I visited this pub last evening with my wife and my 2 daughters (16 & 20) plus a friend of my eldest daughter it was my eldest daughters birthday.
The manageress was as cold as it was outsidelooking down her nose at us as we approached the bar she never even spokewaiting for me to commence ordering drinks as she continued to scrutinize our party.
As she placed the bottle of WKD on the bar, I asked if we could please have a glass with that which she totally ignored asking, 'would you like ice with the coke'. I then ignored her and repeated, could we have a glass with that please. In silence she reached for a glass, still ignoring the fact that I had spoken to her and repeated again, would you like ice with that.
I have never felt so unwelcome.
A little while later after we had decided what we were going to eat I went to the bar to order the food.
Upon arriving at the bar, I told the barman that I would like to order food please, to which he replied, of course.
I then ordered the food, was told the total and offered my 'card' to pay the bill to which the barman then says, 'sorry, the card machine is broken, we can only accept cash'.
Surely you would tell customers that BEFORE they orderednot wait 'til 5 meals have been ordered, added up and then say we can only accept cash absolutely abismal.
I walked away from the bar in disgust and my wife ended up going to a cashpoint to pay had it not been for the fact that we had just ordered drinks, we would have left and gone elsewhere.
Better off at KFC, Burger King, McDonalds, Subway or any other greasy spoon will do, if you want better service than The Cornhill offers.
I wouldn't even use this place if I just needed a loo
ONE redemption the food was relatively good. read more
