One of the most authentic Italian restaurants I've been to in Sydney, if not THE most. Went here…read morefor a girls lunch a few weeks back and really enjoyed ourselves. We got the group menu where we could choose 2 courses from either entree and main or main and dessert. I'm a savoury girl so I went entree and main. Bread and olive oil (something I've grown to love since my Italy visit) was a perfect starter. The bread roll provided was huge and dense and was the perfect thing to fill my stomach (and to absorb all the wine) while we waited for the entree. The olive oil wasn't the most flavourful but they bring out a little flake salt and that was just the touch it needed. The mozzarella winter salad was just ok. There wasn't enough other stuff in the dish to make it flavourful. It was just a little bland unfortunately. But my gnocchi? My special- not on the menu but they were happy to accomodate my diet- gnocchi was oh so yum. Everyone else really seemed to like their food- they even had wild boar ragu which I may have tried if I actually ate pork. Unless you like drinking paint thinner that has gone off... stay away from the grappa espresso. I don't know what I was thinking ordering this... I hated it in Italy and it was no better in Australia. I think I was a little too tipsy at the end of my meal and just wanted to feel like I was really back in Italy -the part of Italy that I found most disgusting. That's not saying anything bad about the grappa and espresso at Cucinetta, I'm sure if you like off paint thinner, you'll love theirs. Definitely a great spot for BYO groups. Right on the water with a beautiful view and the Italian servers were friendly and accommodating.

Well I must say the food was amazingly mouthwatering, my wife an I had the farm fresh figs for entrée, the lamb and pork belly for main and the chocolate fondant, with the pear and raspberry crumble for desert. It's was just heavenly, I could not believe how WOW the food tasted... It was almost like I was trying the flavors for the first time ever. We also had the pleasure of meeting chef Vincenzo, he is such a gentleman and really does have a great passion and pride in his work. We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again when we come to sydney, I think now it is one of our favorites. Definitely a must eat when in the area and a gorgeous short ferry trip from CBD.

Lucio's is about the same distance walk from Hyde Park, just in the other direction, tucked in a quiet residential area. They don't take reservations so we made sure we were there right at 6 when they opened. Friendly servers stacked some tables up and we enjoyed the outdoor-cafe ambiance watching people in a stroll or arriving at ours and the other little restaurants in the square. The pizza was just what we've come to expect from certified Neopolitano pizzerias. The crust is key: thin, chewy and delicious. They have a wide variety of toppings. We loved the Calzone but just as toppings on the pizza, the Fontina, the arugula-prosciutto one and the white-sauce broccoli. We ordered the 1 meter pizza (which is NOT a diameter like we were thinking - more like 4 pizzas in a row) but it wasn't enough so we ordered another 1/2 meter. The rocket-pear salad was also very good. We finished the equivalent of 6 pizzas between 8 adults and 3 kids. One of us was gluten free so they brought a mozzarella/prosciutto plate. The location was nice. The kids could run around the square while we sat and chatted. It filled up quickly - if you have a big group get there early.

I had been in Sydney for about a week and couldn't find any good salad options on most of the restaurants I went to. I'm Not sure if the salad was that great or if I was so excited to finally eat a salad. I don't remember the service being that great. I was in/out pretty quickly. I sat by the window and ordered as quickly as I could. Since I was with a tour group, I had limited time, so ended up having to take my food to go. I went with the Sesame Crusted Atlantic Salmon, served with pan fried potatoes and avocado salsa. The Salmon was lightly fried, delicately crispy, tender and well seasoned. That Sesame crust was also beautifully done, with black sesame and regular sesame. Potatoes were nice and crunchy, with great flavor, while the avocado salsa included red pepper and onion, which gave it a lovely acidity. This was fresh and colorful addition to the dish. For dessert, I had the Sticky Date Cake with butterscotch sauce. I've tried this in the States, and wasn't really a fan but having it in Australia was a much better experience. The cake was delightfully moist, with the wonderful taste of dates, was made even tastier with the rich, sweet sauce with notes of caramel and toffee. Service was pretty good. The waiter came right away, but the food just took a little longer than expected.

Well the…read morereason is my friends uncle lives a few houses down and as a '60s italian migrant, said we should check it out ... and you don't argue with that !! The food is very typical of an italian eatery - pizzas, pastas and everything in between. The pizza is rather beautiful ... not on par with say Mario's or Rosso Pommodoro .. but great none the less - a special shout out goes to the chef who made the bruschetta into a pizza for us. The pastas ... well, it seems this place may have a slight reputation for their pastas. All 6 of us ordered a pasta dish as a main and of all the dishes ordered, the Pappardelle pork/veal ragu and the Pappardelle Pescatore (a tomato based seafood dish) were the 2 standout mains. Service here is slow but hey, when in Rome right? Hows that saying go?? Dolce far niente - pleasantly doing nothing.. and that's certainly what it's like here, but see this is what I love. You can sit here for HOURS talking and laughing and nibbling on the food that is still on the table because as Italians, you don't clear the table unless asked. Both times that we have come here, they have had large groups celebrating - one was a christening and the other a birthday, so this restaurant clearly caters for groups. Overall, a nice restaurant with decent food that caters for all and far from offends.

The pastas are nice, the pizzas OK, the service lousy and waitstaff can be very brusque. I've also noticed that the staff don't deal well with large functions. Glasses are forgotten, plates not changed, have to ask for clean serviettes, grated cheese, water etc. Mario's at Croydon has very good pastas & better pizzas, so they don't have a monopoly. Of course the venue is a lot better at Pappardelle. Am I being critical? No more than how I critique other places. If you are in the restaurant business good food is just one criteria, friendly and enthusiastic staff who are eager to please & interact will make your clients come back again & again. Nothing else to add.

Pull up a chair at the communal table as you walk in and wait for the delicious food to be served to you. The decor is authentic, well placed and stylish and this restaurant is not your typical all you can eat. This place caters to all people eating out. For those who are in a group there is plenty of space, those flying solo will be looked after and feel part of the group. This would also be a perfect little spot for those first couple of dates or to revisit date night with your partner. You will have your own oil, cheese and chilli at your disposal and the alternating pizza and pasta dishes just keep coming as long as your token is turned to green. If you are done flip it to red. Not sure if you have finished? Place it middle side up and take a break while you digest and make room for more deliciousness. On our visit we managed to try 6 different pizzas and countless pastas - the pesto, spicy tomato and creamy mushroom were standouts. We loved the tomato and basil pizza as well as the potato and zucchini. Drinks wise the $6 happy hour for prosecco, beer and vino and $10 spritz are great value as well. If you have a larger group of people book a spot at the smaller group tables upstairs - with its own bar section and food delivered to your table this is an awesome area of the restaurant. Pizza Authentico is in a great spot being only a 5 minute walk from Museum Station. If you are driving nabbing a park on the street can be tricky, however, there is a Wilson car park on Goulburn street that will only cost you $10 after 5pm! Come for the all you can eat any night of the week and if you can fit in dessert go for the Nutella pizza (grab takeaway for breakfast if you have to)! This will definitely feature on our list of places to visit again
