This left us with so many questions on what to purchase and how much to purchase for liquor. We had over a hundred guests in attendance. As soon as I walked in the door and explained what I was looking for the women asked a couple of questions regarding budget and taste and off they went making suggestions on what to choose, how much to choose and even offered to have it delivered if the venue was local to the store. This reassured a nervous bride that we would have it ready on time for the big day. I am so grateful for all they did to help. If and when we have another big party and need help, they will be the store we choose!!

Once I sobered up a bit, I copied down the name and googled to see where I could find it in CT. I was expecting perhaps one of those big warehouse stores, but no, the only place in the state which carried it was Grand Vin a store which I must have passed dozens of times on my way through Fair Haven. I headed over and have have been a customer ever since. The guy who is always there when I drop by is very knowledgeable and will direct you to something you'll like, whether it's a high end, or more my style - cheap and tasty. For a store with a relatively small footprint, the selection of wines and liquors is impressive. I've never gone looking for something without finding it, at a fair price, too.

What the fuck do we have here? I was sitting down at work looking for fine liquors on the clock as…read moreI always do, and I figured I'd give this place a call to see if they had my sought after Johnny Walker Blue Label. I was looking for a snazzy gift for my brother Paulie Shmeat Pocket. The guy picks up the phone and I simply ask him if they have it in stock. He replies yes. I'm elated to the point where I almost pop a chubby. I then asked how much it was per bottle. All he says is "you have to come inside" and then hangs up the phone right in my face. In my fucking face. My semi chub instantly turned bright red with anger as I was treated so poorly by this dying and irrelevant liquor store no one even shops at. Here I am thinking I can give this guy some business but clearly he didn't even want it. I will personally not rest until I sink this place under. Usually my reviews are full of joy and laughter. This one is completely serious and true. I will take you down liquor man. You have my word. Dial tone was sub par.

I was lured by the store website's listing of a highly recommended wine (at $50+), only to find the store only carried the wine from a different (two years earlier, much lower rated) vintage. The clerk confirmed that the wine was only available from this vintage. I made the purchase anyway, then did my research and had buyer's remorse about being the victim of a bait-and-switch. Returning two days later for a refund, the clerk and only employee on duty said he couldn't authorize the refund and contact the owner by phone, after which he reported that I had to return to the store and talk to the owner. Returning the next day, the owner kept me hanging while he checked the website for the discrepancy, then said it wasn't his responsibility (because someone else manages the website) and finally concluded that I had knowingly accepted that wine and wasn't entitled to a refund. Apparently, all sales are final. If you have an issue with a purchase, don't expect the establishment to make it right. P.S. If you want a receipt, you need to ask for it.

If' I'd been there for wine, I'd probably have a lot more to say, but I wanted a very popular size of a very popular liquor, and they had it. It was $45; I don't know what Connecticut liquor taxes or even prices in New Haven are like generally, so I can't judge the price. I was the only customer at the time. It was cramped. Decor was mostly bottles of wine. I used Yelp to find it and all of the reviews are super old and together they were a mixed bag, so I wanted to say I had a satisfactory experience.
