Small local in the centre of Woolton village, also known as the Cobden Vaults.
The pub has a single bar and an open plan layout with several different drinking areas, all done out in a bright if unremarkable decorative scheme (apparently, it used to be very faux-villagey with horse brasses).
It serves decently-kept real ale, and clearly has a loyal, local customer base. Staff also seemed friendly, although it all seemed a bit lacking in atmosphere overall on my visit.
An oddity was a fold-away gaming table laid out in one area (with another folded up against the wall), with a small but enthusiastic group of poker players. When they have two tables out, it must seem quite a joint read more
