The shelves are packed with an impressive variety of candy--from classic chocolates to fun, individually wrapped treats you don't often find anywhere else. They also carry small gifts, unique goodies and an antiques in the back, which makes it a fun spot to browse whether you're shopping for yourself or looking for something to take home. When you walk up the steps to enter and see the beautiful and playful window displays, then you open that old door and step onto the creaky wooden floor, it just gives you all the warm and fuzzy feelings. Great old-timey candy store located in downtown Lexington. Tons of homemade candy behind the large counter, along with fudge. Tim loves fudge. No vanilla fudge at the time I went, which was a little surprising, but perhaps it was sold out. No big deal. Against the walls you will find all kinds of candy for sale. The selection is fantastic. This was such a neat little spot we popped into during our visit to Lexington. The exterior is so inviting when we saw it while strolling the streets downtown, we knew it was a must. I love anything that invites a nostalgic feeling for me and this place definitely delivered. Any kind of candy old or new, you can fine it here. This is a great shop in downtown Lexington. The selection is fantastic; new and nostalgic treats abound. We almost left without getting some fudge and we're so glad we went back for some! The rocky road and maple nut fudge were both rich creamy and delicious! One of the owners was there and she offered great insight into other shops to try. Stop by if you are in the area. Had been craving a Clark Bar for sometime and I know they are hard to find. Went into the store yesterday and bought 3 bars at $2.50 each and they were hard as a brick. Could not even bite into them. I really wanted to check this store out since my work buys puffy peppermint from them by the case. The store was filled with edibles and gifts. The massive selection of things for sale in this store is delightfully overwhelming. For a moment I noticed the smell of popcorn and then the aroma of fudge hit me. You would have no trouble finding a gift for someone here. They had some nice ornaments. They had some tableware. They sold vintage postcards. A walk down memory lane is how you'll instantly feel as you enter the front door of The Candy Factory in downtown Lexington. One of my favorite candy bars is the vanilla Charleston Chew and unfortunately, it is hard to locate. The only two spots in the triad area (that I have found so far) that carries them is the Mast General Store in Winston Salem and here at the Candy Factory. Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry! My first trip here, I stocked up on the vanilla & strawberry and also took a quick look around but I was in a rush and didn't get a chance to really check out the store. My second trip here was during Christmas time a few weeks ago; my daughter and I had a wonderful time browsing around and checking everything out. The Christmas displays were beautiful and everything looked so delicious. I loved seeing some of my favorite goodies from my childhood like Charms, Chuckles, taffy, rock candy, rainbow swirly lollipops, mallo cups and a whole lot more! There's so many flavors of taffy to choose from, large barrels of old fashion penny candy and beautiful chocolate concoctions behind the counter near the checkout. The homemade fudge is absolutely delicious; they are happy to give out samples and I really enjoyed the pumpkin spice fudge, it was incredibly tasty. The chocolate fudge was fantastic as well. If you were to combine nostalgia, great customer service, and amazing goodies... This is definitely the place! It's literally fun for the whole family. My mother got her chocolate covered almonds and some old candy from when she was a little girl. Younger folks in our party loved having so many choices of candies and for the sophisticated sweet tooth they had quite an array of chocolate covered goodies that they have in house. We came in with our grandparents and they were super excited to see the old Coke fridge that you open from the top & has the bottle opener on the front of fridge. For a small town this is a wonderful delight. The candy factory is a journey into time. It provides candies treats and sweets I would read about as a child. The store brings to life the Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. There were some moment I wanted to open every candy bar to find the golden wrapper. The store has an assortment of fudge typical flavours of the south- red velvet, pralines and old school fudge. I loved this store! It's like going back in time to the local stores in my little hometown with the old creaky wood floors and wood shelves. There were so many different treats to look at it was hard to take them all in...everything from chocolate covered nuts to huge gummy bears. They even had wood toys and tin type gifts. The prices were about what you would pay anywhere and they had the best fudge made right there.
