If you want a traditional night at the pub, The Cornish Arms will certainly deliver.

Anyway a friend and I were resolute to get the Thursday $12 parma/pot special. The service was fine, cant complain for $12. The parma was massive with a wee side salad and chips, look it was pretty dry but satisfied a baser carnivorous instinct. Theres the front bar/pub/dining space which also has live music occasionally. Out the back is a "fancier" dining space open for lunch and dinner. I cant comment on the other food besides the parma but I would stick to the pub basics. Not rushing back in a hurry.

Next to it is the doorway, flanked by friendly bouncers ready to welcome you to this interesting new space! Is it a warehouse party? An art installation? A beer garden? A cocktail bar? A "asian-ish" tapas house? A music venue? Is it a mash up of all of these things? Yes. Is it good? Hells yes! I ventured in on a rainy cold night, so the first outdoor/indoor space was a bit wasted on my group. Instead we were in the true indoor space and spent time either mingling at the bar, sitting around the booth-like tables or (later in the night) showing off our moves as we enjoyed the DJ. The food was terrific - hot, flavoursome and beautifully presented in square steamer boxes that worked really well in conjunction with the cutlery holders, plates and sauce jars. It was obvious that a lot of thought has gone in to how the food is to be presented and consumed and it's this kind of attention to detail that always wins brownie points with me. Notable snacks: - The jars of pickled "things". I have no idea what it was (capsicum?) but it was delicious. - Crocodile spring rolls. No, I couldn't really taste crocodile but I felt badass eating them. - The bao, particularly the Kingfish. Fun to eat, though I think most of them came with mayo inside and I would have liked to have seen some variations on sauce. Wish a massive selection of beer, wine, impressive gin selection (though no Australian representation which I would have liked) and some inventive cocktails on the list there's pretty much something for everyone. I stuck to simple spirits and beer (Hitachino Nest White Ale on tap!) but I'd like to venture back to put the bartenders through their paces on the cocktails and see if they can cut it. The services was exceptional - super friendly and very attentive.
