I went to a friend's weekend in Weston and was told I had to have a "drinking hat." So, off to The Celtic Ranch I went--and I found the perfect one! This little shop is adorable, with so much to see. The staff were super helpful, letting me try on a bunch of hats until I found the one that was just right. I ended up with a handmade hat from Ireland, and it was so comfy, I wore it the whole weekend--whether I was drinking or not! At $75 for that kind of craftsmanship, it was a total steal! Short story: Wife and I saw The Banshees of Inisherin and fell in love with the clothing style. I'm Irish and my wife thought it would look good on me. So we looked online for some items. Amazon.com had a huge bunch of cheap Indonesian knock-offs for sale and they all looked low quality. Eventually, we perfected our search and up popped Celtic Ranch. Ordering the correct size is difficult, and the cheap apparel from southeast Asia, is made for people who are quite a bit smaller height-wise. So I ordered some items and quickly determined what size worked for me, so I sent some items back for the correct size. One item I ordered off Amazon and it was a bit convoluted to do a return, but dealing directly with Celtic Ranch was a dream. I was able to get an RMA and within days the correct sizes were shipped! All of the items, from the vests to the scarf, to the hat and grandfather shirts are high quality and are durable. Not only do I want to order more items for me and my lass, but if we're ever in the neighborhood we want to pop in to the store and say hello! Great job, Celtic Ranch. The owner is this red head who should not be present when customers are in the store. She is rude, told me I couldn't go upstairs unless I ordered a whiskey flight. I did go upstairs and order a flight. However, numerous patrons where upstairs and just drinking beer. She embarrassed a patron when he ordered the coach (least expensive whiskey flight) and said he should order up, which he did. Everyone else who works is courteous, amazingly. Just avoid her and you will enjoy this place. read more

This store is the reason I spend so many weekends in Weston. Front store first: has an amazing selection of clothing and jewelry. Their sweaters are to die for. Need St. Patty's wear? They've got it. And the hats! I am slowly filling my wardrobe with my finds from the Celtic Ranch. Now to my favorite part: the whiskey snug! Amazing selection of all types of whiskey's from around the world. You can taste anything (for a fee) and even order specialty drinks or a beer. Definitely inhances the shopping experience! Check out their members club! First and foremost this is my favorite, "I wanna be there" place. The staff are friendly and the products are unique and always top quality. I can spend an hour there just listening to the Irish music, talking with the staff and exploring the constantly changing items. I have no idea where Terry gets her ideas but the woman is a whirl wind of fun and enthusiasm. When she is not busy finding ways to support the Irish in Kansas City, she spends time visiting nursing homes, schools and community organizations such as the Lions Club. I tell you that so you will know that The Celtic Ranch, truly stems from a person with a caring heart. Before closing this review out and telling you that you need to stop by The Ranch.... Cathy C. questioned as whether or not there are ranches in Ireland. In fact their is a HUGE horse ranch called The Irish Stud. They are open to the public for tours and you can see some of the most beautiful thoroughbreds in the world. Horses have a special place in the hearts of the Irish and a visit here proves that. The stables are nicer than my home...well almost. I was shown one stallion named "Big Bad Bob" with a stud fee of 9,000 Euro. Really, a solid 3 1/2 stars, as it is a cool store. You can definitely spend quite a bit of time in the Celtic Ranch, as there is a lot to look at and contemplate buying. Granted, some of the stuff is somewhat overpriced, but the places to buy a Crunchie bar in the Kansas City area are few and far between, so you take what you can get! Most of the items for sale have a Celtic theme to them, and would be at home in any good Irish souvenir shop. You can buy music, Irish and Scottish food items, jewelry, clothing, hurling (it's a sport) equipment, and the list goes on. There's also a back room that's devoted more to fantasy items, as evidenced by the multitude of fairies and fairy items on hand. (Kids in particular love this room.) In the fairy room (not sure of its official name), you might also find Half Pint McGee, a miniature horse, who is honestly THE MOST stoic horse I have ever met. I seriously thought she (he?) was fake at first. But nope, just totally laid back, apparently. And yes, you can pet her. Around the holidays (St. Patrick's day, the Weston Irish Fest, a couple of weeks before Xmas) they have samples of absolutely heavenly Guinness brownies and free Irish coffees for the over-21 shoppers, which are perfect to sip as you browse around the store. I would definitely suggest stopping in to the Celtic Ranch and having a look around the next time you're in Weston. Even if you don't buy anything, it's still a neat (and charming) place to shop. read more

They have ranches in Ireland? Probably not, but it's sure an accurate description of what you'll find in Celtic Ranch. This is a fun place to look around, and while a lot of the merchandise is a little pricey, there are some nice things that won't break your bank account-like some really beautiful scarves for about the same price you'd pay at Target, and they're made in the British Isles, not China! You'll find all kinds of Celtic and American West themed items here, from clothing and hats to jewelry to teas and food. And most fun of all-Scotch and Irish whiskey, which you can taste! A full 1-ounce pour will set you back anywhere from a couple of dollars for Jamison to almost 10 for some 12-year Scotch. We stumbled upon this place and spent at least an hour looking at the various items. There is a lot of leatherwork, some tartan scarves, jewelry, t-shirts, etc. In the back there was a room with a very cool, enchanted midget horse (I hope that description works, as I am not exactly sure how Half-pint McGee describes himself). It was supposed to be a cave where fairies and trolls dwelt, so I was a bit skeptical at first but utterly delighted once we went inside. Well, I'm not a shopper, but I do appreciate my whisky/whiskey (there is a difference), and this place rocks when it comes to the Scotch and Irish whiskey tastings they have scheduled a couple times each month on Sat afternoons. I made my first visit in December and thoroughly enjoyed the event, held in an attractive upstairs tasting room and hosted by the owner, a veritable Irish whiskey cowgirl. Great drink, great host, great environs - what more could you want? My only regret is I'm only in the area a few weeks per year, so it's hit or miss as to whether I can make a visit. read more

Huge shop with lots of Irish and Scottish goods. More Irish than Scottish, but plenty of both. Lots of interesting stuff, though some of it (the shirts especially) you've seen a million times over. We didn't find anything but the staff was very nice and other people were buying things while we were there. It's definitely worth walking through, you never know what you might come across. read more

I visited The Celtic Ranch and received extremely judgmental treatment, with assumptions that were not only incorrect, but also incredibly uncalled for. Five of us spent the weekend in Weston, and we got a bit separated in the store. One of my friends and I thought we heard our other friends upstairs, so we went up the (rickety) spiral staircase. About 3/4 of the way up, I realized I was fucked - a fear of heights mixed with motion sickness, and I knew I would have issues walking back down the stairs. My friend and I got upstairs and realized the other members of our group were not who we heard, and the gentleman behind the bar explained that they had just finished a whiskey tasting. He then offered us the opportunity to go back downstairs via their employee staircase. A woman then came through the door that led to said employee staircase and incorrectly assumed the reason I couldn't make it down the stairs was because I was drunk (I had consumed zero alcohol), and was extremely rude when telling me that "I shouldn't come UP them next time." She then proceeded to make it VERY clear that I would have to walk through their PRIVATE storage room, in order to...what? Guilt a paying customer into never coming back? Because that's exactly what's happened. I intended to purchase a bottle (or two) of gin and perhaps some jewelry in the store. But because I was treated so poorly, not only did I not purchase anything after that interaction, I will absolutely not go back. What an awful experience! read more

Great selection of clothing. Some western style, some celtic. Some cool irish items because of course this is an irish store. They have great hats and scarfs and you don't need to be irish to wear them! I bought a winter hat there a few years ago and still get compliments when I wear it. read more

The lady behind the counter was very pleasant, and even recommended we change some of our purchase to get more for less money. Came in today and had terrible experience with an older man, manning the front register. Was in tasting room and a man was training a newer employee and was busy with a lot of other customers. The Celtic Ranch is located in the heart of Weston, and every time I venture up there, the inventory is new, and they have great clothing from Ireland-all top quality stuff-not your "kiss me I'm Irish store". They recently got their liquor license so you can belly up for some authentic Irish whiskey and other offerings. I live 3 hours from Weston, Mo but love the town and like to make a special trip at least twice a year. I always visit the Celtic Ranch on my trips and had pleasant shopping experiences. On 9/20/17, I visited the store with intent; I was looking for tweed waistcoats for my upcoming wedding. I found exactly what I wanted but was unsure of sizing. I took a card from next to the register and drove back to Lincoln. Once I queried the groom and groomsmen, I emailed Cara. I told her the suit sizes of the men and she suggested the sizes I would need in the waistcoats. She searched the store and storage to ensure that she had all the sizes we needed. I then made a trip the next Sunday with the groom to try the grandfather shirts and waistcoats on. Everything fit perfect. Cara was there to assist us with our shopping and purchase. She is so incredibly pleasant and friendly. I cannot suggest this shop enough for the friendliness, quality of service, and quality of merchandise. read more
