The owner is very passionate about music and you can tell it from talking to him. He is friendly, was chatting with all the different customers about what they picked, and even gives good suggestions! I bought a record from a band I had never heard of before (Fox Medicine). They were in the metal section but it was cute and bright pink. I looked them up quickly and listened to a couple songs and told myself I had to get that record. The owner was chatting with me about if I liked them or not and I was honest about literally just discovering them. He gave me one of their posters free of charge! They had just performed at his store and so he had a few left. I didn't realize he was giving it to me until we were leaving, I thought he was just showing me the poster. That absolutely made my day once I realized he was just giving it to me. The variety in this store is amazing with loads of vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and even music equipment! Prices are very fair, and everything is properly labeled. Instead of me having to get my hopes up inspect the record, the front usually says the condition, pressing, if it's colored, etc. I don't have to waste my time inspecting it myself, as the staff has already done the leg work. They even have a bargain bin (wall) with great deals! Down on the floor was a box that had cheap project vinyl too. When I worked at a record store I remember teachers coming in looking for the cheapest ones they could find for a various lessons they had coming up. I'm glad The Audio Nerd has a box for people like them. The store is a little bit cramped with how small it is and with how much product they carry, but it is such a gem and so fun to flip through. You can spend an hour or two easily in there despite it being a small store. Live shows even happen here! They move some of the tables out and put a band in there. Shout out Hayden for always promoting upcoming shows there! And as if this place couldn't get any cooler, they also do punch cards too... Who has ever heard of a record store doing a punch card before? Absolutely amazing. If you are looking for a cool new record store, The Audio Nerd is a great place to check out.

Yes, they will accept $50 from 8 and 10 year children who they know are expecting trading cards to be in English, but this store won't take returns. Cool. He seems to have a passion for finding everything interesting and unique. What a nice guy! I tried to keep it reasonable and only bought four books, but I already have plans to go back, and I reached out to friends who are in the area to see if there's anything they need! Love how the price label has additional info about the condition of the vinyl. Pricing was about right. Saw some good deals, some that might be a tick high, but nothing crazy. And to support a local shop, most definitely worth it. But what really struck me was how friendly the staff were. I overheard one of the employees helping a customer and giving them really good advice, not only on selection, but how to care for their vinyl. Thoughtful! As I was checking out, they noticed my selection and next thing I knew we were talking about the band, their previous tour, their upcoming concert, etc. Another customer even joined in the convo. Fun! This place will definitely be a regular stop for me. Plus, living in Folsom, I think they're the closest to me .. bonus!

I really liked that the Folsom location had a way bigger selection of Funko Pops than the Arden location. There is so much stuff to look through in general at this location, since it's roomier. I specifically scoured the shelves for some Funko Pops to take home, and came across the cutest Jurassic World one (shown below) that I just needed to buy. I also discovered a beautiful Elvis Funko, but that one I decided to hold off on for now. My husband bought a Mewtwo Funko as well (not shown). Most of the Funkos were in really good condition. There was a Stranger Things Funko that I really wanted but alas the previous owner had damaged the box. From a collector's standpoint, the prices are fair. Of course this location had other collectibles and items for sale, such as clothes, records, and whatnot. I've got plenty of records at home and only want to purchase very specific records these days, so I didn't really bother to look in their record aisles. The staff were friendly and chill. I will definitely return to check for more Funko Pops in the near future!

You can pickup some cheap vinyl outside, or you can go in and peruse a small but decent selection. I was able to get an interesting colored vinyl variant of Aesop Rock's "Daylight" EP while I was there at a reasonable price, and was also able to have a conversation about said record with the guy working. It felt like an old school genuine record store vibe, which is disappearing and appreciated. They have a lot of junk - in the most loving way - that you may want to get, like collectible toys. Not so much of the Funko Pop variety, but more like actual toys you might remember playing with - like He Man and the Masters of the Universe, or The Simpsons figures. I like that more than the "everything is still in a box and not meant to actually be enjoyed" variety, so this place is cool there. Also, canceling the subscription was a pain because of course customer service is handled out of country by an automated systems that make it nearly impossible to speak to anyone. I had to eventually just put a "stop payment" via my credit card company. This is a bummer review because I really wanted to like FYE. But I will never shop here again. Back to Mad Monk I go.

Not only do they have LPs... they have CDs. New and used. Each item is labeled with a sticker stating the condition. Besides music, they have books. New and used books for children, teens, and adults. Don't have a record player. No need to fret. They have several kinds they sell. When I dropped by, the person working told us that the shop was expanding its square footage. By April, they anticipate expanding to take over the shopfront on Sutter and Riley Street as well as keeping its current space.They will have even more inventory. Awesome! I wish I had gone in sooner! The clothes Sue carries are for women of ALL ages. Super cute clothes that flatter all of us, no matter our age or style. Sue, herself, is wonderful and so helpful in pulling clothes out for customers to try. Her eye is impeccable. Sue's Shoppe is one of very few in the county that carries higher quality clothes, and I have yet to go into the store and leave without purchasing something. Support local instead of online shopping!
