I made the very difficult decision to euthanize my 13,year old dog at home so her experience would be less traumatic. I've had 5 pets of which 3 were handled at home and 2 at the vets office. The two at the vet were put to sleep humanely and with lots of love from the veterinary team. The 3 at home euthanasias were done by a very, professional, empathetic vet . She was unavailable and unfortunately used Healthy Paws mobile vet - Loretta Rodriguez dvm. She and her tech arrived on March xxx at pm. She entered my house and seemed to be in a rush since she arrived. She walked me through the process and what to expect with the first and second shot. Throughout the entire process she never once acknowledged my dog, she was like a robot, only there to euthanize and pick up and go. I was extremely upset to have to put my dog down and her lack of empathy and compassion rubbed me the wrong way. I mentioned to her and her companion how they were so cold and that they didn't even pet the the dog when injecting her. She puts a smirk on her face , throws her hands up and replied" that's your dog not mine". I hugged my dog throughout the process. I didn't not ask her to leave because my dog was already gone. Her reviews on line were good and she may be good to vaccinate your pet but I don't recommend her for euthanasia. Loretta Rodriguez, I wasn't able to reply to your reply to this post. Empathy is something that is born from within, I've experienced that with other vets. I did not ask you to hug my dog. What bothers me was your attitude. Yes you came after hours and were compensated $886.11 for your services . Just to be clear the tumor of the spleen was diagnosed by my vet and I made my decision based on that diagnosis. My cancer diagnosis that I shared was to make you aware pap smears don't pick up all gynecological cancers. I am not distressed, I was blessed that it was found and I'm cancer free. She gave me a rate of $50.00 per kitty even though they were going to be boarded together. That's a $100.00 a day. I sent her all the medical information along with her form completed along with pictures of my kitties. She gave me three choices to pay for the deposit.... Cash, check or cashier's check was $400, Zelle was $404.00 and if you paid with a credit card higher due to the fees. I sent her an email to ask why there was an additional $4.00 for a Zelle payment when Zelle and most banks and credit unions do not charge fees. I sent out the email on Sunday and have not heard back. In the meantime I found another A Country Cat House located near Tampa that is owned by the brother, I asked about company policy regarding customers being able to come and visit the facility and was told they always allow customers to come and visit. Because most people like to see where they are boarding their babies. I told her what Josie's policy was and she said they do things a bit different. I then asked her about their pricing and was told that if you board two kitties with them, they place them in connecting kennels for $60.00 a day.... Not $60 for each cat, they charge for the kennel size.... I was astonished.. Needless to say they will have a new customer once we finally move up there, however I am going to pass on Josie's. Only because with all the research that I have done, when a business does not allow you to check their facilities out, that is a red flag, so that and her pricing is why I will be looking elsewhere. Josie did reach out to me and explained to me why she hadn't been able to get back to me. Josie also explained that she would allow me to come and check out her facilities and try to work with me on pricing. Her reviews are exceptional except for the few incidents that were not favorable which we discussed and I was satisfied with her responses. I am still not quite convinced she will be in my budget. But I do appreciate that she cared enough to reach out to me.

Instead, I felt like I had to jump through one expensive hoop after another, and in the end, she was never even spayed. I want to be clear that this review is **not** about the front desk staff or the technicians. They were always kind, compassionate, and treated both my rabbit and me with respect. I have nothing but appreciation for them. My concern is with the veterinarian's approach to my rabbit's care. What should have been a straightforward pre-surgical process turned into repeated delays, additional testing, and significant extra costs. One of the reasons my rabbit's spay was delayed was because of her E. cuniculi (ECUN) blood test. My rabbit had a **negative IgM** (which does not suggest an active infection) and a **positive IgG** (which indicates previous exposure and immune memory). Positive IgG results are common in pet rabbits and, on their own, do not mean a rabbit has an active infection. Rabbit owners should know that many rabbit veterinarians do **not** require an IgG result of zero before performing a routine spay. If you're told otherwise, I encourage you to ask questions or seek a second opinion. Delaying a spay also has risks, including an increased risk of uterine cancer in intact female rabbits. Unfortunately, after spending a significant amount of money and months trying to move forward with the procedure, I lost confidence in the medical recommendations and chose to take my rabbit elsewhere.
