I am still feeling the impact of Ms. Gennusa's handling of my child custody case. She was demeaning, dismissive, and even at one point called me a "suck-A$$"(very professional). I worked in the media at the time and she asked me to use my access to the news organization's website to find out the names of people posting comments critical of her and others in her profession. Long story short:I paid a great deal of money over what should have been an open and shut case. I had an infant daughter, was nursing her at the time, and the child's father was trying to take her away from me. Rather than explaining that this was highly unlikely, and because he lived two hours away in a different county, he would probably just get every other weekend, Ms. Gennusa persuaded me into believing that the child would likely be taken away from me. NOTE: I had and have no criminal history or any other history that would have made my child's removal the remotest possibility. I was and am a white-collar professional respected in the community. Her role as the 'expert,' made her job of persuading me - so that she didn't have to work very hard - much easier as I believed her. She also showed up to hearings and screamed at the judge, then later showed up to trial with no intention whatsoever of actually going to trial. She hadn't deposed or called a single witness. She told me we were agreeing to one thing, behind closed doors, then read something different into the record. Another time, she had her assistant tell me to show up late for a pivotal hearing, so I did not get to tell the judge my wishes. She had me show up late, but signed in at the top of the list so that the hearing would go early. (I'm not sure how it is handled now, but according to the judicial assistant to whom I spoke, the hearings on that day went in order of who signed in first). Because of this, I still have to deal with a screwed-up agreement that is in no way in my daughter's best interest and has led to years upon years of unnecessary conflict. My daughter was dragged back and forth as an infant (two hours each way), and left alone with a step-parent or strangers I didn't know for hours to days at a time. Instead of this occurring every other weekend (which is bad enough), this happened for extra days every two weeks, and no week was ever consistent for our daughter. I had to hire a second lawyer and spend $40,000 to fix the massive screw-ups, and they still aren't quite fixed. Worse, the stress of the ridiculous, illogical and harmful schedule is now stamped on our daughter, who has behavioral and separation issues as well as some cognitive challenges. Buyer (client) beware, and please consider that I am putting my name out there, so that I am standing behind this review. The last time I posted an honest review, five years ago, she called the replacement lawyer and threatened to sue me.
