The food was plentiful, included in the cost. The property takes great pride in its service to its guests. We felt like one of the family by the time we left. At that time, the hotel had many wedding guests. We had a spacious room with the best view of the Kansas prairie. You just opened the curtains and there it was - as far as the eye can see, free of the burdens of big city life. A police officer had just pulled someone over in the parking lot for some alleged traffic infraction, just as we were pulling in. A suggestion is to go the speed limit and don't hurry to your destination.

Curtains are black out and a/c works well and isn't too loud. There is shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and a makeup cloth and hair dryer. The not so great: decor is dated but I don't mind such things, The biggest "ding" is that there is no elevator. The hotel is only two levels but if you have a lot of luggage or you're disabled, it could be a big problem. My main complaint: the bed mattress is/eas horrible. Squishy but not soft and not firm. I can't explain but it was not a comfortable bed. Pillows are fine. The breakfast is OK. It's probably about the same as some other higher end hotels. Nothing else special to eat after breakfast. You're limited to Subway or PizzaHut for later. Having said that, this is a small town in Kansas at least an hour from larger towns. There are only three hotels. This is probably your best shot

I suspect the local retirees run it as a hobby. Pros: new tile work and bathroom fixtures (although the water pressure is a bit low, plenty of heat if needed), flat screen TVs, plenty of linens and towels, not crowded. Cons: windows to the room were sealed shut, so no possibility of fresh air (this may be a necessary precaution due to the nearby railway or for agricultural reasons, but such an imperative was not observed during my visit), no nearby food options and nothing in the hotel save breakfast and cans of soda in the fridge downstairs, and no gym or fitness anything.

One entrance door, but then it veers off to 2 more separate entrance doors to each establishment. I never went to it due to several circumstances, but they have a "grab and go" type breakfast. It was explained to me that it's not a continental breakfast, but just fruit, yogurt, coffee, and juice. Got there relatively late due to various reasons and it had been a very day! After unloading everything, I noticed the nightstand between the 2 beds was dirty/sticky. I wasn't the least bit impressed, but thought things happen. Next I went to put stuff in the refrigerator only to find a small pint of ice cream in the freezer part. I probably should have just called the manager at that point because from my experience it only goes from bad to worse usually. I took a shower and then went to get in bed, but the sheets were DIRTY! The bottom sheets had multiple stains on them and I also found dried food on the pillowcases. I called the manager on duty, which was around midnight by that time. She said I'll switch your rooms. I had to go back down to the main entrance to get the new set of keys, which it would have been nice for them to be delivered considering I had to gather up everything. Before I could even leave the room (within 5 minutes from calling) the front desk called to ask me if I was coming up there? Well dang I just got out of the shower, so I needed time to put some clothes on and drive down to the office!!! So, we had to move all of our stuff to a different room in the middle of the night after a LONG day! Last thing I wanted to do! We get to the next room and find some type of bug on the bathroom floor, it got smashed. The bed was as hard as a rock with a dip in the middle, enough said! Pillows were flat as pancakes! It's like this motel is the gift that keeps on giving and not in a good way! After all that happened I decided upon checkout I would talk to the person in charge, which happened to be the same person that gave me the key in the middle of the night. She apologized and said it's just difficult to find help because nobody wants to work. I don't see how this should be my problem? I paid (almost $100.00) for a room/service in good faith, but yet due to several circumstances that failed expectations. I was also questioned why I was just getting any that late? Never knew I had a curfew, so that didn't go over well with me!!!! I would not recommend this place!!!

The Victorian Inn is, I'm pleased to say, a cut above much of what you'll find out there -- not above "the competition," as this remains the only lodging option in Superior, but well above what you might expect in this part of the world. The facility has a delightfully split personality, with rooms for both those seeking the Victorian / nostalgia / kitsch vibe and those simply after a tidy, quiet, comfortable place to sleep, clean up, and catch the news. I'm the latter sort, and the "old building" -- a renovated motel-style facility -- is a nice bargain. There's a decent diner-style restaurant (also indie, the Velvet Rose) about a block up the way, and a Pizza Hut across the street. I do suggest that you bring your own toiletries if you're particular -- they're provided, but Cashmere Bouquet isn't all that -- but otherwise I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by this friendly, unassuming facility.
