My mother always wanted a simple funeral with no pomp and ceremony. When I suggested to her that I could arrange her funeral myself she was really pleased. The hospice said I could use their mortuary and I looked for coffins online. I am so grateful that I found The Coffin Company. Mark is lovely, easy to talk to and SO HELPFUL. He didn't think it strange that I wanted to 'do it myself' and explained clearly how to get the right size coffin. The coffin was beautiful- Autumn Gold Oval Willow, and inexpensive compared with even the cheapest coffin sold by funeral directors. Postage was an extra cost but was very efficient and worth it to see the delivery man's face (he joked saying, 'It looks like a coffin!' I said, 'It is!').
It was all such a good experience that when my auntie died I did the same, but this time using the mortuary services of a good, understanding funeral director. This time I ordered a traditional shaped Autumn Gold Willow coffin. Again EXCELLENT.
This week another auntie died. She had been frugal all her life and her wishes were to have 'something very simple'. Persuaded by my cousins to 'keep things easy' for myself, I intended to use a funeral director this time. He collected my auntie's body from the care home and was really lovely but when I went to speak to him the next day I realised that I would much prefer to do it myself again. So I have just ordered my THIRD coffin from The Coffin Company!!!This time it is going to be cream wicker in the oval shape. I am looking forward to seeing it as photos on a website don't really do the coffins justice. It should look lovely with a big bouquet of garden flowers and greenery. read more
