I had read that the course had been completely redone and it's night and day compared to Raptor Bay. Starting to with the clubhouse, it's absolutely pristine. The staff was exceptional with getting us ready for our final round of the trip. The course is absolutely beautiful! The super cool turf walls and waste bunkers add a fun element. The first 6 holes are the most challenging and preserve some of the old Raptor Bay feel (very little rough on each side of the fairway before you hit water or dense vegetation). Even then, the holes were still fun to play. The remaining 18 were perfect and it doesnt hurt that I shot my best 9 hole score on the back 9. This course isn't cheap, but it's the perfect way to end a golf weekend. We always pick a super nice course to finish off the trip and Saltleaf absolutely nailed it!

We paid for 2 hours ($50/hour, $100 total, $25/person) and were able to take practice shots for about 30-45 minutes and then play 4 holes. The service is great! Our bartender brought food/drinks directly to our bay and put college basketball on the TVs behind our bay upon request, and was very friendly. The beer was cold and the wings were delicious. I recommend everyone checks The Cave out at least once. Especially fellow locals that typically hibernate from golf during the winter because of tee time cost/availability. Gonna be great in the summer too when you need a break from the summer heat. My only 2 recommendations for ownership, both very minor; first, upgrade the sound system. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a couple speakers on either end of the building or bar, but music coming from the TV speakers wasn't ideal. Second, toss your wings in sauce instead of serving sauce on the side.

The The grouchy school principal who called everyone a "Slacker". He scolded me for having my shirt tail untucked and not tending to a pitch mark that he assumed that I made. No discussion just his admonishment to me. As I'm not a member there I wasn't familiar with their dress code. I actually started with it in but after 5 holes and 95° heat I untucked it, cooler that way. Additionally, I always carry a ball mark repair tool in my pocket and use it. As he was going off on me about the ball mark I was wondering if I actually made a mark. I'm usually good about repairing but could have missed that one. So sorry Mr. Strickland, perhaps I'm just a SLACKER. Your course isn't that nice anyway and way overpriced. Don't worry this SLACKER won't be back.
