Wandering around Forsyth waiting for a friend, I saw a review for The Cigar Shoppe and decided to visit. I'm glad I did! Walked in the door shortly after opening time and was greeted by Tim, the owner. I'm not a one-brand smoker and had nothing special in mind, so I took a few minutes to browse the humidor. What a great selection! Being open-minded and maybe a little indecisive, I asked for a recommendation. A kid in a candy store, I wanted professional help! So after a brief discussion with the usual questions about what I like, he asked when I was going to smoke it: during the day, or maybe later with a drink. I always ask for recommendations, but don't ever remember being asked about my smoking environment before. Extra points for that. I had time to kill, so I'd enjoy some time in his cigar lounge. He recommended a moderately priced Oliva - one of my go-to brands. After lighting up, I adjourned to the lounge, where a crowd had already gathered - before 10:00 AM. All regulars, I assume - they took in this stranger, and we had a good conversation while I enjoyed my smoke. I've been smoking on and off since the early '80s - my best friend and most recent smoking buddy died a few years ago, and I never made much time for smoking alone since. Today reminded me what I've been missing - I'll make an effort to get back here again! Great shop, great people, great cigars! read more

Most impressive jewel of cigar stores. Location easy off and on the highway access. The layout is a cigar smokers dream! When I tell you they have the biggest cigar selection in GA I meant what I said. They have every cigar you can imagine. The owner Tim is an ex-marine and appears to have done some serious research and traveling to build this 16 year old establishment into a successful and thriving business. Once you arrive and get an education on your smoking needs then you can make your way over to the bar area. The bar area is surrounded by artifacts such as swords, photos, pool tables good beer and rare wine selections. Flatscreens are located throughout the large private space. The bar is well designed with comfortable seating throughout. There is also a patio with a green egg pit for members ( does not include steaks). Staff is very aware on products pricing and effective with the overall experience! I ended up going twice in 2 days. Bought 5 cigars to test drive the flavor and will be heading back to make some additional purchases in the near future. read more

I'm not a rookie cigar smoker, I've enjoyed a good stick since the 1990's, and have a "thing" for Arturo Feuntes Hemingways, especially the short stories. Enter The Cigar Shoppe. Located in Settingdown Road off of 400 at the tip of Cumming, is this jewel. I sauntered in wanting to find an AF Between the Lines, not something I'd had luck finding over the holidays. Low and behold, this store had it all, and I mean ALL!!! The gentleman at the counter was very gracious in walking me thru the humidor, and my eyes just took it all in as the saliva just slid down my chin. The smells and sights if you're a cigar smoker....well, it just did it for me! What I didn't know was just how big and inventory this place has. He sells everything, and he's definitely a dealer in Arturo's if that's your brand. There's a terrific looking smoking room off to the side of the entrance that I can't wait to come and have a smoke in. If you're in the market for a good smoke, head to the Cigar Shoppe. Few other cigar lounges and store can top this establishment. A very impressive humidor stocked with very sought after cigars, from Opus X to rare Tats and Liga Privada's. This humidor will satisfy a cigar aficionado. If you are looking for a special cigar, look no further.... In addition to the humidor, this place has comfy seats, a full bar and even a wine cava stocked with some of the finest wine ever. I thought the humidor was impressive but the wine cellar exceeded all expectations. The folks are friendly and laid back. The crowd is also a friendly bunch. The owner is a pretty stand up kinda guy, I say this because, he takes a very fair approach when selling his rare cigars. Meaning, .. when rare cigars are available, he limits the purchase to 2 sticks per person. That gives the average schmoe like me a chance to land some of the better smokes. Most shops will save the smokes for their best customers but this guy makes it fair. With that said, I was in the store with when he had 2 boxed of Liga UF13 Darks and I couldn't buy any because he doesn't know the selling price yet.. So there sat, 2 boxes of the rarest Liga's made and I couldn't buy any. Certainly brings new meaning to .. "close but no cigar" I will be back tho.. hopefully, in time to snatch up a pair of those UF 13 Darks. read more

Wow! The Cigar Shoppe gets a definitive wow. Tim has a great selection and is very knowledgeable about cigars. He also has exclusive TAA blends some of which I purchased and are oh so delicious. The bar is set high for me for cigar shops and The Cigar Shoppe certainly delivered. I was able to find the perfect Opus X to bring back with me to Connecticut for a bachelor party that I was hosting and some other rare finds including the LFD 707 TAA, and some nearly decade old La Aurora Cien Anos. The walk in humidor was arranged neatly and cigars were easy to find. With Tim's assistance, it wasn't difficult to find some of the perfect smokes. This cigar shop is absolutely incredible! I drove past this place, not knowing anything about it, and later on stopped in. I walked in and can tell they had a nice selection of sticks, it's not the biggest humidor, but their selection is breathtaking. The humidor was just a fraction of what this store is, the lounges (yes plural) were beautiful. They had an inside, outside, a bar, and a members only lounge with a wine cellar that was amazing. I highly recommend this spot if you're in the area looking to grab some stogies. read more

Great selection of cigars and pipe tobacco is countered by elitism and rudeness of the staff. Today a supposed pipe expert affiliated with The Cigar Shoppe attempted to elicit a sale from me based on his claim that a $60-$75 Erik Nording Freehand Rustic Signature series pipe was a steal at $125 and often sold online for $400-500. He claimed that the pipe was from a limited batch of pipes specifically made for a pipe club that he is involved with, and that he was able to offer the pipes at such a low price (Ha!) due to his personal connection with the pipemaker. He even went so far as to claim that it was made from "Danish briar" which "costs $50 per block because it can't be harvested from the marshes anymore due to a law change in the 1980s". How far will The Cigar Shoppe go to get your money? Some days they are gruff and distant to the customer. Some days you get lucky and feel accepted, if not welcomed. Today I was fed lies in an attempt to get me to open my wallet. Long story short: if you have to shop here, get what you need tobacco-wise but don't fall for the pitch. As for me, my money is better spent with a tobacconist that shows more respect for his customers. read more
