There are always plenty of trolleys of each size and the car park is always pretty tidy.

Their food is slightly more expensive, but the difference in price is minimal, and I find the food to be very good quality on the whole, with longer use-by dates. They also have a great clothing range. I love the fact that you can use a handheld scanner to scan your own shopping in. It makes things so much quicker.

I have to give this store a mixed review…read more Admittedly the prices are great, they sell a huge range of products from food to clothes, toys and homewares, and the shelves always seem very well stocked. However, I do find that the store is busy at pretty much any time of day, and the store is not really set out to accomodate this. The aisles are very narrow and it's quite easy to find yourself stuck behind someone who's blocking the path. It can make your grocery shopping quite stressful. That said, they are fantastic if you order your groceries from them online - they offer sensible substitutions and the food is always fresh. Their new self-service check outs in-store are great fun!

However, I don't love the way that unless you go first thing in the morning or later at night, you will struggle to a) find a full car parking space! and b)struggle to find a small trolley. The produce employees tend to block aisles too, while they are restocking, but at least the produce is fresh. Everything is reasonably priced at Asda and they have some fab offers and lovely gifts.

A very nice range of home wears which are usually the bit I stand dribbling at. The food part is wonderful though, but 2 things that I really can recommend are the Prosecco and the chocolate brownie gateaux (which may explain a lot about me) and to be honest the prices are not that far of Sainsbury so if I do shop there I don't really notice a difference. I always like looking around the John Lewis department and my children love browsing the sizeable toy department. The cafe is a great place to stop for lunch, too. The car park is vast, with half of it above ground and half below ground. There seem to be plenty of parent & child spaces.

Sometimes the special offers are great on named brands e.g. Heinz, but non foods a lot of the time are cheap tat (ideal gifts for that person you just don't like) Parking is easy and the staff are helpful and quick. Just remember to take your own bags as watching tinned stuff roll away down the car park after being dropped is funny to watch isn't so funny when it's your tins.

I am French from Paris and stopped at Lidl in Eastern Avenue this morning. I bought 2 pains au…read morechocolat and 1 croissant. I just could not believed it when I was eating them. There is no difference with a French bakery. Both had enough butter, enough chocolate bars for the pain au chocolat and were crunchy on the surface and not like a marshmallow. The kind of croissant that you do not need to put crap inside because it is good enough to eat it plain on its own. I came back in the afternoon to tell a member of the staff how great it was and bought again two pains au chocolat and two croissants. I do not know who is in charged of preparing them, but if somebody sees the person responsible, please congratulate her on my behalf and may be if the opportunity arises, this person should open a bakery in Gloucester.

Not the best place to just pop in for a couple of things though - you could be there for a while queuing! Fab addition of the starbucks outlet for you to relax before/after shopping. The staff always seem pleasant and friendly, although not the most knowledgeable sometimes!!
