After going through the Better Business Bureau due to the experience I had with this company, I was…read morefinally able to have some resolution, thanks a very nice man who actually heard me out. I would still be cautious about purchasing eReaders from this company, but if you do decide to, make sure you are aware of the return policy (no returns under any circumstances). Also, don't count on customer service to be of much help, if you have a problem make sure to ask for a manager or director to speak to directly. The nice man who helped me (I am not exactly sure what his job title is, other than some type of director) listened to my situation and tried his best to help me fix the problem, not just for me but also for all the other students in my class that purchased an eReader. He let me know issues such as the one I had are rare and not typical of their company. I'd like to believe this is true.

UPDATE (10/2/26):…read more Subject: FINAL DEMAND: Unfulfilled Refund for Order placed 8/26/26 - Fraudulent Shipment & CAG/CFPB Escalation To: Sara Anderson (Director of Operations) and Cognella Executive Support This is my final communication before formal regulatory intervention. I am furious with the absolute lack of integrity, the public misrepresentations, and the deceptive shipping tactics your company is employing. You have 24 hours to provide the exact bank transaction reference number for my refund, or I will hand this entire timeline over to federal and state regulators. The Facts & Deceptive Timeline: August 26, 2026: I ordered this textbook for the immediate start of my semester. September 4, 2026: USPS tracking showed "Package Acceptance Pending." The package sat dead in your custody. September 9, 2026: Having no textbook for my coursework, I was forced to file a dispute with my credit card company. Mid-September 2026: You, Sara Anderson (Director of Operations), publicly stated on Yelp, Google Reviews, and the Better Business Bureau: "We have already refunded your order in full." October 1, 2026: Suddenly, 27 days after the initial scan and 36 days after my order, the shipment miraculously started moving. October 2, 2026 (Today): No refund from Cognella exists on my credit card. The only credit on my account is the temporary, legal freeze issued by my credit card company due to your failure to deliver. Let me be explicitly clear: You Lied Publicly: If you "already refunded the order in full" in mid-September, you would have a transaction receipt. Where is it? Deceptive Shipping Tactic: Moving a package 36 days late--after publicly claiming you issued a refund--is a transparent, bad-faith attempt to manipulate the USPS tracking system to fight my bank dispute. Delivery Refusal: I needed this book five weeks ago, not now. I will absolutely Refuse Delivery of this package. It will be marked "Return to Sender" completely unopened. You will not pass off this late delivery as a fulfilled order. My Required Resolution: If a full refund was actually processed, reply to this message within 24 hours with the Merchant Refund Transaction ID. If you fail to provide proof of the refund or attempt to use this delayed October 1 shipment to challenge my bank dispute, I am immediately forwarding this exact timeline--along with screenshots of your public statements--to the California Attorney General and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) for consumer fraud and deceptive business practices. Do not send me generic customer service templates. Fix this today. I ordered this textbook on August 26, 2026 for the beginning of the semester. The shipping label was created on September 3, 2026, and USPS showed "Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending" on September 4, 2026. Because the textbook had not been delivered and was needed for coursework, I filed a credit-card dispute on September 9, 2026. When I checked the tracking on September 11, 2026, the package still had not entered the USPS mail stream and showed no meaningful movement. After the dispute was filed, Sara Anderson, Cognella's Director of Operations, publicly stated on Yelp, a Google Review response, and a Better Business Bureau response: "We have already refunded your order in full." As of October 2, 2026, no refund from Cognella appears on my credit-card account. The only credit visible is the temporary dispute credit issued by my card issuer while the dispute remains under investigation. What makes this situation particularly concerning is that after publicly claiming the order had already been refunded in full, the shipment suddenly began moving through the USPS network on October 1, 2026. That was 27 days after the September 4 "Package Acceptance Pending" scan and 36 days after I originally placed the order on August 26 for a time-senstive college course. To summarize: August 26: Order placed. September 4: Tracking shows "Package Acceptance Pending." September 9: Credit-card dispute filed. September 11: Tracking still shows no meaningful movement. Mid-September: Cognella publicly states, "We have already refunded your order in full." October 1: Shipment suddenly begins moving, 36 days after purchase. October 2: No Cognella refund appears on the credit-card account. The textbook was needed at the beginning of the semester, not more than five weeks after purchase. If the order was truly "already refunded in full," where is the refund transaction? And if the order was already refunded, why did the shipment suddenly begin moving more than a month after the order was placed?

This paper has potential but still has a lot of room for improvement. I come from a small New…read moreEngland town where the local paper IS your source for news... outside of the gossip grape-vine. Even the kids in my high school lined up on Thursday mornings to see their photos in the sports highlights or get the latest dirt on the last town meeting. When I moved to North County San Diego I expected the same interest and insistence of quality from the locals but was disappointed. This past spring we had a kid murdered in San Marcos at a party. The entire day the CSI truck was parked outside attracting a lot of attention. I logged into www.NCTimes.com several times over the course of the day only to find up-to-the-minute highlights of the our local celebrity owl babies. While I do think there is a time and a place for fluff news like this, I was disappointed that the murder was posted more than 12 hours after it happened and was deeply buried. I actually ended up finding a more detailed story on the San Diego Tribune website. I wrote the N.C. Times editor about the murder and never received a call or email in return. The format for the online edition is useful and easy to navigate. The interface for leaving discussions is dreadful. Nothing but idiots saying outrageous things to get attention and hiding behind their anonymity. I hope they can change their format to encourage thoughtful discussions and start monitoring the morons who have been taking over the comments section so that those of us who actually care about our neighborhood can offer something positive.

What a ridiculous response to try and make you all the victims here when in fact a grieving family was wronged. We had some tense emails but zero threats and let's not forget who messed up here. The interactions with this unprofessional group are clear in the actual proof below. Sequence of events: You Ran the obit wrong You Offered to fix it You Removed offer to fix it Then the email below with me stating that it would be a grave error to not follow through on your word. Trying to make that common phrase into some kind of a 'threat' is pretty gross behavior. And bringing my business into this review (which has zero to do with a personal obituary) only shows how unprofessional you and your company are. You did something incorrect and didn't fix it. It is a 'grave error' in judgement as what could have been a simple fix has turned into this client making sure others know about your weird editing practices and unprofessional behavior. When you run a business properly, such as mine that you threw into this situation, you'll see that clients LOVE to leave positive reviews (over 100) when you treat them well and meet their needs. And finally you have lied in your response. The obituary was edited from Renee to Mrs. _______ last name. How many times it was edited doesn't matter. It was done without consent and you depersonalized an obituary written by her family.
