I've had my car into Olson's several times and always am happy with the service. A year ago, Jeremy installed a replacement radio/CD player for my 03 Buick. He contacted the local junkyards and luckily they did have the exact same radio model for an 03 model. However, it was a real pain to install but Jeremy just kept at it til he got the job done. I was impressed. A year later, the radio still works and puts out amazing sound. I highly recommend Olson's Auto Repair. Hats off to Jeremy, Rod, and Erik.

My wife and I are new to Grand Forks and are looking for a good mechanic. Finding Olson Auto Repair…read moreseemed like a good fit after reading about the family history and how the shop has been handed down to the the third generation. What has been unfortunate with our experience is the lack of communication. The first day, I left a message via phone call, in addition, sent an email to schedule service. The second day, I called and left a message. No response from either day. I looked on their website to see if they were closed down for any reason and there is nothing to indicate that they were on vacation, family emergency, etc. I hope everything is well but in this day and age it is too easy for people to communicate. From my end, I am thinking that they have enough customers and don't need anymore. Or, they just don't care. Time to move on to someone who would like to have our business.

We picked it up and it was way to small... sent pics and informed them what was wrong and asked how it was wrong when you have the old one for measurements? So I brought it back again and with an attitude they told me "well I guess we'll have to add more fabric than" and I said yep should be the same size as the old one. Do you still have it? They said Umm yeah I think I might. Give me about 45 minutes it should be ready. I said OK see you in a bit. They called to tell me it was ready as I was about 2 blocks from them and I said I'll be right there so he came out after I pulled up and brought it to my vehicle and said here you go have a good day and if it don't line up with a couple of the button snaps here's some snaps to screw to the boat to make it fit. Bye. Stunned I sat there a minute and thought what if it still don't fit?! Ugh now what do I do?! I brought it home and it didn't fit! Still too small! And not 1 of the 20+ button snaps line up! So much for our holiday plans with the pontoon in 2 days! So I called the store and said it still too small so he informed me how to put one side on then zip it up and button the other side lol apparently he don't think I know how to connect buttons. Nope still don't Fit I said. Well if you unbutton it is there enough fabric to fit? I giggle outta frustration and said No its too small. Oh he said well I'm busy with customers right now can I call you in 10 minutes? I hesitated and said you close in 10 minutes! He said u know I'll call you later. Bye. Click! 2 1/2 hours later I'm still WAITING!!! Oh I'm pissed! I'm going back tomarrow to finish that conversation in person! Oh! And I live 3 hours away round trip! And they charged way more than they said it would be!

There's nary problem he can't fix. He is an old school nuts and bolts mechanic. You're not going to see walls of fancy equipment telling you what the problem is. You're going to see wrenches, impact drivers, sockets, screwdrivers and the like. He's one of those guys that can listen to your car and tell you what's wrong. Like all mechanics, he's got busted knuckles, a bad back and miles of scar tissue. He kept thousands of vehicles that were long overdue for the junkyard on the road. His customer base ranged from the richest people in Grand Forks to the people like me who lived paycheck to paycheck. He treats everyone like they are his best friend. 124 Belmont Road is a little slice of heaven, it's sad it's a forced retirement but Paul has worked 15 hour days and sometimes more to keep his customers happy. As the son of a mechanic with 50 years+ experience, I can safely say that Paul is one of the most respected people in automotive business in North Dakota, scratch that North America.
